Im watching this video on April 28th, 2023, a few months after the Chiefs won their 3rd superbowl title, and Mahomes 2nd title in 3 years. It's amazing to me, when I watch this, I see an inexperienced young kid, throwing sloppy passes, making mediocre reads, and really just not being on the same page as his WRs. To see where he was then, compared to now, shows you just how special the guy is. His growth has been insane since game 1 of his career.

Looked impressive in his first start. Especially since he had a second string offense of line and second string receivers going up against first string defense. He stayed calm and ran the offense. I think he's going to have a bright future with the Chiefs. I read a lot of comments that look like people are hating probably because they're upset that their team did not pick him up.

Mahomes had less than 50% completion rating and 1 int with 0 tds against the starters. Against the backups he had slightly above 50% with 0 int and 0 tds. Wouldn't call it a great game

Patrick Mahomes is SO much better than what you typically see, from an "NFL rookie quarterback in his first start." He's refined his game, obviously -- but overall he doesn't look that much different from today -- as a QB who's led his team to 3 Super Bowls, and won 2 of them. The play that begins with 1:44 left in the game, i.e., the completion to Demarcus Robinson -- is "vintage" Mahomes -- and if you didn't know better, you could believe that you were looking at game film from last year. Great job (as usual) by NFL Films.

From watching this game as his first start, no body had a clue what he was going to do the following year. It’s like he just became Elite over night with a offseason all to himself as the starter. Because in this game he made nice plays, but he also made a lot of errant throws that where off target and he looked pretty shook and flustered at times. You couldn’t tell from this start that he was going to become what he became This guy just went to a whole new level the following year and took the league by storm, and he’s been killing it ever since
