So I am in my senior year of a BS in Aerospace Engineering and for our capstone, we are building a table top satellite. I was put on the Power, Propulsion, and Thermal team. Recently, we have had concerns with our power source getting too hot, it's four 18650s. With all my years of watching you tear phones apart, the vapor chamber came to mind as a method to cool the batteries without being too big, after all it is a satellite meant to sit on a table. Now I'm worried that if it doesn't work, it's my blunder but either way, it's cool that the technologies overlap. Smart phones are kind of just satellites not in orbit and with no propulsion or attitude adjustment capabilities.

So good to see how inspiration goes around. I mean who would've thought 5 or 10 years ago that a satellite built by an aerospace engineer got its idea from a smartphone teardown video on KZbin. Also how I can literally interact one on one like this.

@@Moon_Presence no, but it is like having a car with a nice exterior, you always drive inside the car, but if it looks good outside, you'll like it more. Lots of people just go crazy every year for small angles changes for their phone, so why not the possibility to edit the back? Look for example at Divoom products, they look so good... Yeah, the question is: is it worth the price? Well, also having some feature that you'll never use are not worth the price, but there are a ton of feature that people don't use and they are ready to pay a lot for that... Well the other luxury brands are too busy working on their software support (which is probably the most expensive part of a phone) to worry about fancy boxes. Every time I see a review for a new device I always look forward to JerryRigEverything making a video on it. Tho it does hurt my soul a bit seeing the device being scratched with a knife…

ROG phone also suffer way more than their durability, they're so likely to die from the CPU just overheating and killing itself, the same problem as poco X3 pro user Literally every week there's always 1-2 poco x3 come into the phone repair shop that I'm working all with the same exact problem of the cpu basically shooting itself in the leg Edit: for me at least, poco is fine since it's a cheap phone(150 dollar average price) but for ROG to suffer from the same problem when their phone can easily cost minimum of 1000 dollar, its just unacceptable,if you're thinking about buying secondhand ROG phone, give it up, secondhand phone is never worth it with the exception of some of the iPhone even then you have to keeo a very keen eye to see why they're so cheap and most of the time it's because the secondhand iPhone is a refurbished one meaning they either swap the back glass which is a terrible idea and can easily damage the internal components, housing swap or change the hardware, for LCD most repair shop is well capable of transferring a specific chip to bypass the important message and editing battery health is comically easy, unless you know what you're looking for its nigh impossible for the average user to spot a well refurbished iphone

This and they always have the option of throwing it back on the customer by saying they should have used the cooler. This thing isn't meant to last any more than 18 months.

@@_BangDroid_ my rog phone 3 has lasted since i've got it, which has been a good couple of years now. i just replaced with the rog phone 8 cuz i've held onto it for so long. I personally think they last quite a good amount of time but i've probably skipped all the bad models too and i really think this rog phone 8 feels like it'll last much longer than the 3 but we'll see

I don't know if you have the tools but it'd be COOL to lower the temp of the vapor chambers enough to see drops when you cut it open.

The zenfone 9 and 10 both have the gimbal cameras. You should do a durability and teardown on those next. Asking because I own a zenfone 9 and would like to see you put it through the paces. Cheers😊

If they do actually cover the back in RGB LEDs, it could be functionally a second screen. Not a good one, but might be useful enough to see what's in frame when taking a selfie with the main camera

I've been rocking a ROG 3 that's running the snapdragon 865 plus with 12 gb ram 128 gb rom since March of 2021. I bought this phone to use as a dedicated gaming device for call of duty mobile and a few other shooting games. I did use it as a cellphone for a few short months because it sucked with the network I had and I have since only used it for entertainment purposes such as gaming and KZbin or streaming movies. After all this time my air triggers are not as responsive as they once were but I'm amazed that they work at all with ho many times it's survived drops and some may say thrown a time or two without having the screen shatter or anything else. It's my favorite phone and has been worth every penny I spent on it. Love seeing the new ones but damn they are weak as hell now.

LMAO does it not support microSD either? Clown phone it is! 128 GB storage is some mid range Samsung from 2019 tier storage.
