Saw 2 was my favorite. Jigsaw literally said Matthew's son was in a "safe" place, all he had to do was be patient & listen. Plus the fact that they were watching the whole thing on a recorded video... brilliant.

FINALLY someone who gives credit to Saw V, I don’t know why that installment get so much derision over the others but I love the teamwork game story and think the twist that no one was supposed to die was one of the most clever in the series.

Sorry, but for me Saw III and VI are really good movies. Saw III explored the relationship of John and Amanda and the conflict between them. It was an emotional conclusion of their story. Saw VI was good, because it was really well directed and exposed the theme of issues in the modern medicine.

Kramer wasn't punishing the cop in IV because he missed some family vacations, he was partially vetting him because his other psychos weren't working out. Though he did stand back and dish out "Jigsaw justice" at times, he was rash and would ignore orders that would put him and others in danger - that was his downfall.

I would say the 2nd movie is the best just because it is the most balanced out of all. The traps are decent/great, twist is one of the better ones in all franchise and Tobin Bell has the most screentime. Other movies has some elements better, but they never get combined as good as in the 2nd one.

My list (least favorite to favorite) 7: useless traps and undeserved kills (especially Joyce's). Gordon's return was welcomed, but his joining the Jigsaw clan wasn't all that believable. 4: not bad, but just had little weight on the larger story. All that seemed important was Matthews' death and Hoffman's reveal. And the protagonist is never mentioned nor referenced again. Jigsaw: the retcon with Kramer's hidden apperentice felt kind of cheap, as well as recycling the "it already happened" twist from 2. Even so, I want to give the next films a chance. 5: good middle of the road entry. While the game was very interesting, this is for some reason the one Saw I always forget. 6: movie was very intelligent with bringing in current events which fit into Jigsaw's backstory perfectly. Also has good ethical commentary used in the first Saw, but neglected in later installments. 3: it was awesome to see Jigsaw's direct interaction with one of his disciples. Outweighs the nonsense of involving a struggling family in the game, at least for me. 2: the more Tobin Bell, the better! Also managed to pull a plot twist in league with the first film. Though with a larger cast, it maintained the isolation left out of the Hoffman quadrilogy (if I may) 1: I love 2 for diving straight into the mind of the "killer," but mystery is always a good thing. Saw gave so little, at the same time prompting the audience to think about so much plotwise and philosophically upon reaching the end credits. And gotta love that classic soundtrack!

I understand complaining if gore is used to compensate for lack of something (acting, effects, story, what ever) but just straight up complaining about gore, in a Saw movie?? That's like complaining over your favorite character in game of thrones dying

Saw III, Saw V, and Saw: TFC are amazing IMO. Saw III is my favorite, it actually had a intresting story, Saw V, TFC and VI were awesome too.
