I think the levels were fairly ranked in the video except for The Longest Shortcut, because it wasn't even close to be as mesmerizing as the rest of the levels. It felt way too silent and way too trip-based for my taste, even the music was just average. Sure, non of the levels are bottom tier, which was great for Rayman 3. Non of them were annoying, or frustrating or cringe or anything else. Bog of Murk deserved it's placement however. Yo, I cannot say the exact same thing about the Bonus levels collectively what you struggle for to play the game through, because half of them are horrible.

Rayman 3, actually, was the first game I've ever played, I'd never forget how it felt to visit The Fairy Council lake for the first time. This game in entirely holds a very significant intimate place in my heart. So, yeah, I completely get your feelings about this game and all these locations, even Hoodlum Headquarters)

That sounds like a curse and a blessing. A blessing because your first game being such a good one must be a great experience, getting into a new hobby and just getting straight into the good stuff... on the other hand it must be a curse since you mustve been dissapointed by many other games youve played after it

I always thought bog of murk was unfinished, i mean look at the second level. Jump to island get power up, get second one jump to other side and thats it. Its just waaaay to short for me to think that it wasnt rushed during development But i think everyone agrees that land of the livid dead, especially the tower level are the best in the game lol, great video!

Also, another point about the desert of the Knaaren. It is the first time the Rayman series gets actually scary, but still in a way that it doesn't tap into a different target audience. It still remains a game mainly targeted at children. Many games get more edgy and are great in later installments, and they target the once kids now teenagers, which is good, but there's something about making the game scarier without losing sight of that initial target audience. The only thing that comes close in the series is the Dark Rayman chase scenes in Rayman 1, but they're moreso adrenaline and stress inducing than scary.

I think there are no hoodlums in Razoff's mansion because he chased them all out. He's one of the few non-hoodlum related enemy, like Janos from RayMan 2.

I remember clearly first time I was introduced to the Rayman franchise was from my brother randomly picking a game for my 6th birthday and seeing the 30th anniversary cover with 3 games in 1 (rayman m, 2, and 3) I ran straight to my room to play it and fell in love with all 3 games that to this day I’ll always say rayman 3 for me is top 3 games

NGL I agreed with almost all your rankings I was hoping you would appreciate the land of the living dead as much as I did so I was happy when you immediately put in in S tier lmao (that tower was my wallpaper as a kid). I had a similar experience with buying the game. I was 6 years old and it was a random afternoon me and mum were in a multimedia outlet shop and they had this game for the PC. I just liked the cover for it so my mum bought it for me. I had all the same experiences, from getting nightmares from the knarren levels to wishing to live in some of the worlds. Glad to see some people share my nostalgia :)

The machine boss is often misunderstood. The harder (charged up) you hit it, the longer it stays up before dropping. If you time it well, you can literally just stand still and jump and shoot on rythm.

I remember that I've played Rayman 2 at my friends place and I was immediately hooked! Escaping the ship was fun and being in a mysterieus wonder world was for me exciting. My friend had also Rayman 1, but we both got stuck at the second music level. After a couple of years, I saw Rayman 3 in the shelves and how I love this game. Still mad at ubisoft after they ignored ' See you in Rayman 4' quote. And yeay, I got also scared at the Desert of the Knaaren. I was 8 or 9 and after 3 years I picked the game up and finished it. Oh yeay, I got also Rayman M........mehh. Oh and also Rayman Origin and Legends were fun, but still wasn't the same feeling as the trilogy. The DLC for mario + rabbids was fun, many throwbacks to the original trilogy. But yeay still waiting for Rayman 4

Honestly, hearing you talk about how found you are of Rayman 3, reminds me of how much I adore origins. And to be honest, I got to play origins on complete accident. My first Rayman game "technically" was Rayman Jungle Run, I used to play it on my dad's iPad. And one day for my birthday he wanted to order a Rayman game for me, so I picked Legends, but it wasn't in stock for the Psvita at the time, so, he bought me origins instead, and that may have been the best decision he ever made. I love that game till death and have played it countless times, on the other hand with Rayman 3, which I started playing a year ago, but my PC broke down, so im still waiting for the new parts to arrive but until then the rankings seem fair to what I've played.

Man i never made it past the desert of the kanaaren because just like you, they scared the shit out of me when I was younger, I always used to play it with my cousin. I was sure that had to be the last level, little did I know lol The tower of the land of the wandering spirits is by far my favourite part, it just looks so magical and ethereal. Got reminded of some fond memories while watching the video, thank you for that

I agree with pretty much everything (except the knaaren since I just keep struggling to 100% score it and the atmosphere is getting on my nerves lol), specially the final boss fight. I think it should've ended when Rayman shoots the missile to him and make some dramatic explosion. Otherwise, make an interesting transition to the flying arena and make it... I dunno, more of a high-stakes combat situation? Similar to phase 1 and the normal Reflux fight but maybe the hoodlum health mechanic could've been implemented except you don't have to use the flying mechanic...

I have something of a similar experience. My first overall exposure to Rayman that I can remember were the Rabbids games, but the first title I actually owned and played was Origins, and MAN did I play that game a lot as a kid (I just dated myself hardcore but eh, lmao). Then I heard about Rayman 3 HD, and going from Origins to that game was certainly interesting, but I ate up every minute of my experience with 3, so in that regard, it's kinda special to me alongside Origins. Good times.

I agree with almost everything you said (a rare thing on the internet), except that in my opinion the final flying section in Rayman 2 does work due to it being somewhat similar to the shell riding sections in previous levels (janky as they may be). Come to think of it, the shock rocket in rayman 3 is pretty much an exact copy of the flying shell mechanic in the previous game and it worked very well. Using the shock rocket to finish off the final boss would definitely have been a better ending to the game than the turret sections. The other thing I don't agree with (sorry) is the underwater boss in TLOTLD, to me the heavily restricted movement always felt like a huge downgrade from the previous game and the boss is far too easy. And to this day I still don't actually know if the giant robot spider is supposed to be a hoodlum of some kind, or is just a random robot that roams the land (maybe a remnant from the robot pirates? Maybe it was Razorbeards pet?)

I'm right there with you on this ranking, I love Land of the Livid Dead so much, and the music in the Fairy Council always hits me with nostalgia like a bag of bricks! I played the games in a roundabout way, starting with Rayman 1 when I was like 4 or 5, and shortly after that, I got Rayman 3. Took me a while before getting 2, and then it was the inferior ps1 version, though at 8 years old, I didn't know I was missing out. I absolutely love this trilogy, Rayman was basically the first thing I was a fan of, and 3 is definitely also my personal favorite with 2 not far behind. I practically grew up with Rayman. I like Origins and Legends fine, if nothing else because they dragged Rayman away from the Rabbids' clutches, but they kinda ruined Rayman's personality for me, and I still hope we get a proper 3d Rayman again one day, he really prospers best in that dimension. I hope this remaster/remake bears fruit, I am sick of this amazing franchise being dormant.

Yeah, honestly don't really disagree. Personally I do like the Bog of Murk, but that might be mainly carried by the background music. Still, Land of the Livid dead is the best. One thing I really like about the levels is that you can see the end objective in the background for a lot of them, particularly in the first section

What I don't like about Rayman 3 is the lenght of the levels. If I would decide to play one Rayman level it would too short for my taste for some short chill gaming experience. And with variety of landscapes every level has it would not be so bad to chop them as separate levels. Some parts of the levels like the Fairy Council beginning in the forest, second level being the building. Longer levels could be separated to more parts like Desert of the Knaaren could be atleast three parts and Reflux final boss could and should be separate level as well.

Pretty good list. I would like to rank the levels in my comment, but it's just too hard, so I won't. But I need to say that I love Razoff fight, I was losing the snowboard race on purpose just to play it agian and listen that fire soundtrack, and I really like Clearleaf Forest, and I don't think It has boring visuals. Still I have no doubt that The Land of the Livid Dead is the best of the bests. For me Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc is still the best platform game that I've ever played. I love every second and pixel of it. I think that ranking the first Rayman levels would be interesting.

S: Summit Beyond the Clouds , Land of the livid dead A: Fairy Council , Hoodlum HQ B: Clearleaf Forest , Desert of the Knaaren C: The Longest Shortcut , The Bog of Murk D: The Tower of Leptys As a child i was too scared to play the Desert of the Knaaren so that became my default ending point, played the game countless times this way, i was like 20 years old when i actually finished the game for the first time, and yet the game bacame this very special childhood memory for me. Somehow Summit Beyond the Clouds still became my favourite level with its perfect way of portraying a winter wonderland style world, which i am a sucker for in general. Rayman 2 and 3 have a special place in my heart, and i really enjoy listening to someone who feels the same way. I recently started to listen to the OST of both games again and fell in love with some of the music, a video about the soundtrack might be interessting, espacially what your favourite tracks are.

...im...Rayman 3 is one of my favourate games... I thought desert of the knaaren WAS the END of the game...because as a little kid I was too scared to play it, so when I returned as a Teen I replayed, got through the level Beat the boss, and...I thought that was it. I was so confused when you called it 'mid-game', I've even watched -some- rayman 3 content on youtube and...Im so baffled that one of my favorite games...I ONLY PLAYED HALF WAY THROUGH...THINKING I FINISHED IT O_O Edit: Also Rayman is pretty special to me, I resonated with your story with the franchise, Rayman 1 was the first video game I ever remember playing, it was really scary to me. I played rayman 2 on ps2 and GBA, thinking they were 2 different games...I didn't really like ray man 2, I was a little kid and I just didn't really know where to go, but when I was a bit older, I played rayman 3 and LOVVED It!! The tennis mini game the extras stuff they style, powerups, globox, boss fights, cutscenes. I replayed and replayed and replayed...up to the desert of the knaaren...as I was too scared of the enemies, and thought it was the final level, so I didn't think I was missing out of much :/
