I have a soft spot for Twilight Princess. Something about the enemy design, darker tone, and nostalgia really stuck with me. The Darknuts in Twilight Princess remain one of my favorite enemies in Zelda games.

Besides BotW, TP is my favorite. It's everything that made OoT great plus so much more. That being said, that long, tedious ass beginning section makes me reluctant to go back to it. Once you get past that though, everything about it is hands down better than all others (except BotW of course)

Fun fact/theory for Wind Waker: Wind Waker link might be the only Link to break the cycle as he wasn't a chosen hero. He wasn't born the hero he earned it by repairing the master sword and reassembling the triforce of courage.

Nah he’s still the chosen hero, every hero is given some crazy ordeal before he can fight off Ganon/Demise. He only needed to repair the sword because Ganon killed the 2 sages that kept its power

i haven't played Twilight Princess in a while but i remember the boss battles being difficult and challenging for me in a really fun way. I love skyward sword, it will always be my number 1, but the boss battles can feel very easy at times and the only thing holding them back from being a complete breeze is how the controls can go wonky sometimes (which is why i prefer the silent realms). Twilight Princess had a much darker tone and style, and an overall air of being more difficult than other Zelda games, and that's reflected in the boss fights which i really appreciate! The water dungeon always gives me so much pain though tbh like not even in the good way it's just frustrating to me idk why-

It’s always refreshing to see someone else’s takes on the Zelda games. Growing up, most fans got an earful of “OOT or MM is the best in the franchise and if you disagree you’re wrong.” But it’s really refreshing seeing love going into the other games like LTTP and Minish Cap! OoT and Majora’s Mask are kinda like the video game equivalent of “A New Hope” and “The Empire Strikes Back” for me. I know the sequel is is the superior one in it’s medium but the first title made SUCH an impression on me (OoT, though not my first game, was the game that made me love video games) that I’d choke on my words if I tried to say any other title was my favorite.

@@JonSmith-hk1bq I'm about halfway through my first run of MM ever, and playing it immediately after having beaten OoT for the first time ever, and while I enjoyed OoT and was thoroughly impressed by nearly all the dungeons, MM is on another planet altogether. The game is essentially a completionist's dream come true. It's not lost on me that, with a nearly 2-year turnaround, the game producers rectified the density issue with OoT's overworld (relatively massive but sparse map, combined with a slow-moving Link) by shrinking the map in MM, but adding layers via the dimension of time to make this game feel so much more "full," if you will. While OoT had me arguing with myself about whether spending so much time playing an outdated game is worthwhile (your appreciation of your time is ever-increasing as you age), MM instead has me wishing I had more time in the day to devote to feverishly playing it. BOTW to me is far-and-away the best Zelda title of all time, but MM is right on its tail.

I honestly liked phantom hourglass a lot more than spirit tracks. I played it first and it always stuck out as more original than spirit tracks. I really liked the temple of the ocean king, and the overall creation of the phantom sword. ( finally beating able to kill the phantoms is one of the most satisfying things in any zelda game.) That being said, Byrne is still one of my second favorite character in the entire franchise. What’s more is his awesome design and interesting developments.

Twlight Princess is top 3 for me. I think giving it number 8 is a little high given what it brought to the Zelda franchise. The length of the game, the story and progression, the dungeons and boss fights, they are all massive advances in the Zelda franchise imo and its darker and more mature take to its story and game world was just SO well done. And i do not believe Botw deserves a number 1 spot. Its a great game, but I think ppl have blown it up way too much. Majoras Mask, OoT, and Twlight Princess all had more content, story, dungeons, items and side activities to do than botw did.

Looking online, the average time to 100% the games are as follows: Ocarina of Time: 37 hours Majora’s Mask: 31 hours Twilight Princess: 56 hours Breath of the Wild: 189 hours Considering BotW takes 3 times as long as the longest of the 3 you mentioned, I guess I’m confused on what you mean by those games have more content and side activities? There are SO MANY side quests, activities, and content to BotW it’s insane. Whether or not you agree with their ranking, it’s just facts!

Completion time doesn't mean anything if it's hollow. Of those 189 hours at least 100 are just to find the Korok seeds. And I really love botw for so many reasons, but the dungeons of TP, the creativity of SS and the story of OoT and MM is something that cannot be discussed.

I play it on the Nintendo Switch Virtual Combat, and it isn’t good. First of all, the controls suck because they were designed to be like the N64 Controller you use to play, but it just ends up sucking worst than just playing with the N64 controller which is already a terrible controller to begin with. I also dislike the combat, the way Link moves is really weird and I hate how focusing blocks the top and bottoms of the screen. But it’s pretty good other than these things. Too bad the TERRIBLE controls make me so frustrated I don’t want to play.

I think the reason why a lot of people don’t like the game is because they had high expectations for it. I’m one of those people, reason being because four swords adventure was such a fun game. I think one of the worst things they did was getting rid of the fourth link. Imagine how much more creative the puzzles and bosses could’ve been with another Link

Skyward Sword was my first ever Zelda game Still to this day is the music, battle mechanics and story mesmerise me and I no matter how many times I play the game I've never gotten bored of it. The motion controls for me worked well and work even better in the remake so its truly a delight to play

a link between worlds is one of the most overrated, it replaced the expert dungeon design with an item rental system that just meant you would go in a dungeon realised you needed an item to finish it go grind for rupees then get the item. It's clearly a stepping stone to BotW's runes with because multiuse items that offered creativity. But honestly it did not work. Link turning into a painting did work however it just didn't get the expansion it needed with only a couple of bosses really taking advantage of that.

you know as someone who has played, beaten and loved the DS games (and being the only Zelda games I've ever beaten and i have tried many times to beat other games like OoT and MM but those were too hard at the time with the Zelda Collection on Gamecube i owned) It's nice to see both get in the top 20. I was really scared both would be at the bottom but thankfully: there are worst games. and you know what: I'll take Hyrule Warriors above Spirit Tracks. ST is a great main line game but HW is just alot of fun and yes: I owned the 3DS version cause i didn't own a Wii U and i still had fun.

Twilight is a personal favourite of mine due to its amazing dungeons and puzzles as well as a really cool and fun combat engine. Breath of the wild isn’t as good as a Zelda game, but gosh is it a fantastic game that lets you do whatever the heck you want whenever the heck you want. Link between worlds got me hooked when I first got it with how pleasant of a surprise it was, and I’ve appreciated alttp a lot more once I started playing a bunch of randomisers of it(very addicting). And then obviously Ocarina and Majoras Mask are just special. I do prefer Ocarina and I think I also prefer the 3ds version of it, but both belong on any Zelda fan’s top 10. I will now add that I haven’t actually played wind waker or beaten skyward sword or Minish Cap, so my opinions could change in the future.

I love the legend of Zelda series! I always seems to find so much greatness in most of the games from the 2d and 3d games. Everyone has their personal favorites but mine have to be a link to the past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Minish Cap the most of the franchise. (Still haven't played BOTW yet so can't count that one unfortunately.)

Started playing BOTW not long ago. It's amazing of course but took me a while. The world is so open and huge it was overwhelming for a while. Prob put in around 200 hrs. and only got one beast. 😂

I thought I loved Majora's Mask before. After playing many randomizers of it the past 2 years, I find that I now love it even more. The Legend of Zelda series lends itself incredibly well towards randomizers, but there's something about Majora's Mask randomization that is just incredible. I learned so many different movement options that I hadn't known before, and all the different side quests in MM being able to hold required items for progression is really fun. It also helps that the team behind the Majora's Mask randomizer has allowed for the community to implement their own music that can be randomized as well (the randomizer comes with some extra base music, but you can download way more from the MMR Discord that were uploaded by the community--it makes for a really enjoyable experience).

I've always loved windwaker. The thought of traveling the ocean, Ganons design, how you upgrade the sword, the Rito's connection to the Zora, almost everything else. Just wish Nintendo would put it on switch already.

Huh, I genuinely think windwaker is harder than a lot of the other 3D Zelda games. Windwaker has the heaviest emphasis on using new abilities to explore previously unreachable places and some of the major upgrades for progression are locked behind series of puzzles that are harder than anything you would find in OOT, BOTW, and TP.

I gave you a thumbs up, but, I can't help to be critical. Everybody always complains about how in Breath of the Wild the weapons break, no dungeons, the Divine Beast were too easy, there wasn't enough story telling, can't explore underwater, the Blights were all the same and Ganon was way too easy to beat. But yet, it always seems to end up as number one. Don't get me wrong, I love it. Breath of the Wild is my top third pick, mostly because of the mechanics and the crap you can do to where it makes me want to play it over and over. And besides the weapons breaking at first, I never complained about the other stuff. Still, I enjoyed the video. ;)

Personally, I believe that Majoras Mask is the best Zelda game. BOTW is a good game, but not a very good zelda game in my opinion. Majoras mask is just so filled to the brim with little secrets, dialogues and details that it just can't be topped in my opinion

I thought Windwakers dungeons were too simple, and I really noticed they had cut a dungeon I felt like there weren't enough of them. But looking back: The moment you have that whole sea to yourself and can just explore, and all the little secrets, the art style that hasn't aged and will never age, the best told mainline Zelda story, It's just a magical game!

the charm of wind waker isnt necessarily the dungeons tho for me, it's the npcs on windfall island, imo it recapture the feeling of a mini majoras mask quite well, and they just have so much personality and it's interesting to figure out all the side quests they have. The dungeons are pretty great too though but i do agree there arent enough of them. but exploring the mini islands and solving their puzzles was great as well.

I've always loved Link's Awakening and Twilight Princess for their darker stories and amazing dungeons. But Breath of the wild was an amazing experience. The exploration, the combat, and the story were all amazing. I think Breath of the Wild perfectly nails the post-apocalyptic theme. Instead of a few survivors trying to save the human race like other games of the same theme does, several towns of people are just trying to make their way in the world. It isn't scary or violent. It's just quiet. I think the music perfectly captures that as well.

I wouldn't have put BotW at the top, maybe around 5 or 6. The thing that bugs me with BotW is that it is so different from what we have come to expect from the series. Some love that, and I get it but to me I'd have rather it have some of those classic style dungeons, similar to how Elden Ring has areas that play just like the more linear areas from Dark Souls. I'm hoping the sequel does do this. I'm sure I'll enjoy it either way, but I am craving some of those puzzle box style dungeons.

If Zelda had never incorporated a large change of any sort, then we wouldn't have an OoT, MM, Wind Waker, or even many things that weren't in the original games but later onwards became synonymous with the franchise.

@@cubicalprobably I understand your point but all of those games in particular still featured the most fundamental elements of a Zelda game, many of which were missing from BOTW. I totally get what the OP is saying, because while I think BOTW is a great open world game, it will never be in my top Zelda games overall, because it just doesn't feel like a Zelda game to me. If the sequel brings back those missing elements while still retaining the many things that made BOTW great, it has the potential to become the best Zelda game in the series.

I hope BotW2 actually has things to do. The first game's world felt so bloated and huge just for the sake of feeling huge, but over half of your game time will consist of finding korok seeds and doing shrines (many of which ultimately just blend together). It's probably the biggest reason why I couldn't get into it, I felt no incentive to explore. Hopefully BotW2 fixes this, as well as brings back actually good and interesting dungeons

I found that I enjoy 2D Zelda a lot more than 3D Zelda and I'm not fully sure why. Only reason I can think of is because the 2D ones put more focus on the dungeons while the 3D ones have you dancing around doing other inane garbage much more often. Still, it's weird to be someone who doesn't have fun with Ocarina of Time, Skyward Sword, OR Breath of the Wild.

I just realized that a lot of the most nostalgic Zelda games for me growing up - Four Swords Adventures, the Oracle games, Phantom Hourglass - are rather mid. Though, it's not like I haven't played a good Zelda game - Link to the Past, Wind Waker, Majora's Mask, and the others I mentioned above are still good in their own right. I have missed the rabbidluigi Zelda videos, they were what made me first subscribe to your channel and binge your videos back in 2014. The fast pacing of this video is a welcomed change. Out of all of the games that I have played, my ranking is: 1. The Wind Waker 2. Majora's Mask 3. Ocarina of Time 4. Twilight Princess 5. Skyward Sword 6. The Minish Cap 7. A Link Between Worlds 8. Spirit Tracks 9. Link's Awakening 10. A Link to the Past 11. Phantom Hourglass 12. TriForce Heroes 13. Breath of the Wild 14. Oracle of Ages 15. The Legend of Zelda 16. Age of Calamity Demo (lol) 17. Zelda 2 There is a big gap between 10th and 11th place, and another one between 13th and 14th I guess. I do consider Ocarina of Time to be the best game ever made, although it's not my personal favourite, but recently I've noticed some parts of Wind Waker that I really don't like. Chances are OoT might claim that #1 spot one day, though I love Majora's Mask way too much for that to happen. I still haven't gotten over the fact that people like BotW so much and most importantly, that its style is the future of Zelda, so I cannot say that I'm looking forward to the new game at all. At least I'll always have the old ones to replay.

my favorite Zelda game is Skyward Sword. The art style is just so bright and vibrant, i absolutely adore the final boss battle with the lightning and Demise's curse setting up the rest of the series, and the gameplay especially in HD is so good, even if the motion controls on the Wii can be a bit wonky at times. It's one of the first video games i ever played and i think i'm a little biased but me and my dad were there right when it came out and he let me do all the easier missions flying around on the bird while he did the boss fights for me. The silent realms are probably my favorite part though, aside from the flying mechanics of the bird (i have a soft spot for that), because it turns an otherwise upbeat high-stakes adventure game into a surprisingly visually beautiful survival horror with amazing music that really makes you feel the terror of the trials. I also feel like Link and Zelda are characterized very well in that game, I love their dynamic it just feels very sweet and human in that game the way I don't get with my other favorite games, excluding BOTW because BOTW is just objectively the Best.

My favorite is Breath of the Wild as I firmly believe it's the greatest open world game of all time, but my second favorite would definitely be Majora's Mask and my third favorite would probably be A Link Between Worlds. After that it's a lot more iffy but I'm a big fan of Link's Awakening and the Oracle games. Not a fan of wind waker since I think the dungeons suck and the great sea is far too large and boring, though I do think it is both the best looking and most charming Zelda. IMO OoT is far too overrated. Link to the Past could have been amazing if the sword's hitbox was a bit bigger like with A Link Between Worlds but as of now it's just okay. Twilight Princess is amazing. Skyward Sword is okay. The NES Zelda's kinda suck. Age of Calamity and Hyrule Warriors are amazing. Minish Cap is great. Honestly Zelda might be one of Nintendo's most consistent franchises along with Kirby. Little to no bad games at all besides the NES and the weird 3rd party ones. (aka the CDi and Tingle games) Zelda also has arguably the least toxic Nintendo fandom relative to it's size. Like, it's one of Nintendo's heaviest hitters and yet it's fanbase is FAR less toxic than Mario and ESPECIALLY Pokemon. Meanwhile smaller fanbases like Xenoblade and Fire Emblem are really toxic. At least they're not as bad as Pokemon, which honestly these days is far worse than Undertale, Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnite, and FNAF even at their peaks.

@@firenze6478 You can stasis an enemy for combat strategy. Use magnesis to swing, push, or drop metal into enemies. Snipe from a far with the bow or throw bombs from above. Charge and run them over with a horse. Cause other enemies to attack each other. Use elemental weapons to cause status effects. Throw your melee weapon to knock your opponent to the ground and still their weapon. Combat is at it most indepth in this Zelda game that I'm sure I missed some options. Can't say much about the small amount of enemies tho but I guess there was enough that it didn't get stale to me and I can see the second game adding much more in the future.

Seeing wind waker ranked so high makes me incredibly happy. I’ve played it since I was a kid and it’s my favourite not just for nostalgic reasons but it was a bold step from majora’s mask that I feel didn’t get the credit it deserved. Toon link is a fucking badass
