Monitor light bars are great but backlit led on a monitor is even better in a dark room.

I just have a Philips Hue like lamp pointing at the (white) wall behind my monitors. I can also point it down if I need more direct light on my desk. Also Eyestrain is not something I experience a lot. So I think I'm sorted. Maybe you are right, and you have to try it to see the value. But I think you really don't need to spend as much to solve all of these problems.

I definitely think it’s expensive. However, I haven’t had the opportunity to test many others in different price ranges. But realistically, the price you pay for all the engineering may or may not be worth it for everyone. Regardless, it’s a great desk light. $180 or not. Doesn’t mean I’d tell everyone to buy one.

@@XXIVCONCEPT To call angling an LED so that its not inducing glare "engineering" is kinda offensive to the idea of what engineering is. this light couldn't possibly cost more than 50$ of components to manufacture and thats without the economy of scale and being very liberal. Its corporate greed trying to grab as high of margin as they can and I find it gross.

@@XXIVCONCEPT I made my first desk light at 9 years old, fabricated and wired it myself. Lighting is very simple, even wireless LEDs are about as easy to build with open source components as a lego death star.

it certainly does not take engineering to angle an LED until you get optimal lack of glare and to measure a pivot point so to balance on a monitor.
