As a joiner who can skim a wall or ceiling and get a good finish but not a plasterer that ceiling would be absolutely terrifying 😆. I remember trying to plaster a ceiling 10 by 5m once years ago and the stress was absolutely horrific 🤣. Used the blue grit and the suction was absolutely insane. Was going off 20 mins into first coat. Looked horrible when finished tbh and really learned a lesson on where my skill levels were! Ended up not charging the customer any money and paid my decorator to easy fill sand and get it perfect! Anyone who doesn’t realise the skill involved in big ceilings needs to try one!!

I am always impressed by how flat and smooth you guys get those walls and ceilings with just a trowel. I am replacing all the drywall in my house and if I could get that kind of finish without sanding it would be so much less mess to worry about.

Why you doing that mate. I wouldn't bother. The walls are still plasterboard

I'm a builder that plasters and set quite a big ceiling a couple of weeks ago. After the first coat was on I had a quick brew and came back to find most of the scrim on the floor 😭 It was new scrim and not a cheap one. Next time I will definitely scim over all the scrim first.

Removed some lining paper in a bedroom in my house and the plaster is yellow and green and is pulling off in sections I assume it is old plaster 🤷♂️ I’m thinking a thick lining paper could get a good finish would you recommend replastring ?
@merka4149Ай бұрын
Hello Kirk Long time following you. Why you use mesh tape instead of paper tape? In this video I see you are using orange mesh type on flat joints and yellow mesh tape of 90 degree joints. Why not everywhere just on type of mesh tape? Is there any strength difference between orange/yellow mesh tape? Thanks

Kirk if you're staining wood then the grit of the sanding makes a difference on what you're using and how it absorbs into the wood. If you polish the plaster up then does that mess with the painters mist coat or base coat?
