Wow man what an honor to meet you (if only virtually). He was a big influence on me growing up as I knew he was also from the shoreline here in CT. I currently live in New Haven and used to play in a few Hair Bands in the early 90’s when Steelheart got popular. His huge kit and even “Huger” drum sound was the perfect compliment to Mike’s amazing vocals! I still love to jam to their title album as well as the follow up “Tangled under Reins”. In fact “Late for the Party” was my housemates anthem when we rented a big old farm house where we had keg parties all summer long! Sib my channel and I’ll dedicate the next SH cover to you sir! Rock on!

This is one of those songs where, if you're driving and almost home and it comes on your radio (fat chance nowadays!) or cd player/XM radio, you drive around the block a few times until it's finished....THEN you can pull into the driveway.

Great cover! John was one of the true unsung heros of 80s hard rock. For more John Fowler drumming goodness check out the song "Hooked on a good thing" by Rage of Angels, the band John and Frank were in before joining Steelheart.

I didn't know about him passing until I just saw your comment, I had the good fortune to hang out and enjoy a few drinks with Fowler years ago when he was on tour, He was very much a happy people type person, He always stuck out in my mind and he's a lot of fun to be around. Absolute amazing guitarist and to pass at such a young age is very sad. He will forever live in my mind and heart.

As soon as I saw you playing I could tell you are a technically proficient drummer and that playing drums is in your heart, ... just like me, i play drums and guitar. I also had a TD-30 kit for a while and was gonna do what you're doing with videos. but I still need to learn how to edit videos, Keep up the great work brother ! \,,/ :D \,,/

That’s awesome man. I respect any musician that can play more than one instrument well. That’s not me lol! I do love the drums and my TD-20 though. Thanks for checking out my channel! The Td-30 is very similar to the td20 expanded. Video editing is trial and error but there are many user friendly programs out there. Rock on brother!

Why John Fowler never used this sound live? He only used acoustic sounds.
@rogerjones60333 жыл бұрын
My wife and I were listening to seasonal music on Music Choice channel 941 while we were eating Thanksgiving dinner and I heard some low chord progressions behind the higher piano notes that sounded like the intro to "She's Gone"...I said no way. I kept listening and finally had to get up and look over at the screen...it was a song by George Winston (1982) entitled "Thanksgiving". I'm just a drummer but I CAN recognize certain chord progressions, etc. I'm wondering if it's just a coincidence or did Steelheart guitarist somehow hear this "Thanksgiving" song and subconsciously (or on purpose) incorporate these (or very similar) chord patterns into "She's Gone"
@rogerjones60335 жыл бұрын
Nice job man, found this linked to John's (RIP one of my drum heroes) son GalacticSeabass, who I'm presuming you probably know since you hung out with his dad John some. I play a Roland TD-6 double kick kit at my church as a praise & worship leader with my wife! I need to look into getting a better sounding "verb" kit, but we don't actually have a real band. I play drums over everything and sing lead on most of it...the "verb" kit would get lost in mix...but you nailed it! Personally I think "She's Gone" is my favorite Steelheart song. I'd like to see you play that...it's not as hard, just good solid drumming! BTW You should check out John's incredible work with Christian metal band "Rage of Angels" before Steelheart. This was where I discovered him as one of my drum heroes next to Robert Sweet of Stryper! Great job man!

A random recommended video on my KZbin from Mr. Fournier, an oldie but goodie! I just want to know who ripped who off- Steelheart or White Lion? This song sounds so much like White Lion's "Wait". Hope you are still doing good and working on making that come back soon!

What's the story on the cymbals and hi-hat? Those aren't sound dampeners, are they?
@mfournier013 жыл бұрын
No dampeners. The entire kit is electronic and I program the sounds through the module! They can be choked to cut off the sound just like real cymbals as well
