I adopted a cat from a shelter once. When I told the lady there that I wanted Gem, she said, "oh... yes... Gem is very... sweet." It was then I knew there was something up with Gem, but I decided to get her anyway. On the way home I realized what it was: she had the most annoying, loud, screaming meow of any cat I have ever met... and she did it A LOT. She drove me up the wall, but I loved her with every fiber of my being. She was there for me during some of the hardest times in my life. She passed away almost two years ago and I miss her obnoxious yelling. RIP Gem, you fucked up yet sweet cat.

My cat was a quiet little man in the adoption center, so polite and cute... turns out he was in the middle of a panic attack and the vets have all since said "I've never met a cat that needed that high of a prescription for anti-anxiety medication..." :-) He has to be tucked into bed, he knows how to open ANY door knob, and he has a routine of walking with me to lock the doors and turn off the lights and HE DOES IT WHEN HE WANTS ME TO TUCK HIM IN TO BED. He'll walk to each door and light and SCREAM... He's only 6 and the vets said he could live to 20 if he loses 5 lbs.

My adopted cat decided just as I started the video that now was the time to sit on top of me and demand love, getting in the way of the screen. A true pet adoption place experience.

My dad adopted a pitbull from a shelter. She refuses to do anything until you give her tummy rubs, and needs to be given coconut oil for her skin (which leads to the legendary phrase, “Hang on I need to oil the dog”). She’s super sweet and adorable but looks like a beast without her colorful collar with a flower on it.

As a rescue worker i found this hilarious 😂😂 I do work with cats and dogs one of the cats is an ass who beats your legs up if you dont feed him fast enough😂😂

My local shelter was *very* happy to learn that I only wanted to adopt adult cats, and that if medication wasn't a concern (because of my schedule), I was okay with disabled cats.

this sketch is hilarious 😂 the first time we adopted a dog we were friends with someone who worked at the shelter, so we were able to get a really sweet dog, but the second time we adopted a dog, she was a pinscher that nearly bit my brother in the face and looked like a hellhound

I really relate to this. I got lucky to get my cat the first day the adoption agency opened after pandemic restrictions, so I got to choose from the best bunch. He also for some reason didn't care about his brother so they weren't "bonded". But it's so sad that the pets usually remaining are the ones people don't want 😢.

Oh yeah, that one is Princess, no you aren't allowed to take her, she's been dogknapped three times and started a riot one time by begging for treats, the judge said we aren't allowed to give her away to anyone who hasn't let go of all worldly attachments."

I haven't been to a shelter in so long. I didn't even get anything there, I just visited. I bought one cat from a store but most cats I've gotten have just sort of... turned up. I was given a cat by someone who was in an apartment unsafe for cats. One cat's owner died and she was left to me until my mom took her in. Now I'm caring for 5 feral kittens and an ex-tom who might be the father of some of them? While also feeding a couple other adults who show up less often. Today one of the half-feral kittens has been coming in and out of the window, screaming and screaming for attention.
