I used to semi-frequent The Church from 1998-2010. Then I moved away from Dallas to Oregon. I really didn't realize how great the Church was until I went to the goth clubs here... I continued to keep up to date with what was going on there so when it was announced it was closing I was sad that I'd never get to see it again. Thanks for the video so I can pretend! :)

I loved going there especially on Halloween. I didn’t go as much because of work. It played the coolest music ever: way better than any clubs. It was a place for the underdog: it had an aura/ a mana that felt empowering.

Man, I will miss this place. I remember the first time I heard of this club. I had moved from Florida to Texas a while back and for my birthday I wanted to go to a goth club. I used to go to clubs like the Morgue and Club Vamp back in my home town and I was missing that scene so bad. My buddy was like, “dude we should check out the church, it’s at lizard lounge but on Sunday’s it turns into a goth club.” When I first arrived & entered I instantly fell in love. I remember wanting to hear Combichrist - this shit will fuck you up for my bday and I walked up to the Dj booth of course it was loud so I had to yell into JoeViruses ear which by the way, he’s an intimidating dude. I requested the song and he just nodded. Kept dancing and drinking with my wife and friends and when the song came on I looked back up to him and he pointed back at me! lol stupid story I know but man what an awesome night! I may have not gone often but every time I did, it was always great.

I use to data someone from Dallas and I remember going there back in 2009 or something, when I was visiting the US. I kinda made a note in my head to go back there if I ever was in Texas again....sad to hear it's closed :(

Fuck sake, 20 years? I used to go to this place twice a week back when The Church first opened. Practically lived in this place back in the day. I hope the people are as interesting now as they were back then, met some real... interesting people. Did they move the DJ booth out away from the bathroom? Man, that was a good time.

Yup, I miss it as well. This place withstood all it was given, and in the end........ a fucking pandemic took it out. Hopefully Don will do something on a large scale again and bring it back ..... The Church 2.0

+GhouledKS haha!! Back then we had cool places to go after to eat like Dirty Dan's Lakewood Cafe and Metro Diner and Sol's Taco Lounge, but no real greasy spoons anymore. But yeah, the hot dog guy in the 90's would have saved me a ton of cash back then!!
