It's the rider not the bike. Why guys are trying to ride adv bike when they should be on lighter weight dual sports i don't understand. The biggest difference being trying to lift 450fkinLbs in soft dirt on a cliff side single track is not worth any ride. And when i see there's no saddlebags then i know that adv ain't being used for what it's meant for. Go camping and ride some fire roads to a viewpoint. You wanna ride anything else get on a dual sport!

I've been riding motorcycles for 30 years, I've seen thousands of motorcycle videos, but this video is by far the most entertaining, extraordinary and "honest" video of them all. Motorcycle manufacturers have been inventing fairy tale videos about adventure motorcycles for years. we see cool guys jumping over the Grand Canyon and driving through the ocean with huge 250kg iron piles and forget that these drivers are all racers, rally pros or test drivers. Of course, the normal driver also wants to be a cool guy and at the first rough terrain they say goodbye to spare parts for $ 5,000. Yes, being cool is expensive. 😆

@@Angry-Lynx The point he is trying to make is that the vast majority of riders (you may be part of the exception) aren't going to be able to ride at the skill level as what the marketing materials try to sell you. Admittedly i got sucked into the Pol Tarres thing too, i'm a reasonably capable rider who enjoys motocross tracks and single trail on bikes fit for the purpose. I found the T7 top heavy and not particularly powerful. Getting stuck alone was always the worry so exploring the rough stuff was less appealing. Have a 690 now, same power, less weight and much more manageable. This video is a perfect reality check, to handle this kind of weight off road the suspension needs upgrading in the minimum. One should be aware Pol has 300mm travel SSS forks up front and a whole new shock out back and has stripped alot of weight from the bike, also he is young, tall and extremely fit coming from a trials background.

You sound basically like me. I do love the T7, but as most of my riding is solo, I'm always leery of things going south in a hurry over rougher terrain with this. For the 70% of offroad I wind up riding, it's an absolute beast with the right tires and suspension. I'm picking up a much lighter dual sport to be the T7's counterpart, so we'll see which gets the majority of seat time this coming year.

@@robertiddon i did a high country ride which had single track, big hill climbs (very steep) and slippery 4wd tracks deep in valley. It handle it all really well, it surprised me actually. My ability to reach the ground had me drop it on a few occasions and getting over some logs was a workout but compared to the 200KG+ bikes on the ride it was great in the slippery stuff, on the open trails it was a weapon, easily outpowering the 500s. The traction control in Map2 was surprising, rocky steep uphills it kept the rear end from spinning and busting out sideways making it much easier. Still heavy to pick up when you are tired or puffed out. I use it as a commuter as well, great fun.

After picking up my girlfriend's old 420lb Himalayan (that I ended up riding 99% of the time because she stole my XT225) about a half dozen times, I realized that I have absolutely zero desire to ride anything heavier off road. Hell, after she got a TW200 and I got my XT225 back, I still nearly broke my ankle from low-siding in the mud at 15mph. So yeah, I'll stick with small, light, slow bikes.

I ride an xt250. One of my first time camping out and riding i met a dude on a crf450. Except for straight aways i could almost keep up on what i later learned was very hardcore technical terrain... Now were the shocks bottoming? Fk yeah, i thought i was about to break my new bike lol. But that said, i realize as much fun as that day was, i don't want to ride like that (it really could've ended up with a broken back or off the side of the mountain easily.) Singletrack exploring is what i love and our smaller bikes are better than most of those heavier bikes. At least we won't quite break our backs picking up when we drop

One i came across a deep thin sand in the middle of my path well the bike literally threw me off with menace and gave my leg a lesson and a bend handlebar and fucked alignment. After i fixed the allignment i decided to not do any serious offf road again with the bike because it is too expensive to repair the handlebars alone is 100 euros and i was lucky nothing else broke . What people don't talk enough about is the type and how far you ride before you encounter dirt. I recently road my 1250gsa from southern California across Nevada and along with some guys I met road the complete Idaho backcountry discovery route. I road the bike back home from the Canadian border. What I mean by all this is I could NEVER of did that trip on anything smaller than a mid size adv bike, Not a dual sport definitely. I sold my other bike when I got home ( ktm 690 enduro r) because I'm anywhere from 30-120 minutes from dirt and like more comfort on the way and home when I'm tired. I enjoy the ride going to the dirt which I consider part of the adventure and also like to explore and not have to worry about going back to a vehicle to load up.

Better to get a klx300 or something you can actually pick up with relative ease.

The best thing about ADV anything I have ever seen. Not the bike............the rider 10,0000% Pro riders on a factory or shop supported bike vs fat, weak, weekend warrior on stock AF bike that started riding 2 years ago. There is no getting around the fact that all modern ADV bikes are heavy, have short travel suspension, are high horsepower and are not setup for real offroading.

Paid to Play vs Pay to Play The Paid to Play ride inexpensive work horses when they Pay to Play Going from a milliin dollar prototype to an off the line is always going from a prototype to a production ... so it really doesnt matter if they save 20 grand per bike or not Still think you need a few parking lot oopsies here

lol love it. I was waiting for a T7 to come in for a long while but opted for a Gas Gas Es700. At the same time, I bought a Beta Xtrainer. What I've learned since taking my Es700 offroad is I will never use it for anything other than gravel or pavement. I knew right away that my Beta Xtrainer is like a scalpel offroad and the ES 700 is just gonna get me hurt. You can do it for sure but should you do it if you have another bike like the Xtrainer, probably not. Pol Tarres is a different breed of human.

The funniest ones are the guys who buy bikes that are too heavy for them to pickup on their own. They always remind me of children needing a parent to pickup their bike for them 🤣

So true.. But there are have to be another section where you replacing clutch friction plates twice a year. Because you cannot do a proper wheele and this fact not stopping you from trying over and over again, burning trough the plates.

First, get on your feet and get off the seat! Of course you will get launched lmao. You don’t have to be a pro racer to be a good rider.
