I don't even like writing descriptions for this awful show and its terrible episodes. This ending was worse than expected and has made the season significantly worse too. Bit of a nightmare to get out on time but myself and Fringy pulled it off together!
Enjoy!!!

The Yaas witch was fking with him before the first words were exchanged between the two groups, and in the confrontation the way it played out was the horn witch was first to go into combat stance, uprovoked, jedi tensed, Yaas witch turned into smoke, Sol reacted, THEN the rest of witches draw bowguns and started shooting at Tomlin, who only NOW draws lightsaber and starts deflecting, in comes wookie and tries to murder him. It's like Bazil is somehow partially external to the narrative. His actions and agendas cannot be accounted for, predicted, or questioned. He's just there and sometimes acts to change the plot, and everyone understands that he's a neutral metaphysical force, who follows his own rules. The Beaver is like the Force, actually. It partially controls everyone's actions, but also sometimes obeys their commands. The will of the Beaver is apparently not to be questioned, and he is a pathway to many actions that some might consider convenient.

- Venestra didn't have to throw Sol under the bus. She could literally just say: "a dark side force user killed a bunch of jedi. I'll go take him out myself, don't worry." The only reason Sol is thrown under the bus is meta knowledge. They know they need the Jedi to not believe any sith are out there to fit the prequels. - Osha has no business being even close to beating Mae in that fight. Even if you want to say they received the same exact training since Qimir used to be a Jedi, Mae has been training every single day for YEARS, Osha hasn't. "Oh, but they're the same person!" Then why doesn't Osha have her memories wiped too? They aren't. - Osha's canonical love interest ends up being her fucking kidnapper lol. - Why didn't Sol LITERALLY JUST SAY "no, I killed your mother because it looked like YOU were going to die. Would you rather have just died???" - Anakin isn't important or special anymore and I hate it.

This show is legitimately morally abhorrent, which is not something I have ever thought or wanted to apply to Star Wars, not even TLJ for all it's arrogant smugness and insulting the series was this confused or malicious in it's messaging. The terrifying thing is the fact that people want to argue this is aimed at kids, and I shudder to think what a formative mind would draw from this. Lucas for all his storytelling faults at least made it very clear, in fact the basis for Star Wars, of the struggle between good and evil and right choices which a child could easily pick up on. There is something almost sickening about this narrative that I can't quite put my finger on because I'm unsure how much is intentional or not.

I'd put it this way: The proof is in the pudding. A morally sound mind would not have presented the story to us in this way. They legitimately expected us to still side with the twins after they're both unrepentant murderers. They thought Smilo's throwaway lines about "Oh, well, uh, Yord arrested you and Jacki wouldn't have committed to a relationship with you so it was OK for me to kill them" actually absolved him of all his crimes, and it's great that him and Osha are gonna be together now. They clearly side with the coven of dark side witches and want to gaslight us into thinking that they did no wrong. They also framed Torbin's exit, very disturbingly, as a moment of relief. Of "Absolution". I have few words to describe my loathing for these writers.

Not only was it scummy of Vernestra to throw Sol under the bus and blame him for all of the murders, it also doesn’t add up. There were witnesses to Indara’s assassination and Torbin ending his own life; the only one that he wouldn’t have an alibi for would be Kelnacca, but by doing that you have to blame him for the deaths of the other Jedi too. Absolutely terrible.

An autopsy of Kelnacca's body could reveal his time of death. This would *also* be true of *EVERY* dead jedi in the forest. All you'd need to do is correlate how long it takes to reach his hut, from the flight logs of Sol's ship, currently in possession of Bazil the Beaver. You can also collect his testimony as the only surviving member of the expedition, Bazil can attest to roughly how long it took them to get into the forest deep enough to be within the vicinity of Kelnacca's hut, even if Bazil separated from the group and couldn't account for Sol's whereabouts, we'd know *when* Kelnacca died, when Sol arrived, and how long it would have taken him to be within range of Kelnacca to kill him, and of course, the time of death for every jedi there. They'd find that the jedi party was killed *after* Kelnacca, by at least 5 minutes. That might not be iron clad, but, look at the lightsaber wounds. The ones on his apprentice are 3 stab wounds, two equidistant in her upper chest, the third through her head. Check the finger prints on the other sabers, do any of them have Sol's prints? No? Well then how does this jedi make two lightsaber *STAB* wounds at the same time, little own three? Speaking *of* lightsabers, where *IS* Master Sol's weapon? It's not common for jedi to just abandon their lightsaber, is it? It's the supposed murder weapon. Where did it go? Season 2 of the Acolyte needs to be Space Columbo, ensuring all these fucking monsters never see the light of day for their collective fucking crimes.

They were literally discussing the murders... and they know Mea was the killer at that point. The only way to get round that is to say that Sol and Mea were working together which means that miss green bean is incriminating herself by working alongside a known murderer of Jedi. No one's going to ask hey why she is suddenly working alongside a murderer and possible associate of Sol if this was all the work of one man? You would than need evidence of Sol and Mea communicating and suddenly the body is disposed of. His lightsaber is missing? You could check the flightlogs of his ship and times of hyperspace leaps. This episode proves that the writers are morally twisted. A justifiable case of self-defense because remember spiky-head lady also took on a battle stance before Sol ever pulled out his saber. Attempted murder from Mae to kill her own sister spurred by her own parents to "Get angry." The witches assault the group of Jedi and basically mass-suicide through possession. BEFORE any hostilities they were already mind-invading Torbin. Mae then goes on a murder spree, Smilo mass murders a whole platoon of Jedi Knights and a child because he wants to use his powers with wanton abandon. "You brought her here"? To a mission that they had no idea was even a high risk threat remember they were just trying to contact Kelnacca, so a Padawan in the group is not even some unjustified thing. All of these are supposedly proof of Sol being the worst person ever. OSHA is seduced by the dark side in less than a DAY because she saw Smilo naked, and murders her former Master because he is unforgivable. Never mind that she easily forgave 2 mass murderers and one of which tried to murder her as children too. Then, mind erasing Mae so she cannot possibly justifiably stand trial for her own crimes and then the framing Sol who again had done literally nothing wrong as the mastermind behind it all to hide a matter that the Jedi Order would have no reason to hide. And THIS is written as a good thing, how sweet the sisters love each other, while the music plays triumphantly. We are supposed to find this good. Actually completely sick moral bankruptcy.

You have summed up in words so much of why this show pissed me off. Yeah, she literally just accepts Mae's "Oh, sorry for trying to BURN YOU ALIVE" at face value and has no counterargument to Smilo's absolutely half-baked justifications for why he killed Yord and Jeki. She forgives them effortlessly, but then *interrupts Sol in the middle of his apology and explanation* to just choke him to death because she's made up her mind not to forgive him or hear him out. What a great protagonist!

Lesley Headland, unironically, wrote a story where an *INNOCENT* man *DIES* and is blamed for the deaths of nearly a dozen jedi, where not *only* do the murderers get away, but an innocent girl *BECOMES* a murderer by the end, and wants everyone to believe this is a story about empowerment and liberation -- all to cover up her *OWN* shitty job as a mentor, since the *REAL* murderer was born from her *OWN* mistreatment of her former pupil. What. The fuck. Is this show. Headland said she was drawing from her experience with own sister, and yet all I can see in this script is her experience working with Harvey, mother of god. Frankly, it’s a contrivance that she isn’t basically an infant mentally. Osha was a CONSTANT aspect of her childhood. If everything after age 8 is gone, nearly everything before that should be gone, too. And- -wait, why is she remembering fire? She set that _because of Osha._

@@electricbayonet2 Yeah, it's kinda weird to think what Mae will actually remember. Like, did he just blot out all of Osha's appearances in Mae's memories? Like, the scene plays out normally but she's not there and saying nothing, and Mae's memories are a weird incomplete mess? Allowing her to piece together that something is not right at all. Or did he alter her entire life's memories in an intricate way that created artificial events to replace roughly 70% of her childhood and even adulthood? Does she remember trying to murder the Jedi? Neither Osha or the guy were present in those moments, after all. Etc. You can't just bring a concept like that forth so quickly without explaining in at least SOME detail how it works.

So, Kyber crystal bleeding was first introduced in the Vader comics, released by Disney. The process was shown as a pretty difficult one, especially for ex-Jedi like Vader. This is because the Kyber crystal releases a Force backlash as a response, filling you with the Light Side energy and giving you visions of you being free from the Dark Side. Darth Vader *almost* turns back due to this - only seeing himself asking Obi-wan for forgiveness makes him snap and finish the bleeding. I guess females find bleeding more natural ans therefore easier.

The ability to wipe the minds of an individual was introduced first in KOTOR when the jedi rescued darth revan after he was betrayed by darth malick during the jedis attack. After the jedi rescued/captured revan it took the might of THREE SEASONED JEDI MASTERS to temporarily block revans memories of him being darth revan so they could use him to hunt down and defeat malick. However, DISNEY being the group of glue eating, highlighter huffing, paint drinking idiots that they are made it an ability that could be used by anyone who was experienced enough in the force.

And the unique circumstances of the link and Revan's weakened state. It was a massive, insanely difficult thing to accomplish. Absolutely not something some rando lone Sith should be doing at the drop of a hat, especially since he doesn't even seem sure he can actually do it. It's not some skill he's been training at or anything, seemingly just some thought that pops into his head from who knows where. Given Headlamp's stated affinity for KoTOR I am pretty sure it was an intentional reference, but like everything else it is fumbled in an absolutely spectacular manner. And is proof (as if we needed any) that she needs to be kept far, far away from any adaptation of KoTOR.

If Ellie was asked if she want to go on despite her dying, she would have surely said yes (even if she wasn't exactly in the right mind to make that decision, survivor's guilt and so on). What Joel did was clearly something that was more morally ambigious. Which is funny considering that in The Acolyte the writers clearly think Sol is the bad guy, even if he isn't. That being said: Abby wouldn't have listened anyway, because she was full of hate. Just like Mae, who hated the Jedi for many years. Osha on the other hand liked Sol, so she should have been the one wanting to understand why he did it. This was clearly not a "i killed your mother and i liked it, lol"-situation. And he wouldn't let her die like his daughter, no matter the circumstances ... I also don't think the Fireflies are presented in such a negative light. According to what Marlene said they only realized they had to kill Ellie in order to get the Information they needed AFTER Joel brought her to the hospital. Could be a lie, but it makes sense. And Ellie clearly meant a lot to Marlene. She didn't want to wake her up and let her make that decision because that would have been even more horrible - for both of them. Even if you somehow ignore all of that: The Senate was informed that Vernestra had been keeping a murder investigation quiet. Meaning, if the Senate now knows, it's 100% public information. Meaning it's impossible for the Jedi Council to not know about it. What will happen hours after the events of this show is that the Jedi Council is going to initiate a full investigation of everything Vernestra has been doing because you can't imagine they're happy she's hiding things from them. Ki Adi Mundi comes in as a witness and tells them that the she organized the outing to Khofar to hunt for Mae, with Sol taking Osha there. And he would have to know the context and that Mae had a secret Master who was teaching her, "A splinter order or something worse." And now they have one of the twins and no sign of the other twin, so the jedi have to investigate what happened to the missing one. This cover up is going to fall apart in 2 days at the most.

So now that we're at the finale, is it fair to say definitively that the worst character assassination in this show is Vernestra? I know many of us don't care about this character but for those who do, the High Republic era fans out there, you guys should get MAD at Leslye Headland for her handling of this character. For those who don't know, here's the context: Prior to The Acolyte, the last time Vernestra felt she had some responsibility in failing to prevent a major tragedy (a crime syndicate crashed a whole space station on the planet she was posted on at the time), she f*ed off to a remote place of the galaxy, cut her hair short (yes, Vern has hair in the HR books and no, she didn't SHAVE though I bet Headland thought the books meant Vern shaved her hair lmao) and focused on meditating for a while. Well, in this show, when she arrived on Brendok, she felt the presence of her apprentice Qimir there (aka the main villain of the show) yet didn't feel compelled to investigate the murders of Jedi any further after her group found Sol's body and Mae. No attempt to publicly uncover the extent of her responsibility in failing to train Qimir and instead crafted a coverup story just to hide her culpability in these deaths. In fact, I can make the case that this has become so in-character for Vernestra that Qimir - the apprentice who knew her very well - bet on the chance that leaving behind Mae for Vern's group to find would work. That's enough for Vern to craft her coverup story, that's enough to stop the search and that's enough for him to escape. I'm not invested in this era so I only give a damn as far as it impacts the prequel era. But High Republic fans, you understand what this means right? Your girl used to take responsibility, but now, in an attempt to dodge public accountability for her failure to train the first known Jedi to fall to the dark side for thousands of years, she is as a result responsible for the Jedi Order not finding out about the plot of the Sith before Phantom Menace. If this is not the worst character assassination in this show, who is? For those who similarly aren't invested in the HR era as me, there's some value in recognizing the fact that incompetent Star Wars show creators starting to pulverize their own Disney-branded materials is the result of them running out of legacy characters to hand down that treatment.

If Smilo can just wipe memories, why didn't he do it before? Also if Mae escapes accountability because her memory is deleted, then can't smilo delete his own memories of killing jedis for a free get-out-of-jail card? This memory deletion power is just LAZY WRITING.

Hell he could have done it to Osha at any time after kidnapping her to make it easy to corrupt her by pretending to her friend. Guess that ability wasn't available yet. He didn't need her with memories. Imagine she forgets who Sol and Mea is and Qimir takes her along and when Sol or Mea attacks Qimir, she constantly jumps in to defend him because he's her friend. This would lead to confusing Sol and giving an opening for Qimir to strike him down. She can still turn to dark side easily through slow manipulation with Qimir telling the truth that she just killed her teacher.

Two more things about "Officer Sol discharges his firearm into the innocent minorities" scene: One, Witchmom wasn't just using a "mysterious unknown power," she was using powers that were established to subdue and harm Jedi, as she did with the Tommen mind-rape before. Blaming Sol for seeing this use of powerful dark magic again and quickly using deadly force to stop it is like blaming the police for shooting someone during an armed stand-off when someone pulled out an object that looked exactly like a gun but was actually their daughter's custom asthma inhaler which just happened to be shaped and painted like a Glock-19. Two, the one who initiated the violence was Hornymom when she suddenly raised her spear and aimed it at the Jedis' throats. Even if we're supposed to believe that Sol was completely out of line by misinterpreting the Nazgul child disintegration (and I sure as hell don't), what are we supposed to with THAT? Pretend that Hornymom was just offering the Jedi a shave? This is probably the most critical scene in the entire series, and what they wanted to do shouldn't have been all that difficult, but they still completely blew it. The only thing we have to look forward to with Star Wars is the day when Disney sells it to someone else who decanonizes the entire past decade.

This finale is unbelievably insulting to the audience in a show that was already an unbelievable insult. It's the same shit as Captain Falcon and the Winter Soldier. They don't want you to actually pay attention to what happened on screen, they want you to listen to the music to tell you how to feel. We're supposed to feel happy for Osha when she strangles Sol because he killed her mother and the show insists he's somehow responsible for the death of the whole coven. What did we actually see? Jedi monitoring the planet for a phenomena in the force, they come across a cult of force users, they investigate and in doing so one of them gets mind-fleemed and they believe the girls are being mistreated. Then, when they realise that the cult has been lying to them they go back to get the kids and find that the place is burning down. They go inside to try and help the children and are met with outward hostility, including another Jedi Master being mind controlled by the cult into almost killing his friends and allies. To rescue that Jedi from mind control, it results in the unintentional deaths of the entire cult. This is the most cry bully behaviour I think I've seen in a show.

31:52 I’m reminded of God of War 4, in which (Spoilers) In which Baldur chokes his mother Freya at the very end. Kratos rightfully recognizes this as a vile action and judges Baldur as worthy of death. As Mimir states, despite the problems Freya caused, “The world’s a better place with Freya in it” because the alternative is *OBVIOUSLY EVIL.* Nah, but here we have the power of women. Women can do no wrong, right?! Screw Sol doing the right thing and still trying to atone for the fallout of *doing the right thing.* This show’s morality is just… well, it’s peak Hollywood.
