The lesson from this game is just how impactful positioning is. minimal position changes in height, enfilade, defilade, etc. swing the death toll by hundreds of thousands in one direction.

I think shot-gunners are a bit of a handicap for US because of their short range. It would have been a more fair fight if only SMGs were included. That being said, still a great video. Love these UEBS 2 ones, keep em coming :)

This was awesome! I feel HEARD! The next time you do something like this, I would ask for multiple unit types per team and more dense terrain. Blocking line of sight and more choke points would make the AI scramble around more and create multiple smaller engagements that could help with the dramatic ebb and flow of the narative

I’d like to see the same battle again a little more balanced but also with the us v germans and the archers v red coats at the start and whoever survives battle it out in the middle, I’d expect they’d be pretty even towards the end of the battle. Love the video man! Keep it up.

Archers were way better in UEBS 1 because they didn't require line of sight. They could fire over hills, which often made them almost even with units that had guns.

@@TheGamingplayer12 Not that I've seen. If there's a hill in front of them, they'll run to the top of it before shooting, even if their target is in range. They also won't take advantage of high ground and shoot from farther away than normal if they're above their enemy.

I feel like a US force of just Thompson’s would make it better for the U.S instead of having a mix of shotguns and Thompson’s. Especially in the long distance game.

Blind guess: Archers. Their bows might be underpowered in comparison to the other weapons on the field, but having double the reserves of any of the other ranged units, especially in an arena free-for-all, could make up the difference. Hard to say though, range on range battles are very dependent on terrain and uniquely vulnerable to poor pathing decisions. I've seen a lot sprinting soldiers continue sprinting into gunfire, when they really should start taking potshots instead. Edit: I SEVERELY overestimated the range that archers can fire at.

If the archers can fight with a hill between them and their opponent, yes. However, they fire at a much slower rate than all but maybe the muskets, so without a hill to protect them they might be in trouble.

@@alexhazel Medieval arrows could travel at roughly 150-200 mph speeds, and with the mass volley arrow blanket tactics historically used, a simple helmet won't protect more than a few arrows out of thousands upon thousands being fired at decently fast rates (10-15 arrows per minute, times however many archers are firing). The medieval archers deserve better.

Would have been a lot closer if you put the redcoats next to the archers and didn't halve the Thompsons. Older armies would have taken longer to kill each other while the modern ones broke on each other earlier giving the older armies a better shot at survival.

I have a cool idea separate all the units into four teams at complete random whether you pick from a hat or whatever and see what combinations for teams you get. You could get trolls, Persians and redcoats on one team versus knights zombies and Romans on another etc etc. Like a lottery draw royal rumble and show a whole video of a few of those battles. I think would just be a neat concept. and every battle would be on a different map. Just an idea.

The glitches bother me more and more, because one glitched guy can cause 100,000 units to be useless by not moving until they kill that one unkillable guy.

I love these 4 faction arena battles. Would it be possible to do one where 4 factions all get orders to take the Mount Olympus (or whatever it’s called) and they all have to race to get to the top and hold off the others along the way? Functionally that might just end up being ground battles at the base of the mountain until someone won, might not work well with the game.

The glitched units made the fire patterns look pretty cool honestly. Would rather have the units not glitch but neat silver lining. I would suggest, if doing this again, removing the shotgunners, lessening their numbers, or trying to place them a little more strategically. They are going to get hammered against range units in a straight up run at each other, probably need to be thought of as melee units. Placing the two older armies close together would also change the outcome, as they would take longer to kill each other, meanwhile the more modern armies smash into each other and even out once they mop each other up. Either way the vids are great and fun to watch no matter what you do.

could you set units on the sides of the pyramids? like on the top & actual slopes? then send waves of zombies in through the gates , with a gunpowder opponent on the step/sides of the pyramids firing into the gauntlet-crossfire. slowly the alley between the pyramids fills up with dead zombies till the pile reaches all the way to the tip of the pyramids and the end of the last gunners.... how many zombies would it take? 10M? you could probably stack several hundred thousand gunners PER PYRAMID FACE

Nah, having a split between shotgunners and thompsons, with equal total numbers, is a huge disadvantage. Shotgunners have practically no range so they'll get hardly any kills before they die, and the thompsons will have to try compensating for that

Just bought the game, I had UEBS 1 for years and had fun with it. Just for the heck of it, I played with the animals and pitted 1M romans vs 25k shrimps. The shrimps won. Oo So my question/request is this... what can stop those shrimps? Can you do us a video featuring them? ;) PS I really like the free range chicken ranged attack too! XD

the issue is , if let's say 10.000 man are ready to shoot and you and your 1000 friends and the 1000 behind you, they'll have enough time to shoot in waves, which happens in this game too (due to weapon range). You can defend as 50.000, but you can't charge as 50.000, basically

For the next videos: please write down, which team is who, BEFORE you start the video. You forgot it in multiple videos already and that info is a basic requirement for viewers. Also, this wasn't a good terrain choice for this battle. Too much unfair terrain advantages in this map. And i also would've liked to see the last stand of each unit. You completely skipped over the last 10.000 archers.

Why doesn't the US have a rifle unit? Pistols and shotguns don't have any range (the Thompson is a pistol round). They could never hold off the German rifles.
