this video helped a lot more to understand how the chinese build the structure of its sentences. it´s a bit different from english. for example she says " I at beijing´s university study " < - in english you would say " I study at the university in beijing " something like that. forgive my english, I´m a native portuguese, but you can get an idea of what i meant.

请问,”往“和“向”有什么差别?谢谢老师
@EverydayChinese4 жыл бұрын
"向" VS "往" 向 and 往 can be placed after the verb, however it has to be used with an appropriate verb, Often used verbs are 开, 飞, 发, 运, 送, 寄, 带, 驶 etc. As you can see, these are words that at least imply some sort of motion. In addition, compared to 向, 往 is used more often with those verbs, because 往 expresses the destination while 向 merely expresses a direction. Structure Verb + 向 / 往 + 具体方向 Examples 这 趟 火车 开 往 沈阳。 This train is heading towards Shenyang. 这 趟 航班 飞 往 纽约。 This plane is flying to New York. 一 辆 黑 色 的 小 轿车 慢慢地 从 东 驶 向 西。 The black limo slowly went from East to West. 像 鸟儿 一样 飞 向 蓝天。 The little birds flew towards the sky. I just wish it had the literal translation, as many other videos of this channel do. It's easier to understand the grammar with them. And I think the words shouldn't be separated. For example, 可以听听音乐 should be written "keyi tingting yinyue" not "ke yi ting ting yin yue". Having to look up the meaning and check if the characters are together or separate takes a lot of time.

I am on a quest to try to get a better understanding of prepositions after encountering this sentence: “你门怎么样去考卢虑这款产品背后的商业价值在哪里?” I find this word order very confusing. They often talk about the object following the preposition just as in English. But here, where the preposition is “背后” or “behind” it seems that this preposition itself is being treated as an object. The straight Chinglish translation would be “You how go consider this type product behind of commercial value located where?” Or in English, “How do you go consider the commercial value behind this type of product?” The confusing part for me is “this type product behind of commercial value” to mean “the commercial value behind this product.” I feel like i can narrow down my confusion to the preposition, “背后” Its like its using “behind as a preposition in the passive structure. Which is just a little over the top for me at my current level. Even though I know what it means because of the translation, it still doesn’t sit right in my brain and i find it hard to follow this path of logic even though I know what they are saying. Is there any suggestion that might help me understand this flow more intuitively? Is there a way i can breakdown this sentence so that i can be prepared when words structures like this come without warning?
@sethother8012 Жыл бұрын
I think i may have just answered my own question to some degree. I saw this structure in another sentence. I think it’s a lot easier to treat a preposition as an object when we put the word “the” in front of it. In Mandarin, they don’t use “the.” Hence, my confusion. But I think “This type product the behind of commercial value” is so much easier to digest then “This type product behind of commercial value” because I almost need the “the” to recognize that “behind” is a passive structure. It’s still a little wobbly for me though. And certainly not easy to digest prepositions in that order fluently
