As a hardcore bionicle fan I always love hearing people who don't know anything about them try to pronounce all the crazy names and rap their brains around the lore. It's always so funny. If you really want to confuse them tell them about it being a cancer allegory
@corbjones27382 жыл бұрын
@@Spacething7474 So one of the main people handling the story had an intimate experience with cancer within either themselves or a loved one. In Bionicle lore, there is a species of beings called Makuta whose initial existence in-lore was to protect Mata Nui (what ends up being the universe/giant robot itself). However, they go rogue (quite like what can happen with human cells that turn cancerous) and essentially try their hardest to bring down its host body/Mata Nui. Smaller details include the little villagers, Matoran, working for seemingly no reason whatsoever until you realize they're carrying out their host body/Mata Nui's bodily processes like cells and whatever else makes our body tick from the inside. Bionicle Heroes was a suprisingly fun FPS for the DS. Lego DC Heroes is a great DC game. Lego Marvel Heroes 2 was alright but the bug that prevented the DLC from being downloaded unless the game was reinstalled was very annoying. Middle Earth is huge in that one, much more than it really needed to be for The Hobbit, since it includes Caradhras, the entrance to Moria and even Lothlórien, which never appeared in The Hobbit films. It's obvious that the developers liked the world, so it makes it all the more frustrating that it was never completed. I would love to see a Lego Middle Earth that encompassed all the Peter Jackson films and even the newer animated one they are making, since it's also in that universe.

Lego Rock Raiders I can certainly attest to its increased difficulty, especially for a Lego title, its later levels really do have you against the wall with decreased oxygen, power drains and in some levels literal lava cutting off access to important caves of resources and burning away your base. I find it has a thrill in that regard and I have enjoyed going back and playing it over the years. I really think its a good idea that could be expanded upon in a spiritual sucsessor of a base survival RTS.

It should be mentioned that Rock Raiders retains a small but dedicated cult following even today, including major overhaul mods like Baz's Mod, and there's even a fan-made full remake made in Unreal Engine in the works called Manic Miners, with the primary goal of making the AI actually functional this time.

As a harry potter fan i've always thought that the DS and PSP versions of LEGO harry potter 1-4 were better than the console equivalent, mainly because the content felt more similar to the books rather than the movies. The handheld version of 1-4 had interesting little details like peeves in the main story, moments where you had to deal with fire crabs and blast-ended skrewts, and it had a really engaging spellcasting system where you had to do certain inputs to cast a spell rather than to just swap to a spell and hit a button. The potion making, transfiguration, and goblin door minigames were also great ways to spice up the content. The PSP is better than the ds version however as you don't have to deal with touchscreen controls and the graphics are slightly better. Also 5-7 is most likely better on console but the handheld version had something called the dueling club where you could play a special dueling minigame against all types of characters throughout the series with the final bosses being the original founders of hogwarts that had massive health bars and powerful specials. the dueling minigame for handhelds was fantastic and when I replayed the game on console I was slightly disappointed with how tedious it played.

The open world exploration was the best thing about Lego Racers 2; if only the cars didn't handle so sluggishly; drifting feels absolutely horrible in that game. Also the car construction in the original game felt like it gave you a lot more freedom. LR2 could have been a much better game if Lego Media had kept High Voltage Software onboard instead of switching devs to Attention to Detail.

I’m glad I’m not the only one! I liked it more too, primarily for the open world gameplay. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but Skywalker Saga is the first LEGO game since to give me the same feeling of freedom. At the end of the day I’m the type of person who likes Kingdom Hearts 1 better than 2 and calls Breath of the Wild his favorite game, and it’s all because exploration and freedom are what I enjoy most out of gaming. I feel like the reviews cited frequently missed the points of the game. The description of Lego Island 2 frequently cited the first game, but it wasn’t the first game, it was a plot-based adventure game for a middling young audience. Lego Rock Raiders for the PC was an RTS that provided a heavy challenge without being a highly competitive multiplayer scene. It probably deserved a score around there because it was buggy as hell but it was inventive for the genre. Honestly kinda tired of the games being dunked on by misunderstanding them as a whole, and while that’s mostly the reviewers, some more criticism of the critics was due.

My only real complaints with Lego DC Supervillains is how it kinda steers itself towards being yet another superhero game and how the story felt a little too short and rushed which was really disappointing as someone who loved the custom villain aspect and wanted to spend more time in the story playing as them

LEGO Universe did turn a profit, it performed well! It was canned because it didn't happen to make as much money as the toys did that year, and lego can be incredibly short sighted. Just a few years later minecraft and roblox would make back LU's entire development budget every month

The fact that the worst Lego game critically was just a bad port of Lego Star Wars OT, just proves how consistent the Lego brand has been in Video Games.

Woah, I totally forgot about Lego Battles until you mentioned it. I remember playing it and having fun comparing my progress with ny brother. I thought it was a good baby step into games like that, especially because my tio and cousin would play Age of Empires or some other similar game but my little tiny brain couldn't understand the strategies behind a bigger game like that.

@@sillywilly6999 Star Wars is a success. It is a timeless classic. Even without Lego, it surely stands on its own. But Lego Star Wars is its own breed of titan. Bionicle, on the other hand, was essentially a fad. 9 years is just enough to get into the hearts of a single generation of kids. But even at its height, we were still a minority. It is dead for good.

It's honestly kinda disturbing how many of these I've played. Some of the low rated games were some of my favorites (How is Heroes so low!?) and it made me wonder if there is just an audience for some of these games that aren't reviewers.

Agree with no.1. It was my favourite too and it’s the one I played the most, going through the levels multiple times.

I still think Mega Man is up for a list like this, especially since he has quite a lot more games than one might expect with wildly varying degrees of quality. I've been on an on-and-off quest to play every MM game myself and it has forever altered the way I see the blue bomber as a whole.

Would the Zero games count? I know people adore them. My personal pick for number 1 would be Mega Man X 1
@megaman77992 жыл бұрын
@@Detective_L It would indeed count. If it says Mega Man or Rockman, it counts for the list (aside from the usual exceptions). Also that's my pick for #1 as well as Mega Man X1 is my favorite game of all time.

Lego Battles was one of my favorite games as a kid and probably one of the first strategy games I'd ever played. One of my issues as a kid was the unit and building count in free play. Wish that was adjustable, though I don't know if that was for performance. Otherwise, even visiting the game back as an adult, it's interesting trying to beat some of the missions as quick as possible or with 0 deaths. And weirdly, I started to pick up on things as a kid too. Where units were likely to struggle with pathfinding, generally the best units of each sort of 'class', and an odd little glitch where if your hero used hotwire and an enemy vehicle (flying special units were what I did but I'm not sure if larger ground units might also work) were on top of standard ground units or a hero, you could convert not only the flying vehicle, but also those ground units. This allowed the creation of buildings of a different type if you got a builder and having *two* Heroes at once. The other team could build another of their own Hero, but still, having two powerful units like that was the coolest thing as a kid and I remember showing that to my cousin back in the day.

A lot of the LEGO games felt off with their graphical inconsistency, blending LEGO bricks with somewhat realistic landscapes/buildings/other components. The LEGO game of the film managed to make the graphics entirely out of bricks, as did that Minecraft one.

As someone who owned Lego Star Wars II on the DS, I can attest....it was ROUGH. I got stuck on the game for months without end because of how glitchy and aged it was. But hey, it had Zuckuss in LEGO form and that was based....except I was never able to unlock him because the minikits were ALSO a nightmare to get, no surprises there.

I had Lego racers for the N64, and it was a decent enough kart racer, but the build your own kart feature was a joke. It did affect how your kart handled, so you couldn't really make a good looking kart, since the more pieces you used the heavier it became and it would be more sluggish and not suitable for winning any races. So, basically, if you just made it a chassis with wheels and a seat and a steering wheel, you were good to go. LOL!
