this video really made me question if someone was determined enough to keep hitting mercy over and over again when they fought sans and whether or not Toby made a game mechanic of that. like it seemed something that he would have programmed in the game. even though he made it to where sans keep killing you after you give him mercy. if Toby had done just what you said, I think it would add more feels and more endings to the game and overall make it better.

Saving Chara and Asriel? Well... there is an Undertale AU called "Save Chara AU" and its made using the sprites of Undertale. First there was a comic and after there is an animation. You should definitely watch it if you haven't already, I know you're not happy with the existing happy ending since Toby Fox intended it to be that way for the genocide route. =)

Your subconsciousness starts off evil but the actions of the mind changes the subconscious ever so slightly until the point where the subconscious has more power over the mind then the mind itself.

um....there are a LOT more people who believe that Chara ISN"T evil than those who think they are evil, at least going by the comments here. also its just a comic, no need to get all heated about it. first of all comics are not as interactive as games and every story needs a villain. in the game of course the villain in the end is YOU, but for comics wouldn't they need to replace the "player" element with an actual character because it works better? i think so.

Here in the hardcore Undertale community, we are having absolutely no sympathy for any single person or thing that gets any of this beautifully crafted storyline incorrect. Other people like me actually have feeling for every NPC to Easter egg and everything in between. If this person wants to make something undertale, you don’t go saying that the person that has been abused in their past and tried to commit suicide, but found a loving family and tried to do everything they could to protect them, even if that meant sacrificing themselves to help them. Genocide has corrupted this sweet child, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t a good person. No one has any place to make one of the nicest characters in the game a villain because of some psychopath who decided to kill everyone they met. I have no tolerance for people like you who think it’s convenient to blame the person that YOU made kill their entire family and everyone they looked up to, just because they actually acknowledged that you’re evil, and gave you consequences even after you reset everything. Because even though everyone is back... It doesn’t mean you never killed them.

Well, acording to Undertale Lore, it would be Frisk who was pushing Chara to genocide, since they can't do anything to stop the human. But most of comics makes it Chara's idea, not Frisk's. Acording to the lore, not the gameplay, Frisk wanted to know what woud happen, as Flowey did, if they killed everybody. Chara, on the other hand, was confused at first, as they said it themselves. But at every monster they killed, they lost their compassion and sanity slowly, until they became as maniac and merciless as Flowey.

I’ve always believed that Chara and Frisk are two people in the same body, sharing the same soul of Determination. It’s where you choose genocide that makes you a Chara-controlled Frisk or Pacifist that makes you a Frisk-controlled Chara (Asriel knows Frisk isn’t Chara but it’s easy for him to pretend the former is the latter). Frisk is more towards the side of good and Chara is more toward the side of hate to start off with. It’s literally a game of teaching nature vs nurture. You, the player, are the one to determine what Frisk/Chara is taught. If you affirm Chara’s beliefs, they take control. If you affirm Frisk’s beliefs, they take control.

The first 20 seconds of this comic is how I perceive Chara during a genocide run. To me Chara starts out neutral in the Ruins until you start killing everything. After you, the player, begin to kill everything, over the course of the run Chara gets more and more corrupted, until the very end of the game

Looking back, this comic gives the best explanation for the whole Genocide run and who’s to blame. And the answer: All of us- Chara, Frisk, AND the Player- are accountable for their own actions. However, the whole system is Freudian almost, meaning that Frisk is the body, soul, and therefore the conscience while Chara is like the preconscience and the player is the unconscious part of the mind. We are the ones influencing Frisk’s actions, but Chara is the one learning and remembering from them while Frisk goes through the pain and suffering. As the unconscience, we hit the fight button and Frisk- as all humans do unconsciously- reacted to the influence in a way that appeared they were scared of the monsters and, like we might assume, didn’t trust them. Chara learned from this, but because the conscience and preconscience cannot really perceive the unconscience and because Chara is soulless (which is why they require teaching in the first place), they blame Frisk if Frisk starts to feel guilty when it was really our fault we did it. We the perceive Chara as evil, but only because we fail to understand that they don’t know it was us and we cannot tell them it was us and not Frisk who was the instigator. Along the way, however, as Chara learns and records our instigation to her memory, they begin to take control and thus lock us into the genocide ending. Because we were an unconscious influence, Chara turns it into a life lesson and survival guide. We can either only go along with it from then on or unconsciously get Frisk to reset.

Yes I love this! I agree with it mostly, but there are a few things I believe differently Frisk is just an excuse of a character, theyre basically just a body to disguise the player throughout the game. I mean, their skin tone is yellow, they dont have a gender, and do you wonder why their eyes are always closed-? I believe its because Frisk may be dead, or at least, unconscious throughout the game. Chara KNOWS we are the player, as theyre the only one who sees us controlling Frisk throughout the game. You may say Flowey sees Chara/us the entire time, but its only towards the end of the genocide route he REALLY starts believing youre Chara (besides looks), even in the mirror you can see Charas reflection because in genocide route, THEY start to take control using the power youve gained. It explains why in the genocide route theres a few situations when Frisk moves themselves without you controlling them (like the monster kid situation for example). But as for pacifist, you convice Asriel to believe that you ARE the facade. Well, Chara was probably the one who came up with the name since we didnt say it, not sure why. But no, Chara doesnt blame Frisk in my opinion, because they never called us "Frisk" at the end of the genocide run. They used YOU and YOUR throughout the conversation. It was OUR determination, not Charas, and not Frisk's. And even if so, Chara doesnt blame it on us until/unless you refuse to lay in the grave you literally dug yourself in. But besides that (you dont have to believe it btw, just my view!) I totally agree though. Undertale has so many good life lessons man

I think the reason he doesnt fight you if you do that is because he knows he wouldnt stand a chance against Frisk/Player thanks to his low attack, hp, and defense. And that he only fights in genocide timelines because Frisk/Player had enough LV for his Karmic Retribution ability to help deal alot of damage to them, but those are just my thoughts on it. Also yes, i know im 6 years late.

I nearly cried. I would have cried, but my whole family is in the same room as me and I don't know how to explain that sadness at this. I almost broke down at Frisk crying. I JUST CAN'T TAKE THE TEARS! I WANT TO HELP SO BAD! This was an amazing video. I haven't even done the genocide route, but that doesn't stop me from feeling terrible. I guess because I considered it after finishing the game. Anyway, this has top notch voice acting, perfect music placement, and high quality editing. Thank you so much for doing this. On an unrelated note, this should be implemented in the game.

How it’d really go: Frisk: mercy Chara: cool Frisk: fight Chara: cool Chara does care about what you choose and believes in consequences but they ultimately follow your actions. You can back out of the genocide route whenever and face 0 consequences from Chara unless you reach the end. Frisk isn’t some lil bean they’re neutral and so is Chara

Ya know the weird thing? Chara isn't even talking about Sans when she says "That comedian" on the way to Snowdin. She's talking about Snowdrake. If you go the entire way without killing Snowdrake, even if you fill the kill quota, you're kicked off the Genocide route. Chara even mentions how he "got away".
