Can you do a small favour and stop merging different teams who just happen to play in a city that previously had a different team? I'm saying this not to be meant as being harsh, but to help you improve your videos as I think you have a true passion for what you're doing and I want to see you do well at it. The current Winnipeg Jets are not the same team that Howerchuk played for, he was retired by the time this team was awarded a franchise in Atlanta as the Atlanta Thrashers. He could qualify as the best player for the Winnipeg Jets/Phoenix-Arizona Coyotes/Salt Lake City/Utah (insert name here), but the current Winnipeg Jets franchise has nothing to do with that franchise, other then that they moved to Winnipeg when the Thrashers become the second Atlanta team to fail and move to Canada, and bought the rights to the name Jets from the then still owners of the Jets name, the then Phoenix Coyotes. When picking players for lists like this, it's important to do your due diligence and not pick players who never played for the team you're slotting them in for. Dale Howerchuk never played for the Atlanta Thrashers/Winnipeg Jets 2.0 - he played for the Winnipeg Jets 1.0/Phoenix Coyotes and when the Coyotes complete their move to Utah, they'll STILL be the same team that started out in Winnipeg.

Marcel Dionne when he retired in 1989 was second under Gordie Howe in all time goals, assists, and points, until that Gretzky guy eventually broke it all... and then he was third for a while until Messier, Jagr, and Ron Francis surpassed him, but taking far more games to do so. Such a shame he had to play on mediocre to bad teams for his entire career that relied on him and/or his line almost exclusively for scoring.

Cam Neely won the Cup in 2011 with the Bruins as an executive. He was finally able to lift and have his name engraved on the trophy that eluded him as a player.

Note on Tony Esposito: He actually won the Cup with the Canadiens in 1969. He wasn’t the starter but (because of injuries) he got into a fair number of games and was on the bench for some playoff games (though he never played in the playoffs). His name is included on the Stanley Cup because he was a part of the team throughout the season. That counts as a Cup win to me! Great list otherwise!😀

I looked on hockey-reference and saw he had no Stanley Cup to his credit, but after searching on Google Images, I saw his name engraved on the Cup, so I knew he couldn't be part of this list. Except he did get his cup win just before retirement with the Detroit Red Wings as they started their dynasty just in time for the former member of the KLM line, and one time line mate of The Russian Rocket who was on this list.

"Arizona Coyotes - Shane Doan" good pick, though I might argue Dale Howerchuk as he played for the same franchise when they were still in Winnipeg, and he's not a good pick for the current Winnipeg Jets as that franchise didn't even exist during Howerchuk's career. They started as the Atlanta Thrashers after Howerchuk had already retired and then moved to Winnipeg and bought the rights to the name and logo from the Phoenix Coyotes. So they're most definitely different franchises as both still exist to this day, even if the Coyotes are moving and renaming for the 2nd time "Winnipeg Jets - Dale Hawerchuck / Hellybuck" Howerchuk as I mentioned above is impossible, he never played for the Thrashers-Jets 2 franchise. Hellybuck, yes, I could see him being a pick at present. Vezina candidate and no cups as of yet. Though I'd also want to look at some of the Thrashers players (many of whom moved with the team to Winnipeg) to see who's the best among them might also be a candidate.

Good choices, I certainly agree with most of these. Some nice pulls, too. One name that did come to my mind was Brian Bradley, who was Tampa’s first star in the 90s and played well for them in their early years, Still ranks in the top six in team history in both GPG and APG rates. He also spent six seasons with the club compared to Bishop’s (essentially) 3 1/2. As for the question of who I’m rooting for, that’s easy: as a Sharks fan I’d be thrilled to see Joe Pavelski finally lift the Cup.

@@TwistedWristerHockey Teams moving can get confusing, especially as they usually change their name. Winnipeg is a particularly confusing one as people often mistake the current Jets team who came from the Atlanta Thrashers for the one that moved to Phoenix and renamed to the Coyotes but retained the IP rights to the name and logos of the old Jets. And the Coyotes are NOT defect BTW, the franchise still exists, as whatever they name them for their move to Utah, which only makes the Jets-Coyotes-Utah franchise all the more confusing to follow. The New Jersey Devils are another tricky one as they have that often forgotten history as the Kansas City Scouts and Colorado Rockies (not the baseball team) before finally finding their long term home in New Jersey. The Dallas Stars are probably the trickiest of the lot though, as they have a history that traces back to the Minnesota North Stars (straightforward so far), but due to co-ownership, their history also traces to the San Francisco/Oakland/California/Bay Area Seals with a move to Cleveland to finish off as the Cleveland Barrons. With the original Seals Owners selling out their remaining shares of the then North Stars franchise to get the expansion San Jose Sharks. yeah, that's a real mind-bender there of moves, name changes and co-ownerships. EDIT: In fact, that would be a great video for you to talk about that convoluted maze of connections linking those 3 franchises (1 moved, 1 defunct, 1 still in its original place)

If so, then you are right. PS. Great Video, but, I think that it's wrong about Tony O Esposito. While he never won A Stanley Cup with Chicago, from what I understand, he won A Stanley Cup Ring, as A Player With The Montreal Canadiens before The Chicago Black Hawks had picked him up. Before he was A Chicago Black Hawk, he was The Backup in Montreal, in the 1968-69 or 1969-70 Season, I believe. Let me know what you think & if I'm right.

Kariya played 1 game for the Avalanche in the 2004 playoffs, but they were eliminated in the second round. But yes, plenty of the greatest to ever lace them up never raised the Cup. I mean, look at Bure, scoring around 60 goals several times in a low-scoring era.

@@TwistedWristerHockey IMO Bure could have been even better then he was, as I still remember him losing a bit of his speed to a Bryan Marchmant knee on knee in the strike shortened 1995 season. Put Bure out for the rest of the season and part of the 1996 campaign and when he did come back, he wasn't quite as fast as he used to be. Still amazing hands and amazing cannon of a shot, but quite the impossible speed he had before the knee hunting hit. IMO Marchment should have been penalized and suspended for that.

But I wanted to make sure I deviated enough from the previous version, which had some of the names I called out here as sort of honorable mentions - Turco, Ryan Smyth, and Lindros to name a few.

Also, Howerchuk never played for the current Winnipeg Jets franchise, which traces back to the Atlanta Thrashers and Howerchuk was most definitely retired by the time the Thrashers expanded into the NHL. He should have been on the Jets-Coyotes-Utah franchise line as that's the franchise he actually played for. I know the duplicate names and moves can make that one a bit confusing, but you really do have to be careful about that when dealing with all things Winnipeg, Atlanta, Phoenix and now Utah. Atlanta has links to the Flames franchise which moved to Calgary, and the Thrashers-Jets Franchise which moved to Winnipeg and bought back the old team name by popular demand and the OG Jets that moved to Arizona and changed their name to the Coyotes and are in the process of moving and changing team name again to Utah, further adding to the confusion of those franchises.

For this video, I'm focusing on players who didn't win a Cup anywhere in their career. So as legendary as Bourque is to the Bruins, I kept him off my list since he won with the Avalanche.

Canucks- Trevor Linden. Not Buré. Linden gave far more to the team than Burés selfish play, and carried the team for more years than the Russian Scud.

Bure did a ton for the team. Linden is my favorate Cancuk of all time but without Bure, there IS NO 1994 Cup Drive. He was the Franchise Player who made it possible. he also played for 2 seasons of asking for a trade before he lost his patience and sat out demanding Stand Pat heaven forbit MAKE A TRADE! (for the record, I loved his early moves to build up that early 90s team, but in the mid 90s when it was clear moves were needed to retool the team, he did nothing, not even moving a player who was getting unhappy here.

@@Seriously_Unserious Bure played for himself. yes he had speed and flash but would rather take a low-chance shot than pass the puck. He did not do community support events, he even refused to do promotions where he would get paid. in his time there he did one radio spot for a car lot, that gave him a car. He was franchise player because management shelled out too much and said he was it. Kirk McLean did more to get Canucks to playoffs and to the final than Bure. just because play-by-play guys got excited by breakaways didn't mean he deserved all the credit. I agree that Quinn lost the thread, but he had that old school stay-home defensemen mentality and did not know how to coach forwards. let them be stars...

*note Arizona is Inactive, not defunct. there is a difference between the two. also, the modern jets are an extention of the atlanta thrashers, counting them in with the old Jets is wrong. the old jets are actually tied to Arizona as far as records and franchise history goes. for a hockey channel, you are clearly missing some important information. also, not putting Nash as CBJ's is criminal

Note: Arizona is neither inactive NOR defunct, they're MOVING. Defunct means FOLDING, as in no longer exist anywhere, in any form, players up for a dispersal draft. That's not happening, they're moving, roster, branding and all to a new city, that's it. Just like they moved, branding, roster, and all from Winnipeg to Phoenix in the 90s. Also, the Jets that moved to Arizona are not the same franchise as the Jets that moved from Atlanta. Dale Howerchuk never played for the Jets that moved from Atlanta, and wasn't even active in the NHL by the time the Thrashers played their first game. He played for the Jets that moved to Arizona.
