Randy Barrett's cover art for the 2600/VCS port of Phoenix is still my favorite of all time.

Yeah. That game is seriously good. A very good friend had that and Yars Revenge. The only place I played those two epics was his living room in around 1983/84 He died due to cystic fibrosis complications about 10 years later as a very young man. Phoenix is a top 3 memory shared with him. Number one was smashing a pair of older bullies in a snowball fight. He had a rocket for a throwing arm. And I was tough enough to keep him from being taken down. We beat their asses. They had humiliated me 2 vs 1 the week previous. I wish I could sit down for 5 minutes and play that game again with my friend.

Only had a few of these in their silver boxes before getting displaced by a tornado and having to give up my whole collection but one of them was a complete in box SwordQuest WaterWorld!

In Brazil, all ganes were silver label, including ones from other companies like Activision. True story.

I think it is a case of the box art, aging better than the game graphics. Having said that, it is the game play that matters. Never heard of some if the games, but it applies to many systems that came out.

Dukes of Hazard, Crazy Climber, Elevator Action, Quadrun, Saboteur, never heard of it! they really did squeeze the life out in some great looking games seven years after the VCS came out!

Dukes, Elevator action and Saboteur never officially came out. Crazy climber and Quadrun were mail order only if I recall

Some of these games are included on the Atari GSP and some aren't. The licensed games definitely aren't, and for very good reasons.

There's quite a few unreleased titles/prototypes in this list. I missed out on a lot of bargain bin 2600 deals back then due to focusing on stuff for the ColecoVision. My aunt got a few of them, which I eventually ended up with though.

13:40. You really had trouble with Mario Brothers. Computer emulation with a keyboard? It played really well with an original controller on the 2600! The ice levels were awesome.

How do one video for Red label Atari 2600 games .. the later releases after the Video game crash in late 80's? I had moved on the NES at this time after playing w/ VCS for many years. I recently got a Red label Real Sports Boxing (released 1987) and they have an Activision type game feel this.

Swordquest: Airworld is running on a PC and not a real Atari 2600. With a perfect facsimile, some needs to get on porting it to the VCS, stat!
