In 1992 I started my freshman year at a small university in my hometown of Antigonish Nova Scotia Canada! Antigonish was about as far away from sports cars as just about anywhere, so when a student from the big city of Toronto pulled up to the library in a bright yellow 300zx twin turbo it was like a shot of lightning. I was instantly in love! That set me on a 30 year love affair with a car that I have never even driven, let alone owned. I have vowed to own one someday but with kids and life in general the time has never been right. This video is exactly what I needed to see, someone falling in love with their car crush all over again. Beautifully shot, and presented. Extremely well done!

I owned a 300ZX Twin Turbo when it first came out; it remains to this day my favorite car that I've owned. White, red leather, manual, auto climate control, with the wheels painted Miami Vice White to match the car. (It replaced a 2nd Gen RX-7 Turbo II, which was fun, but harsh). The Z was very fast, smooth, great handling, and amazing presence. It was what the Corvette of the day tried to be. I think the Z32 TT may just be my all-time favorite of the epic 90’s Japanese sports cars! It’s probably because when I was growing up my uncle had a mint 260Z and he took me to the Atlanta car show in 1991 where they had a then-brand new 300ZX that we got to sit in and lust after (as well as the old IMSA race car). I’ve absolutely loved the Z32 ever since and hope to some day find a mint and stock example for myself. Don’t get me wrong, I’m in love with the Supra Turbo, RX7, NSX and 3000GT VR4 as well, but my very favorite remains the Z32. Such an epic design!

Thank you so much for this video! Dude, you are driving my car! I owned a 1991 300zx TT from 1996 to 2016 - red, with the Stillen Level 2 upgrades that included an HKS exhaust system and intake, as well as the hot chip that gave it an estimated 400 horsepower. And, that was PLENTY, for me! That car was a blast to drive. Like you, I would drive for a couple of hours north from Atlanta to drive in the Appalachian mountains on twisting curvy roads. I would generally stay in third gear at about 4000-4500 RPM so I had those turbos on tap whenever I wanted them. That had been my dream car from the time I saw one - a black 1990 twin turbo in the fall of 1989. I knew I would have one, eventually - and, I got mine in 1996 with 59,000 miles on it for $17,500.00. The original owner still had the sticker from when he purchased it from the dealer for $36,580.00. But, like you said, life happens and things change, and I sold it with 98,000 miles on it in April of 2016 - and, bought a Ford C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid. I really needed the 60 mpg and more cargo space for my job. I would like to think I would buy another one - but, realistically, that's not likely to happen. But, I will always remember that car. It's still my favorite car of all time, regardless of price! And, I'm sure you will enjoy yours for as long as you choose to own it!

Love the excitement! After not owning a fun car for 15 or more years, this past February I purchased a silver 2010 Camaro SS manual with 41k miles for $17, 250. I drive it everyday it doesn't rain and it never gets old. Still catch my self looking at it out of the window at home. The car came with lowering springs and a cold air intake. Within the first two months of owning it, I added a MBRP axle back exhaust. It sounds so amazing. I am never getting rid of it. I thought I was a little crazy when I bought it at first but so glad I did. I actually had a practical reason for buying it as I was commuting at the time and was looking for a fun and cheap commuter. It does not feel cheap to me. Feels like a car I will own and love for a very long time. I have so much fun every time I go for a drive. I was never even a Chevy guy but this was the right deal at the right time and turned out so perfect!

Time machine is an accurate term for these cars. I have owned my Z32 convertible for 8 years and everytime I drive it I am transported back to my youth. Absolutely beautiful ❤️

I'm currently in the middle of restoring my '94 TT which has been sitting for the better part of a decade. I've been wrenching on it for about 5 months now and I'm only a day or two's worth of work away from finally having it healthy and back on the road. Seeing Todd instantly fall in love again gives me hope that my experience will be the same.

I definitely wanted one of these cars and they were highly undervalued for some time. Over the last 18 months the price has come up significantly. So, I ended up with a 1992 3000GT VR4 in nearly identical condition to this 300zx - 73k miles, almost completely original besides a BOV, and also red. I love the car and am genuinely happy with it. Would be a great vehicle to visit with this channel as well!

Two great car choices for going back to the roots and avoiding "advances" in technology of the new cars. I have owned two twin turbo 300zx cars. I loved the car so much that I bought it twice. I hope you didn't sell the Lotus 🤠...Cheers

I have the same car. I've owned it for over 20 years. We've had some up and downs. In 2010 i replaced the engine with a 1995 jdm engine with the new style injectors. I also did some other mods. Anyway, thanks for showing the z some love!

“Discover the car on the way home” I was terrified of that until I did it with my first 911. Very cool car. Friends of mine had these. I prefer the 928, though🙂

I had a 1990 300zx twin turbo, I rebuilt the engine and put bigger turbos on it and relocated fuse box, plus a lot more things, it was a really nice car. Had that for about 12 years. I do miss the car and I definitely missed the t-tops during the nice summer days, wish they built them again. Love it, enjoy it!

This is exactly my type of car - a coupé, beautiful, cool, powerful, comfortable, and even kind of luxurious. Cars that were made for two people to get the most enjoyment out of a trip.

Such a great pure sports car. My best friend has a 1989 Z32 twin turbo Japanese right hand model. He has spent the last decade restoring and basically perfecting the chassis along upgrades to the engine, tranny and clutch. Bigger turbos, upgraded intercooler. The car is insane now and is about 600bhp now.

Another masterpiece. Great cars. A friend had the 300 ZX non-turbo version and it was so fun to head out and enjoy. We shared a day long road trip together after losing our jobs to layoffs and it was amazing how it lifted our spirits. Great memories. Thank!

My dream car in high school. Eventually owned 2 twin turbos over the years, red and burgundy, but practicality and age eventually caught up with me.

I recently re-purchased my old ‘91 Toyota Celica GT Four Group A Rallye (69/150) after a 15 year hiatus. It’s an absolute Time Machine and I love it. Basically what he said in the video about everything 😁

Great video--and great scenery! I remember taking my 280ZX Turbo into the dealership for some work and they handed me the keys to a new 300ZX (non-Turbo) for a test drive. It was a brilliant car and I am sure that the Twin Turbo is so much better. One of Japan's best-looking cars and a real keeper. And as to buying a car on the other side of the country--I did this with my C6 Corvette and had a five day trip across Canada, my first time actually driving a Corvette. 2 1/2 times the horsepower of my 280ZX Turbo, and uses half the gas so there is something to be said for progress!

The way you described driving the car back is exactly the way I felt when I picked up my M3 and drove it back from UT to NC. Loving it within the first few minutes of driving and struggling to believe it was mine.

This car is classic and has aged very well. Not only do you get sleek styling and performance, you get the dependability of Japanese manufacturing. Nice purchase!

Great car I had one before, a 1990 Z32 TT in white (it was an automatic). The problem is that maintenance is very expensive and very few mechanics know how to fix them (don't try the Nissan dealerships, they have no clue on how to fix them). I'm looking to buy a Z32 NA 2+2 as they are more comfortable and relatively easier to maintain.
@rickhunter65133 жыл бұрын
I’ve always loved the 300zx TT and was looking to buy one several years ago. However, throughout all my research, I found this car was an absolute maintenance queen. That tight engine space is a real bitch to work on. It scared me off because I knew trying to find someone to work on it was going to be tough and very expensive. Still wish I had a Z though ….

Yeah you almost have to have the car shipped to a reputable shop somewhere in the country. Just certain areas have few experts. I can say that East Valley in Mesa AZ and Red Rock in G Junction have done a great job on my 370z, but obviously that's apples / oranges vs. the much nicer/older classic. There are Nissan dealers to be avoided, that have super high turnover and for critical work, avoid at all cost.

I feel your excitement. I sold my 90 NA (black, T Tops 5 spd) 4 years ago after 27 years of ownership at 81 000 kms (50 miles) and still feel that I made a mistake. My 2016 370z Roadster is nice, but not quite the same.

I'm a total Z fan, own several, but the 300 is my favorite. Still love the styling above all the models. Same lust when in high school. Sold mine 15 years ago and maybe it's time to find another too

My first car was a z32 , I modded the crap out of it, then I flipped it , totally upside down on a spirited drive. That ttop glass saved my life . 300zx z32 is part of me and always will be, fantastic buy!

I still remember Todd saying in his very first 300zx review long ago and i quote - “when those turbos kick in, it feels like someone drop kicked you in the a$$ !” .. No one said it better. And during this review, you can see the happiness and excitement in Todds face. Even after having driven 100s of great cars.. this 30 year old 300zx drops kicks you in the a$$ ! Great review.

I did the same thing for the same reasons a couple of years ago. Found a TT manual with 370whp and loved it for a year. Sold it and moved on to the next car on the bucket list. Enjoy yours!

Congrats! I had a 93 300ZX Sapphire Blue Metallic, 5-speed, leather. It was my dream car in college and was my motivation for a long time - to get my degree I mean! After I graduated, life got in the way (student loans, saved up for a home, etc.) but I finally bought one in 2006. I had mine from 2006 (40k miles) to 2012 (46k miles), I sold it to a buddy of mine and I replaced it with a C6 Corvette which (this is gonna sound crazy) but I bought the Corvette as an update homage to the Z32. Dedicated sports coupe, no back seat, hatch back, removable top (glass top for the Z32 open air vibe), manual transmission, driver focused cockpit, nice big gauges and on and on. I loved mine and I still miss it sometimes, always wish I had the garage space for 4 cars instead of just 3. Cheers and congrats again on the gorgeous Z32!

Man, I'm 18 and have been looking for one since I was 15, I love these cars because to me, they're the most underappreciated 90s JDM car, and got overshadowed by the Skyline and Supras. I love watching videos about them, and everyone I watch I get even more excited. Sucks the prices are slowly going up(ignoring the used car markup) and I hope by the time I can afford a nice one, they're not too expensive by then. Wish me luck!

Loved my 90’ 300zx twin turbo, a true drivers car. Happy you went back to yours. I met my now wife 16 years ago with mine, we drove as two 18 year olds with the Ttops off, driving all the time with nowhere to go. I own the next best thing now, my Shelby GT350. Will add a 300zx TT to my collection soon!

Thank you Todd, to high light the mechanical link that is missing today. The part of your vids that I prefer is the explanation of the driver interaction with the steering, the throttle, the mechanical feel and chassis dynamics. Very good work from both of you!
