Some of these shots have me going: "WHAT??? HE REALLY TOOK THAT?" But that's the whole thing. A huge part of being a shooter is being so incredibly confident you believe everything will go in. Steph genuinely lets go of those shots and says: "that should go in, I'm steph curry." and he only gets better every time he shoots one.

Well if you do the math, you'll see that 29/88 is about 1/3. 32.954% with that 54 repeating to be exact. He's hitting these game-deciding shots with some ridiculous defenders in his face at about the average NBA 3-point percentage. Most shots are misses statistically, just in general. But an NBA team is gambling, always. Basketball is a sport based on the theoretical and probable. The only proof is playing games. The players can't know if they're improving if they don't play and the coaches don't know who's going to have a good shooting night. Fascinating.

Interesting, thanks for putting this together. he shot 32% in the clutch in this video. he is not clutch
@PitlessBallClips2 ай бұрын
@@jebinm4706 This stat started being tracked in 1997. out of the 62 players to take 50+ shots of this variety since then steph is 16/62 in FG% if you include the shots I did not include at the end of the video and 8/62 if you do not include them.
@CamUchiha2 ай бұрын
@@jebinm4706 except he is clutch. You expect him to be 45% from the field in these moments?Clutch time is technically at the 2 min mark, not just the final seconds. Let’s put the video aside for a sec. You can’t say Steph isn’t clutch when he just won Clutch Player of the Year and saved Team USA in the Olympics from multiple clutch plays. Luka, who is widely regarded as a clutch player, is 14/40 in these moments. Kawhi is 17/51. Wait until this guy starts making videos on guys who are undoubtedly clutch like Kobe, Bron, and KD. You’ll see that you can’t go off this video alone and conclude that a player isn’t clutch
@CamUchiha2 ай бұрын
@@jebinm4706And did you notice the common denominator? GS is either tied or trailing in all these clips. Meaning that this doesn’t even include the times where GS was up by 1,2, maybe even 3 points, and Steph decided to seal the game. That's one thing people forget about. You can be clutch while leading too. For example, search his game 1 playoff performance against the Spurs in 2017. You’ll see that GS was leading by one and Steph hit a floater which gave GS a 3-point lead and left 9 seconds left on the clock. A special moment? Not necessarily. But it goes to show how important it is to make shots in crunch time even if you have the lead. SA still could’ve won the despite the floater, but imagine if Steph would have missed? SA could’ve called time and they could’ve gone for a 2 to go up by 1. That’s why trailing in the final seconds of a game isn’t the only opportunity for a player to show how clutch they really are.

On shots to tie/take the lead with 24 seconds or less left in the game, Curry has an eFG% of 38%, which is higher than LeBron James (32.3%), Kobe Bryant (32.7%) and Kevin Durant (36.5%), among others. Of every player since 1996 to attempt at least 25 such shots, the average eFG% is 34.7%.
