It's a meta play. You watched this video so it obviously works. Basically this way gets as much buzz and viewership as possible so each game reveal is hoping to be seen by gamers that might be interested in other titles. Basically making the marketing as digestible as possible

@@Bugside Sometimes that does work, sometimes it doesn't if a breakout title is going to announce they usually do it early in the year, and traditionally would market their release right before the holidays so parents will buy it for their kids. But I think the missing piece is that these showcases get lots of coverage. Which ultimately means more people see the trailers

I don’t know if this is just me, but this trend for hyper-realism is just unfortunate, cause a lot of games have started looking same-y and it loses a lot of life versus going in a unique direction. All that effort going towards making each hair follicle noticeable in game could be much better spent fleshing out the world or making more solid mechanics for gameplay

The people upset need to understand some things. 1. Geoff said this show wasn't going to be as huge as previous shows and would mostly focus on already teased or announced and non triple A games/dlc. If you saw that and still set your expectations high, you caused yourself to be majorly disappointed. 2. A game doesn't need to be triple A to be fun or good. Many indie games have already shown this from this year alone.
