97 was a great year for video games. I wish the SNES could have lasted longer, and they could have released more games for years to come. Maybe they could add expansion packs for graphics but keep it a great retro sprite-based console that's still around. The SNES could handle Street Fighter Alpha 2 and you had games that were up to 48 MB. And by then it was close to a decade old, imagine if it stuck around.

Lane oil makes a world of difference. My dad was a left-handed bowler and it would cause the ball to get into his path of bowling I guess. I actually learned how to bowl with my left hand because if I hit where his ball had went when bowling with my right hand it would sling my ball into the gutter. So by learning to bowl with my left hand I was able to get to the same lane as him and keep my ball from becoming a gutterball.

Looking back, I think the 16 bit generation holds up better than the 32/64 bit, but at the time, having even really bad 3d games was pretty mind blowing and somehow we didn't notice how bad the 3d was lol. Anyone else remember going in to Target and seeing the Playstation kiosk and just being floored by the graphics?

Harvest Moon was such a strange experience back in the day; I remember looking EVERYWHERE for it after reading about it in Nintendo Power, and when I finally found a copy, it wasn't quite the "Farming RPG" they'd made it out to be, but I don't think anyone knew how to classify it. Nobody else was talking about it at the time, and now, there's a whole genre of games inspired by it. I really enjoyed it, mostly because there was a goal and an end; the later games failed to grab me because they just went on forever.

Level 100 culminates in an insanely hard boss fight against Doh. There's also a plot...and thematically fitting endings. Bizarre for Arkanoid that in this random release they decided to give it a plot.
