Starting out at 31…the balance and coordination needed is insane. Never thought it could be this difficult. Seems like a very gradual process.

I’ve been skating for about two and a half years now and there’s still so much good knowledge here. For the beginners STICK WITH IT. I know it feels impossible at first but the beauty of skateboarding is that the only limit is your imagination, if you keep trying you can figure out how to have fun at any skill level. I used to get so frustrated because I couldn’t do the tricks I would see on instagram or that my way more experienced friends were doing, but I would push myself to try different things and figure out what I could do, and slowly without even really trying that hard I started to figure out so many new tricks. It’s about the journey and the friends you make, don’t get so hung up on the destination :)

These videos really help with learning to skate switch. I got a penny board in October to use as transportation, and realized very quickly that I needed to learn switch. Three months in, and I now got my regular rhythm/flow with my switch stance. Thank you so much

As a learning-again skater, I couldn't 100% agree more with everything on this list. Wish I had this video when I started back up again. Nonetheless, I'm on the right path now-not just skating to chase tricks but taking my time and understanding skating more. Also, manuals are GOATED for life 🙌 Great vid, Mitchie and team!!! Always an inspiration!

25:53 just casually sliding/dropping in. Wow he never ceases to amaze me with something like this. Seems like one of those things you can do when you just mess around all day. Not that we don’t know he’s put his 10k hours in but a humble reminder that Mitchie has put in his time and it shows. That inspires me more than anything else to just keep at it regardless of trick progress and so on. Thanks SkateIQ!

The best advice I heard for ollies was you saying that you’re jumping off the back trucks, that’s the balance point that you’re jumping off. It helped so much. Now what you said here about all you need to Ollie up a manny pad is to get the nose high enough, then push up and over. Makes so much sense.

Mistakes with gear is such a big thing. I used to ask for doh doh softs (the pink ones) from my shop cus I’m like yeah that makes sense soft to absorb impact, then I would crank em down so hard to get my trucks super tight. I mean I know now I like medium trucks and I ride Indy double cone 94s but back then, I could’ve saved a lot of time not messing with blown out bushings with a board always wanting to turn off to the left.

28:55. Oof, slam. Bummer Working my way through this vid. Lots of good tips so far I can attest to the heelflip grind. Spent a few weeks working on them for only a few random lands. I now realize I could’ve been doing so much more. Pop shove-it’s, 180s, skating switch, manuals… I’ve given up on flipping the board and now working on much easier tricks that will take me farther. I can go back to heelflips later. And I’ll have better board control and confidence as well

I'm 5 11" (w/size 10 shoes) riding a 8.8 board (9" tracker trucks) Reason I like longer axels is that wheels sit deep on the axel so the sit flush to the board. Only asymetrical Nano wheels screw this up. I like this set up for its width and stability in transition.. but I'm un -sure about it's wheelbase (14.25) During 6ft drop ins in bowls I'm slamming backwards a bit (cause the shorter WB?) Thinking of skating transition with a 14.5 WB for confidence in drop in and carving. Good? Tips? (I'm 49 btw.. skating 3yrs)

wear a bunch of layers and then you have padding for falling maybe try scoping out some hidden areas that dont get a bunch of snow check parking garages and shit ideally a garage with a space heater to practice fundamentals/flat ground stuff maybe theres indoor parks somewhere as long as its not deathly cold like chicago in that case ya gotta gtfo

Yo, the bushing thing is too real. I just started like 7 months ago at 32 years old. Took a hard fall a few weeks ago because of the bushing. When I started asking skaters around the park if should I replace them I was either told no you're fine or Get harder bushings. Gonna be grabbing harder ones soon because I tighten for the ollie practice but loosen when I'm cruising the park.

Wood expands and contracts with temp changes. The more extreme and the more often the temp changes, the more the board will weaken and lose pop. It's not a huge deal, and one season probably wont kill a board, but it's something.
