@@DefectiveFish This comment led me down a rabbit hole that led me to discover who the Leagues of Votann actually are. I've heard the name, but didn't know their story. I think they're one of my favorite factions in 40k now, though. Cool space dwarves with ties to pre-heresy and even pre-imperial technology.

Pancreas gets it wrong with the lizardmen, there were plenty of races that did work with the Old Ones or at least left them and their creations alone, the only ones that got the HAMMER treatment were ones like the Sleeper, a giant mind control mantis of doom that gotrek and felix had to kill, they turned to chaos to keep their empire. Then there were the Dragon ogres that were dying out due to their own low birth rates and turned to chaos for immortality. Let's not forget the Fimir, the former chaos chosen bois and gorls. Notice a pattern...? Edit: Also he got it wrong about Kislev, they weren't part of the 13 tribes that Sigmar was trying to unite into the Empire, that would be the Norsii. The Gospodar, aka Kislev were part of a trio of nomadic tribes that saw chaos followers making hassle and decided to ixnay their old home. They then bumrushed the Roppsmen out of the region we now know as Kislev. The Norsii WERE willing to join the Empire as a side note...but they and another tribe were locked in a war to a knife, and Sigmar had to choose. Both were incredibly bloodthirsty and savage so it really came down to the fact the other tribe had a closer connection than the Norsii. Said tribe that Sigmar chose would settle the province known as Middenheim. Edit2: He's wrong about the Chaos dwarves not having grudges, they do. It's just they exact 'recompense' VEEERRRY differently. They will enslaved other dawi zharr that have wronged them and are not able to avoid the punishment, one of these is being sealed in magical armor that is fused to their flesh and used as suicide troops. Edit3: He got the ogre timeline mixed up. Ogres started out as essentially nomadic herders of yaks that would also snacc on people if there were enough available. Not actively obsessed with eating but they were unfinished and saw no reason why not. Then the notchinese and not dragon (because bork that west taiwan wankcrap in the booty) emperor launched a meteor at them to punish the Ogres. This was the maw. It is cthullu with the munchies. It has bonded to the ogres so hard they will never stop being hungry and need to eat SOMETHING every day or else wither away. The meteor borked their homeland, and in their desperation and starvation the ogres turned to cannibalism to survive until they found the Sky titans who were one of the races the Old Ones left alone as they weren't chaos touched. The ogres at all the Sky titans and settled in their former lands, which are now the Mountains of Mourn...and they are the reason they are called that.

The dwarfs won the war of vengeance. They destroyed every elven colony and City in the Old World and the High Elfs were unable to conquer even one karak. Besides the war ended with Gotrek Starbreaker High King of the dwarfs killing the pathetic Phoenix King Caledor II. and taking the Phoenix Crown, it still stands in Karaz-A-Karak to this day. Every time the High Elfs demand the crown back the dwarfs answer by quoting Caledor II."if you want this crown come to Karaz-A-Karak and beg". If this is not a total victory. And yes I know the dwarfs took large casualtys but that and the fact that they managed to hold against the first storm of chaos shows the strength of the old darwi Empire.

While the Dwarfs did get rid of the High Elves and Dark Elves in the Old World they failed to get rid of the Wood Elves in Athel Loren, though they did try.

Kind of unrelated but I have been going on a research bender, trying to determine if it was truly so horrible to be a commoner in the medieval times, such as Warhammer. I have found from reading many, many, MANY, books about it and i came to learn it was actually a lot easier to rise in status then that it is now. (Note I said easier, it still wasn't easy) However living in a world at constant war gives FAR more opportunities to advance. When you have 7 guys ahead of you for the military promotion you need, chances are as long as you are a good fighter and stay alive, those 7 guys will be dead at some point. (During the 30 years war, by 1645 so many nobles lay dead, and so many noble houses lay in ruin, that an soldier who was born the son of a Pig farmer and survived till the end found himself with new lands, and the title of Baron) Noble families went extinct all the time, with commoner families with members who receive favor from other nobles, being elevated in their place. In the world today, there is simply to many people for anybody to realistically climb form the middle class to the elite. It can only be done, now if you come up with an original idea that can be packaged and sold first, or the other way is screwing people out of their money. (see NFT's)

The Skaven need to come to 40k, not only because they would be perfect for the setting given they are the most insane and grimdark aspect of Warhammer Fantasy and AoS but also because they’re entrance into the setting would have to shake things up massively for everyone and honestly that would just be lovely.

In many ways yes, in many other ways, no. From a matterof aesthetics and themes the Imperium is clearly the Empire of Man in Space, in the matter of expendability yes they are like the Skaven in that regard however thats largely because of how massive the Imperium is.

The Imperium is obviously the Empire of Man equivalent in 40k while also being the current Skaven stand in, which hopefully will change when somethings gotta give and actual Skaven come to the setting.
