I have to say, Dave, I did not have a very high opinion about KIA; however, my trip to Colorado last winter really changed my mind. My wife and I rented an SUV and received a KIA Sorento. We found the car was incredibly nimble and quick for its large size. Great mileage, and most importantly there was a SNOW STORM for a few days. A ton of cars were stuck even many other SUVs including a lot of high-end SUVs. The Sorento had absolutely no problem in the snow storm and really surprised me. This experience really changed my mind, and when my wife and I have a family, we will definitely consider the KIA Sorento.

Em M I’m sure no Audi or Land Rover was stuck in the snow. Plus this suv is a lot bigger than most you see on the road which is compact to midsize

We bought a Sorento in 2015 after we rented one in Orlando. Still have it, better than my previous Nissans and Toyota’s . Super reliable and low maintenance.

@@jamiemcgrath1292 I have observed many SUVs, even high-end ones, off in a ditch when we get flash snowstorms in Portland. Part of the problem is, owners assume that SUVs with only all-season tires can get through anything as long as they have AWD or 4WD. They don't understand the role snow tires or traction devices such as chains or AutoSocks play. WIthout the right equipment, an SUV is just as likely as any other vehicle to spin out in the snow or ice, even with AWD.

Here we are, three-plus years later, and today I test-drove a used 2017 Sorento SXL that ironically is also pearl white with a black interior just as you tested. I was very impressed... it even has a few features that my 2014 Avalon Hybrid Limited doesn't (360 camera, lane departure warning, CarPlay/Android Auto, heated steering wheel). It's in a sweet spot size-wise between the likes of the RAV4 and Rogue on the lower end and the Highlander, Pathfinder, Explorer, Grand Cherokee, Durango, and Enclave at the upper end; yet, despite being smaller than those larger vehicles, the V-6 with AWD gives it towing capability as good as all except the Grand Cherokee and Durango. I'm looking for an SUV because my needs changed since buying that Avalon Hybrid, so perhaps the Sorento SXL is the best option.

A watch for each wrist. Dave's not messing around in this video. Seems the sorento hasn't changed since 2016.

Good stuff Dave. Just a small beef though, The Sorento and CX-9 have approximately the same cargo specs. You say the Sorento is "impressive" and "immense" while the CX-9 is "well below average" and "not too good". That table will slide into the CX-9 just as easily.

I have the 2016 v6 awd . i get up to 36 mpg on 90% highway driving. With trafic my mpg drops to 29 to 31 mpg combined. 51000 miles and its been that way since day one. 84 miles a day commute. So if yiu have a long drive with almost no trafic this car far surpasses the epa mpg.

I've always liked the Sorento, I had the last body on frame 2008 version. I like this one as well, but I think 2014 version looks better in terms of body style.

about to buy it but at the last moment went with sportage...saved 15k but sacrificed only a little bit in cargo space as sorento has very very limited cargo space when compared with 3 rows SUVs!
@JBM4253 жыл бұрын
I see the Sorento as more of a tweener "two-row plus" rather than a true three-row SUV. Someone who really needs three rows on a regular basis should go with the larger Kia Telluride. In my case, I need the towing capability of the Sorento (up to 5,000 pounds with the AWD V-6) that the Sportage just doesn't provide. Since it's mostly going to be just me as the driver and perhaps my wife as a passenger, I will usually be driving with the third row folded up, and when I go camping, even the second row will be folded down.

Ahhh you don't know about the fourth way to open the trunk. Walk away a bit then come back and the trunk auto detects you and opens up.

What's with the sunroof shattering issues? Have they improved them in I'm looking to buy 2018 version?? May need to consider the LX. Can you address this ???
@queenhoe90063 жыл бұрын
This was an issue for several brands in the early 2010s. Kia fixed the issue. I believe the issue is that brands didn’t understand they had to use tempered glass over regular side glass

Just a small clarification, with Apple CarPlay it's Apple maps not Google maps. To get Google maps you need Android Auto.

It's a very nice mid-size SUV, but something about the styling makes it look kind of like a minivan to me in profile and at the rear. Not a fan of that.

Thank you for the brief yet informative video review. I've always been a Ford girl but I love technology and a great value. After my Eddie Bauer Explorer dies, I might just go test drive a fully loaded Sorrento. You're so easy on the eyes btw...😉

After driving the Kia serento I notice excessive body roll. My daughter getting car sick made our decision to get the santa fe
@levaranoia7 жыл бұрын
M wife thought that the sorento drove much better then the santa fe. The interior is also way better then the santa fe as well. And that's coming from a person who had wanted a santa fe all the way back since 2009.

Precisely opposite. Every other review rates Sorento higher over Santa Fe. I am surprised you felt the contrary

@JBM4253 жыл бұрын
That $46K is for the top-of-the-line model, the SXL Actual sale price is usually less. The SX Limited is fully loaded with no options. The 2017 Sorento in mid-level EX trim with AWD and the V-6 came in at $33,300 MSRP, which Consumer Reports recommended as the bang-for-the-buck choice for the Sorento. Although that $46K MSRP for the SX Limited may take your breath away, let me tell you that it is very competitive compared to other manufacturers' top-of-the-line V-6 SUVs, and has more features standard than most, even in their top trims. The GMC Acadia Denali, for one, still has some things as options that the Sorento has standard... yet, the Sorento is rated to tow 5,000 pounds, while the Denali is only rated for 4,000 pounds.
