Another thing in the Little Mac Pac-Man MU, trampoline completely screws Mac over. If he runs over it, it forces him to jump, meaning he either has to attack it or predictably jump over it which Pac-Man easily stuffs out

For Inkling, most inkling mains actually think Steve inkling is relatively even as she has a really good time in neutral against steve with her movement, bair and combo options. Booyah is really consistent on steve and she can punish his recovery really well with inkbomb coverage. Shulk is terrible though and yoshi is also up there for worst matchup

I’m not sure I’d call it inkling’s worst match up but Steve definitely wins it I’ve played many inklings in tournament and haven’t lost to one and Steve can kill them off 1 jab because pickaxe cycles are easy on them and their up-b doesn’t go through blocks

Agreed. As an Inkling main, Steve is like, terrible. Shulk is the worst, R.O.B. is difficult sometimes, and I havent yet lost to a Yoshi. Tbh it depends on the playstyle for me.

The funny part about Incineroar is all 3 Metroid characters could be argued to be his worst matchup Incineroar has a really rough time approaching Samus because of charge shot, and he can't revenge charge shot or bomb, or even missile if she's approaching, because she just lands a free grab from outside Incin's revenge activation hitbox Her big aerials do a fantastic job at keeping Incin at bay, which takes away Incin's strength of usually having bigger hitboxes than his opponent does Samus also is almost impossible to edgeguard without a risky read, and if she tethers to the ledge, Incin can't 2 frame her either, and bombs also make it similarly difficult to juggle her, which is something Incin really likes doing As for Ridley, he has way bigger hitboxes than Incin, a projectile that leads into a ton of damage and a free grab if revenged or shielded, a command grab that can clank with or sometimes outright have priority over Alolan Whip, and a multijump, making approaching in neutral pretty much a lost cause. Even if you get Ridley offstage, all you can really do is get a revenge on the up B, nothing else is really even worth going for because of how good Ridley's side B and nair are at finding reversals on Incin, and even with that one revenge that Incin can find it's still nearly impossible to use it, because of how good Ridley's fair, nair, side B, and multijumps in combination with each other are at letting him take space by force, making ledgetrapping, something Incin is usually pretty good at, more trouble than it's worth. And even if Incin finds a solid hit on Samus or Ridley, they're both heavy and die way later than most characters. For all these reasons I'd even say these two are worse than Zero Suit, because at least Incin can box with Zero Suit if he plays smart enough.

I think the worst matchup for K. Rool is Villager. Small, has aerials that can interrupt all of K. Rool's aerial approaches, can Nair out of shield, can pocket the Crown meaning K. Rool doesn't get to use it for the entire match and drops the Bowling Ball on his head when recovering or can come from the side with slingshot.

Bayo main here, I feel like Bayo should've at least been mentioned in Rob's worst matchup. Bayo combos Rob into oblivion, she can witch time Rob's gyro, and she is one of few characters able to edge guard Rob effectively because of her amazing offstage tools. This is just my opinion, I can completely understand his reasoning for picking g n w.

As a diehard Banjo Kazooie main their worst matchup is Isabelle/Villager. Mainly Isabelle. They pocket grenegg and hold it until you take their stock. You have to use grenegg smart to make sure they don’t pocket it.

Isabelle is an absolute nightmare for banjo. Also Kazuya feels borderline unwinnable at higher level play. Banjo can rarely kill Kazuya before 100% and once that rage activates he is in serious trouble. Things will feel in your favor until you get down b'd through your slow projectiles and killed at absurdly low percents basically for free. On the plus side, Banjo feels uniquely capable against Steve!

As a Mii Gunner player, Sonic is nowhere near the character's worst matchup. Definitely a bad one, but Falco is borderline unplayable. Falco's down b shuts down Gunner's primary gameplan, and has the tools to keep Gunner away while being able to also rushdown effectively.

Honestly feel like Dedede's worst match up is Palutena-nairs for days, juggles easy as hell, invulnerability on aerials if they're not disjointed, all of her projectiles interact poorly with inhale & gordo, insane ground speed, teleport recovery for dodging edge guards, and a counter to top it all off. Such a miserable match up.

Steve for ryu feels really weird. It makes sense for ken, that matchup is just awful, but steve actually struggles with ryu in neutral because of shakanetsu. It beats minecart and hits steve for it, and steve corners himself to mine and his bad jump height makes him likely to get hit if the ryu just holds center and zones with a mix of grounded and short hop fireballs. I've heard other ryu players say steve was -1 at worst, even at best. The worst matchups are the good zoners and swordies since they can just swat through fireballs with big hitboxes and edgeguard his relatively linear recovery. Rosa does fit in that category, but steve just doesn't make sense for this one.

Nah I’m a Steve main and when I see a Ryu I just see combo food, because I just build a wall so Ryu has to approach, and in close range one Steve up tilt is 60+% and possibly death for Ryu (Steve up tilt is safe on Ryu’s shield btw)

Exactly right with Duck Hunt. Mega Man destroys the little dog. People think Samus is a losing matchup, but the gunman blocks projectiles. It's a shield similar to Steve's block placement. The only things I can think of off the top of my head that will go through it is Steve's minecart and Mega Man's gear thingy. Charge shots of all kinds, reflectors, and all other projectiles that aren't secondary effects of attacks (like King Dedede's up b's stars) can't get through Other than that? Captain Falcon is a rough honorable mention. But an UNDERRATED duck hunt counter is kirby and pichu. Gunman, side b discs, and cans can hardly ever hit them. Just crouch and you've countered most of duck hunt's kit. Luckily duck hunt has good smash attacks that are disjointed and can catch them jumping and crouching, so along with their weight stat they die fairly early. That's the only reason they're lower than mega man

Personally I'd say Olimar has an even worse time with Joker than Cloud simply because Joker gets Arsene for free if you ever try to throw a Pikmin that isn't purple at him. Olimar vs. Joker is basically restricting Olimar's most spammable tool because you don't want to be fighting Arsene for 95% of the match.

For Inkling I'd not say the Shulk MU is that bad. Personally I main Inkling and one of my mentors, an Inkling from Switzerland, has a lot of experience in the matchup and both him and I think the MU is negative but more ok than others (I'm thinking Peach, Yoshi for example) when you know it really well. No one plays Shulk tho so it's usually kinda hard to get MU experience which can influence.

honestly i must be a weird ryu or only ever go against steves who dont know how to counter him, but i find once you get the hang of it, steve vs ryu feels almost even. which is wild because playing as ryu makes you feeling like most popular characters are a losing mu. but yeah. if steve walls you, bait that youll jump over it, then fair it instead and it just breaks all the blocks unless theyre iron. if youre good on ledge and have good recovery mixups, steve might struggle to do save tnt traps. but its all a race against time. you have to sacrifice a lot of your usual patient defensive play for going in and being aggressive, while also being on the lookout for steves many panic buttons and abuse the hell out of back air. if you know the right di mixups too, a lot of steves i go against dont know what to do to continue their combos to their proper finisher and have to end it early. its really weird. steve has every tool in the book to deal with anything and everything ryu has and then some. but i find im excited whenever someone says theyll play steve into my ryu, sure its frustrating at times, but it comes with practice and adaptability.

I'm pretty sure toon link's worst mu is shulk. Toon link isn't that slow (only fall speed is pretty slow, otherwise the fastest link) and he can recover vs pythra because of the tether mixup. Shulk can spam safe areals on stage and go offstage with fair to edgeguard toon link.

For Mii Swordfighter I feel like another horrible matchup would be with King K Rool, they lack the range most sword users like Cloud and Shulk do, so they would have to deal with K Rool's body armor

I know that this was made before the current, but Mii Gunner does decently well against Sonic thanks to their projectiles actually being able to keep Sonic away fairly well. But if you really want a bad matchup for them, Wolf just negates everything Gunner wants to do and is able to deal damage and go for KOs more often than Gunner would want to. But still great video

Ryu Main here: I've actually never done the Rosa matchup before lmao I think thats the only matchup I've never done as Ryu Honorable Mentions are just the really oppressive zoners: Min-Min, Samus, Megaman, Belmonts As well as just the really mashy characters or the ones who beat out Shakunetsu without trying: Wolf, Sonic, G&W A lot of people mention Kirby when it comes to Ryu's bad matchups and that's fair but I think that's actually a winning matchup for Ryu, it's just that your old gameplan is out the window and you have to adopt a completely new gameplan just for the sake of fighting Kirby and Puff.

As a cloud main i can agree, joker is really bad especially when he has arsene. Best thing you can do is hoping opponent does whiff something and then you have to be there to punish it. Other honorable mentions: MinMin (very hard to approach, your backair as a tool is like non-existent) , Bowser (Fire, Two Frame Options, hard to kill) Pikachu and maybe surprisingly also DK sometimes because he can grab you at like 40 and kill you offstage 🤯🤯)

Bro as a Robin player Olimar makes me suffer way more than I ever thought, I hate the fact that depending which parasite I’m thrown it will survive my projectile, the red one will survive Arcfire, the Yellow one will survive thunder and levin sword attacks for when it lands on me, my Robin tries his best but mf is slow and his projectiles have like the lowest priority known to man

As a guy that plays Toon Link casually, my buddy’s Palutena is my worst matchup; he just counters/reflects everything I do (since we can read each other like books) so I’m reduced to grabbing him and comboing him off of that, which is boring and annoying for both of us

As an isabelle main, fighting against Pyra/mythra isnt that difficult, sure it more in favour of them if they play well, but it isnt the worse and isabelle can still beat them, mythra still has to respect slingshots and pyra has to be careful with side b or else isabelle gets a really good projectile that can guarantee a kill for her since she can still attack I think Pikachu/Pichu is a more difficult matchup, Pikachu has pressure with their neutral that can deal with llyoid if isabelle isn't in front, they've good aerial's and are a hard target to hit with pelts

Fighting Sora with Dedede is awful, although personally I've had much more trouble with Fox, Palutena and Mega Man. Could just be me though

I personally think Dedede's worst matchup is in fact Mega Man. Of course nearly every attack in the game bounces back gordo, but with the slew of projectiles at Mega Man's disposal, Dedede has a hard time with Mega Man. I think part of the reason it's his worst matchup imo is due to pellets. Pellets completely destroy any opportunity to get any sort of footing with gordo.

I don't know what you mean regarding Toon Link. I can't speak to his matchup chart, but unlike Link he is actually very fast with fast moves as well.

As a former Mii Swordfighter main (and as someone who still plays the character) their worst matchup is Pichu. Mii Swordfighter relies on Tornado into up-air for the vast majority of their kills, and Pichu is the only character in the game where that literally never works because of how light they are, not to mention that Pichu is in general extremely hard to hit for Swordfighter, and Swordfighter doesn’t have any fast get-off-me tools which is a huge problem when faced with a fast rush-down combo character like Pichu
