Got my T7 4 months ago and ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!! Every time I even walk by it I feel like a love sick teenager. He's right, it will do anything you ask it to and it is so freaking fun and comfortable. Bought it out of state, rode 1260 miles in 2 days to get it home, first day in a thunderstorm and the 2nd in crazy wind. Going stir crazy now because there is too much snow on the ground to do anything fun.

@@Carado5150 just kept checking online. I'm in Colorado but there was a guy in Ohio that had buyers remorse and I saw it quick enough to get it, had 1500 mi on it. Couple things that bother me about it - any time it hits the ground or even super bumpy trails it knocks the blinkers out of the bracket, and it is so INSANELY top heavy to pick up.

Ok I’m getting a T7, but I already knew that. What I really came to say is: the color palette in those badlands is incredible, and whatever gear you are using to film it is capturing it beautifully. Nice work 🫡

I got lucky last April calling about every dealer I could find for a couple weeks, found 2, one white base in Peoria Il. Another Black Adv. in OKC. Both 6 hrs away from Kansas City. Interesting. What's your take on the weight in comparison to the CRF300. Didn't the crf feel more manageable? isn't it worth sacrificing the highway comfortableness for off-road fun? Did you consider the CRF450? Clearly you can see i'm debating between the T7 to something lighter.

Great video! And I agree with everything mentioned about the T7. My first adventure bike was a 20 Triumph Tiger 900 RP, on which I added 25,000+ miles in 11 months, which included the TAT, and not riding it for four months during winter. My only complaint with the Tiger was the service intervals (European bikes). I have since transitioned to a 21 Yamaha T7. I love it! Looking forward to riding it to Alaska next year. Great video. I was lucky enough to get one of the first ones in the states... had a down deposit on it a year before they shipped. Have around 12k miles on it so far... dropped it a million times lol no probs yet. Poor gal is sitting in my garage waiting for the ice to melt. Favorite bike I've ever owned hands down. If you like useless tech it won't be your thing, but if you want a reliable beast that will do a little bit of everything no problem for a decent price it will be. The motor is amazing. So linear and solid. If you put heated grips on it don't use the Yamaha ones. I decided to try the Yamaha grips for the first time on this bike, and the Oxford grips on my WR250R blow the Yamaha grips away.

The t7 only really feels top heavy at a stand still. Once moving it just feels crazy nimble. As long as your strong enough to pick the thing up I don't think it's really an issue. I have dropped mine a couple times ( once fully loaded) and have never had an issue getting it back on its feet. I do wish the standover was just a tad bit lower so I could control the weight better at a stand still, but the more I ride, the more confident I feel with the weight.

I'm curious about what suspension upgrades I'd need to trail ride as a 275 lb guy looking to also pack some gear. It's probably one of those ask 5 guys you'll get 5 answers kinda things though.
@rangeroadmoto9 ай бұрын
Yeah definitely everyone will have a different opinion. Personally I would suggest starting with heavier rated springs for your weight and for luggage. I did this on my dr650 and it was a night and day difference over stock and only cost me a few hundred bucks and some time. From what I’ve been told most motorcycles are sold for a weighted rider of 160lbs. I’m over 200 and with my luggage and gear I’m way past that (why I blow out for fork seals). So changing the spring weights made sense to me. If you still it’s lacking in performance (or you have more budget) you can then reach out to a suspension builder and explain what you are using the bike for and they will set up your valving and everything custom to you.

Isn't the T7 top-heavy? Isn't there the danger of dropping it on to the exhaust which then gets pushed into the swingarm? Great bike, whatever. An XSR700 is a better bike for me as I don't go off-road. This guy can really ride. Interesting video.
@rangeroadmoto2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say it’s too heavy compared to something like the africa twin or bigger twin cylinder bikes. At a stand still it does feel more too heavy than the 790/890 but once it’s moving it handles it’s weight very well. I’ve never heard of the exhaust being pushed in but I suppose that that could happen!

Well I will add a different view to the T700. Heavy, yes, hard to pick up, oh yes. ButI got mine and did 600 miles to break in and then the SoCal BDR of sand and rocks and did I say sand! I’ve been racing in the SoCal dessert for many years in open class two strokes and here’s my take on the T700. It can be ridden hard and fast in the desert, its suspension is surprising capable. For me at 219 lbs and 50 lbs of gear I could really open it up across the desert. 50-60 mph in sand wash, no problem, first gear picking through rocks no problem. It takes work to do this and you must remember the weight. I bottomed the suspension many times, but it got me through. The sand dunes in Death Valley were a kick, full throttle and go! One of my riding partners was on a KTM 890, we raced and I could ride with him. The bike is good, but you have to remember its heavy and not a dirt bike. But it can be pushed and its fun!
@rangeroadmoto2 жыл бұрын
Man that sounds like a blast! We are similar weights and I was wondering how the suspension does with a heavier rider and baggage (literal not emotional). Is it still stock springs?

@brycemitchell13672 жыл бұрын
@@rangeroadmoto I purchased the rally pro because my wife likes coming along sometimes. I was trying to find a solution of a two up touring bike and what the T7 can do. Unfortunately it’s average at both. For mild off-road and gravel without pillion it’s awesome. For long distance touring with pillion it’s a bit small and underpowered for my liking. Overall I think it’s an awesome bike, however I’ve realised the perfect Unicorn doesn’t exist. I’m keeping the T7 for me and looking towards a GS or similar for two up.

I know people that have gone both ways, from t7 to 790 and from 890 to t7. It doesn’t seem to me like there is a right or wrong answer there. I’ll be doing a 790 review this year so I’ll get to test that out and see how it is for me. Great video thanks. So if you could only have 1 bike, (my case), currently owning a 2022 Tenere 700 Rally edition, would you sell it for a KTM 690 Enduro, or 500EXC-F, considering you're only doing 20% offroad, but you just want to be 110% secure when doing the offroad and also knowing nobody's watching your back, and wanting to have fun on the asphalt at the same time?
@rangeroadmoto2 жыл бұрын
For me personally i would probably lean towards the 690 enduro with a fairing or small windshield. I’ve ridden the fe501 and the 500exc and they are a blast off road and can definitely cruise at 100k/60mph depending on the gearing but I think for the 80% on road you mentioned I’d probably stick with a bigger bike like the 690(or tenere). The post 2018 690enduro models engines are so smooth and have a wider seat (still feel like a brick though). Plus 10,000km oil change interval instead of 1000(ish) Not sure if you have seen RTW Paul’s stuff but he has a fully decked out 500exc made for world travel and it is extensively modified to make it better at that. Seeing his bike definitely makes it look appealing, but for him he tries to cross countries entirely off pavement if he can. Thanks for watching and the good question!
@erkutgurun2 жыл бұрын
@@rangeroadmoto Yes I saw how Paul decked out his bike. Thank you so much for your great and detailed feedback. I've decided to give my T7 a chance so I'm going to try it out for a while off-road and see what it can and cannot handle. And if I feel it needs to lighten up, I'm going to probably go for the 690 coz even that is 58 kilos lighter. Take care.
