I wouldn't have counted the releases after Naughty Dog and Insomniac respectively because they are no longer being made by 1st or 2nd party developers at that point. Some were even on multiple consoles, so no longer a PlayStation Franchise!

Gosh, I remember when dad brought home a PlayStation demo disc he got in a newspaper. the first game on it was the first ratchet and clank. I played that demo every day for 2 months until dad bought me the game, and the rest is history. I've played the first 3 or 4 games at least 10 times each and the rest of the games a couple of times as well. the defining game of my childhood

I respect the God of War franchise mainly because of the story. But essentially outside of the combat/boss fights.. the older games are immensely overrated. Prince of Persia was a much better franchise overall IMO. Still great games though.

@@kriskater The Sly series is almost identical to the Batman Arkham games. The games are all great by game standards, however Thieves in Time is definitely the Arkham Origins of the series. Not an awful game, but a lot of missteps that make it nowhere near as good as the others. The change in artstyle, slower gameplay, a not very interesting plot (also ridiculous at times. Not in a funny way, more so in a "wow that's way too impossibly convenient" way), extremely dull jokes compared to the other games, and way too many questionable scenes (Murray Geisha dancing and Carmelita belly dancing come to mind).

I'd rather look at user reviews than rely on "critics" who sometimes bash games due to politics or just from being in a bad mood. No one takes them seriously anymore. So this list of TripleJump is lazy because I thought he or his team would dive into these games and tell us how they really feel. Instead, they looked at a number, repeated the same talking points one or two reviewers said and called it a day. Shame.

Warhawk has the distinction of being not only my first PS1 game as a kid, but later my first PS3 game as well. Totally different games, but I love them both. The chaos of fully-populated Warhawk maps with all the dlc vehicles was insanity at times. I've still yet to find anything quite like it, although I didn't like Starhawk as much.

I’ve been trying to think of a good topic every time I watch or rewatch one of these and honestly I think as straightforward as it is, every main series Mario game is worth doing. Main series including both 2D and 3D traditional games so Mario 1, 2, 3, Lost Levels, World, New Supers etc. as well as 64, Galaxy, 3D World and so on. Probably Land 1, 2, and 3D as well. @@limit2785 Do you know ANYTHING about Ratchet and Clank?! If you did than you'd know that it's certainly a game for teenagers or adults. There are so many adult/dirty/sex jokes scattered here and there that it's insane. Heck the titles of their games are literally adult jokes, like Going Commando, Up Your Arsenal, Full Frontal Assault, Clock Blockers, Into the Nether Regions, and Multiple Organisms! If you knew ANYTHING about Ratchet and Clank, than you'd know what I'm talking about. But I doubt you do. Heck I doubt you're reading this. God of War 2018 is a boring game. Very boring. Just constant walking and talking, the combat's annoying due to its restrictions, the boss fights are highly repetitive and boring (aside from the first fight against Baldur), Atreus is cringe-inducing sometimes, the puzzles are repetitive and (you guessed it) boring, and it doesn't expand on Kratos all-that-much from the prior games. The game's HUGE lack of controls (such as actual JUMPING) make it annoying and enemies are really repetitive and annoying. Nearly EVERY Ratchet and Clank game has better replay value than God of War 2018, games like All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault can die in a hole though. But you're lucky that this video's ranking them based on their franchise as a whole, so basically all the prior games are carrying the 2018 one to victory, if it wasn't based on the franchise, it would be low-tier, God of War 2018 sucks. It's cool to watch, but boring and repetitive to play.

My all time favorites are Syphon Filter and Twisted Metal. God of War, Uncharted, Sly and Ratchet and Clank are my post PS1 franchise favorites. Crash, Spyro and Killzone are still there too. I am a big PlayStation fan.

Psygnosis had a loophole that allowed them to self-publish their games on other systems, the N64 also had a Wipeout game, Sony eventually reorganized the company in 2000 and assimilated it completely, turning it into SCE Studio Liverpool.

The creative aspects. People made some amazing stuff with the software like FPS games, really well thought out boss fights and platformers. The official game stories were charming in their own way and based on an interesting idea, but the community levels (the good ones at least) made the whole thing worthwhile imo. Basically, I just had a lot of fun with it. The God of War and Batman franchises are still my faves though.

I'd like to see this list retooled with only console releases, no handhelds. Plus, it would be cool to see every series with at least two games. Mostly because then I could see where Dark Cloud measures up, which was an AMAZING series (done by the same company as the lowest ranking on this list, but the quality is so good that the two franchises don't even compare).

The thing about Crash that bothered me with this list is that only one game after Naughty Dog was done with the series was a PlayStation exclusive. I kept feeling like the score should reflect that and the titles from Wrath of Cortex forward shouldn’t affect the score (same thing with Spyro) But that’s probably my own personal bias and not being willing to live in a world where people apparently liked Syphon Filter more lmao

Warhawk is one of my favorite multiplayer games I've ever played It had incredible vehicle gameplay, fun weapons, and it never had any game slowdown, ever! Probably the most time I've ever spent on a game.
