@@noah5793 I don’t blame you. I didn’t buy this machine. But it exists. And so I thought it would be interesting to test. The only versions of it I can find now are 16GB or more which at that rate does make it a solid little laptop.

I have just an old Corsair one but I picked up the 9i and I know I probably won't fully like the keyboard so seeing you use it yours plugged in, kinda leaning towards that as well. It didn't come with that cord in the vid did it? Cause your review it had a curled up cord but this vid it was sleaker

Dont consider L9 now, it has dozens of issues, use these topics in google search and you will fiind all the issues, even Notebookcheck has already 2 faulty L9s. Google it: "Lenovo-Legion-9-16IRX9-Legion-9i-review-How-high-end-is-the-RTX-4090-gamer" There are countless threads about the problems with the Legion 9i. Lenovo has been completely silent for months. People, including myself, have reported buying or replacing new Legion 9i dozens of times. The problems persist. Lenovo's departments cant decide who is responsible for those issues, and blaming each other back and forth. Idk. I can run Elden Ring on my steamdeck which start at under $500 so… Find me a gaming laptop for under $500 that’ll run Elden Ring. Switch is also priced pretty well for its performance. Windows handhelds are the only handhelds I’d argue maybe aren’t great when it comes to price to performance but they’re not all bad. In most cases for gaming, they’re still a better value than your average gaming laptop IF gaming is what you’re looking for.

@@XXIVCONCEPT not it isnt, not even remotely close. Laptops have a different price point yeah, but price to performance has a precise meaning: what you pay vs what you get. How much for a lcd steam deck, 400? Ok 400. And for an average 4060 laptop? How about 1000 bucks? Now, for example in cb23 steam deck manages like 4200 points, while that laptop will do 13000 or 16000. And it's in the graphics department when the real gap is, because a 4060 is easily 5 times faster than steam deck. The laptop is 150% more expensive, but 400% faster IN GAMES. So, back to the beginning, what you pay vs what you get. A simple, unquestionable division. And the division has no doubts.

@@niebuhr6197 I’ll agree you can literally measure performance using a standardized metric to understand it. But let me ask you this- is that performance VALUABLE if it’s not a device you wanna use? If it’s a device you don’t enjoy using? Value can’t be determined by some number. This is why I don’t do benchmarks on my channel. They don’t define the products value or overall experience thus are a rabbit hole in defining what is valuable and what is not. Which for consumers, is what actually matters. Measuring performance as a driver of value is an empty numbers race. It always has been. Marketing has trained you to think bigger number and lower price (price to performance ratio) = better value thus better product. But that is simply not always true. Subjectivity has its place in this subject as it pertains to a consumer purchase decision which is the basis of my video. So sure your 4060 laptop could have better price to performance in the data but who cares if the laptop sucks and I don’t wanna use it? People buy product they LIKE to use. Products they DO use. Not products that claim to be better value. Value speaks for itself. It cannot be measure by a standardized test or unit of measurement. Benchmarks help us understand a devices capabilities which in turn is reflected as relative performance and it’s pre-determined value is reflected in the price which is selected and set by the market and the OEM. But benchmarks do not determine a devices value to a user. Performance and Price are only factors. I don’t remember if I related this all back to value in my video- but that was my sticking point about price to performance as it relates to value to the user. Is it stated clearly anywhere that price to performance has a precise standardized meaning? I’d like to see it. Or are we assuming based on best practice what it means and removing the value factor from the conversation?

@@Limitbreak09 Sooooo the X is like an Ally 1.5. Kinda like an OLED Steamdeck situation where if you LOVED the original Ally then the X is an OK upgrade if you’re a die hard fan. If you DONT have an Ally already and NEED a windows handheld then the X is the better option imo. Having tested the Legion Go, Ally, and the Claw and the Ayaneo 2S, so far the Ally is probably still my pick given its accessibility and software. That being said- Windows on a handheld ages like rotten milk. It just seemingly gets worse or more annoying as time goes on. So if you haven’t, watch some reviews of the X and the OLED steamdeck. I have a review of the original Ally and the OLED deck if you like, but if you just want a good handheld, go Steamdeck.

@@XXIVCONCEPT I actually have The trifecta Handheld Rog ally, Steam deck, and Legion. 2 being a gift and 1 i bought. So far tho i do have a use case for all the 3 lol 😆. Rog ally used to be my #1 but after using the legion go and sd it dropped down to #3. #1 legion and #2 the SD oled. Legion go was at the last bottom before, only because that abysmal sharp edges of the controller makes me NOT wanna use it. It so uncomfortable after like 15 mins! But voila! This grip i bought from etsy solve the problem! The grip is as good as the steam deck oled now! But i agree with you. If i need to suggest a handheld gaminh console to a casual, i would definitely say get the steam deck oled. The comfort of the ergonomics, the ease of use of the software, the play pause option is incredible, and most dont really mind playing abovr 30 fps.

You order another. That’s the beauty of the cable not being permanently attached! But the cable should never “go bad”.

Facts. This is why I decided against buying an Ally, LeGo or a Deck. Yes they are compact, clean and portable but, damn, they are weak as hell. For the price of an Ally you can get a proper desktop (assuming you don't need a portable device).

My reference to “correct” has to do with how you choose to configure it for each game you play. Sadly HDR on Windows is a pretty awful experience so even if you turn it on in Windows and set a color profile, you’re still going to see some ghosting and other anomalies. My recommendation is to only enable HDR when playing HDR (Windows Key + Alt + B) enabled games and adjusting the HDR within the supported game. From there it’s up to you to figure what looks best to you. I recommend keeping HDR OFF in Windows itself. There’s no need to keep HDR on when just zooming around on the desktop in my opinion. Use that shortcut to enable and disable HDR as you please.

@@XXIVCONCEPT I understand. On this laptop when I turn on HDR in windows settings there is a slider labeled HDR Content Brightness Slider. What value do you set that to? For the asus zephyrus laptops asus has an article that recommends setting it to 100 (0 is actually the brightest here)
