Love that Mitchie touches on the impact of ego that can get in the way of learning how to skate switch if you're already an experienced skater. To others, you'll look like a beginner. To your body, you'll feel like a beginner. Change your mind to face facts and see yourself as a beginner and get out of your own way. Before you know it, you won't be a beginner skating switch anymore. Good luck!

Thanks for opening my mind to switch Mitchie. When I tried switch first time, my thoughts were "it feels like I am on the board for the first time so I must suck at it", then I gave up imediately. And now you are saying this is the actual feeling I might get. So I will give it another go and spend more time on it. I would see it as an achievement to even learn cruising switch but with confidence.
@spht9ngАй бұрын
I actually really liked learning to skate switch at first. I've always had this weird obsession with the mystery of skateboarding stance and this curiosity about what physically makes someone ride goofy or regular. So due to that, it just felt really rewarding and fascinating to finally push around switch and have it start to feel normal.

But during the pandemic, i started skating again at 29-30 and learned way more tricks than i ever learned when i was younger just diving into the basics and getting a strong foundation. but then i started focusing on harder tricks, got rusty on the basics and now i suck again lol but might dive back in soon tho

42:40 AND NEXT FEW MINS CHANGED MY SKATING COMPLETELY. The pro-tip around the front knee alignment to your front shoulder, and how your tib/fib are angling to make the bottom of your shoe parallel instantly added about 9" to my ollies. I went out in the driveway, visualized, and it was nearly instant. At times I was lol'ing at the results. I'm hopping on the free-trial train to see what other nugs are in the content provided. Much love Mitchie!

These hourlong videos are valuable resources. It's giving me so many ideas for how to put together a session in a way that's a bit more organized while still having fun. Because I'm kinda old (49) and just wanting to roll first, roll fast, and figure out what I'm doing as I go along, I tend to be a bit all over the place, fall more than I probably need to, and risk hurting myself. It's hard for me to overstate how awesome it is to have these fundamentals broken down into their parts and be reminded to check/let go of my ego. It just opens up possibilities. Thanks so much Mitchie!
@andrewbrumley512Ай бұрын
Finally someone is touching on the importance of switch. It opens up so many possibilities, especially at skate spots that are more friendly to other stances than yours. A ledge isn’t only backside for you if you can hit it switch frontside!

This is the type of video I was hoping to see. Like I've written last time, I've understood from a long time that basics are important in any fields. Then rinse and repeat to learn new skills or mastering them. Some of what you showed I got a grasp myself but without teachers like you we can't see the subtleties. And that skating community is for the most part driven by ego for the wrong reasons. Younger I didn't want to skate because I was afraid of hurting my knees in a bad fall (the nightmare for basket ball, or anything really to me). Now I don't care because I know that we can take time when we have the right mechanics to learn anything. 41 years old, 1 year and a half in, practice at a leisure pace but I don't see myself quitting now. It will probably take me a while but that's the journey! Great one! Funny and all! Thank you!

Heeey!! My name is Fernando, I am from Costa Rica, I am "learning" to skate again after a more than 15 year break, currently 34 yo... First of all I want you to know that I am so proud of you, dude you are AWESOME!!, and that's an amazing progress,...if I can give you a mini tip is when you are getting on the sidewalk with an ollie, once you get on top try to bend your knees a little to avoid the skateboard spitting you, like flying to the front ans shooting you backwards, i saw you get a bid behind the board, bending your knees helps you to stay on top of it rather than staying behind it, it keeps your center of gravity low. Dude you really inspire me, best of luck, may God bless you and who knows, maybe one time we can skate together. Also always wear protection, knee and wrists primarily, cause once you get better, and you will, you will feel more secure and have less fear, and that is usually when you fall harder 😂

Tbh the "other stance" when you doing switch tricks make a lot of frontside and heelflip tricks easier, like sw fs shuv, sw heel, sw v-heel, sw fs bigspin, sw lazer, sw front heel and so on, so dont ditch it like that, i can do these mentioned only sw but cant regular lol, but if you learn how to open your body now you can do bs stuff, specially sw bs shuvs, and all the sw kick tree path. It works for frontside in transition too, but if u wanna take it to the walls, them open it up your body is VITAL Damn switch breaks are brutal! going down hills too, the complete switch experience is really a rabbit hole, i went down it when i already was good skating switch
