One of your best videos! Time is the only resource we cannot make more of… I turned 53 and retired a week later. 7 months later I arrived in the Philippines 🇵🇭. I learned to surf since I arrived. My Philippina and i are heading to Indonesia and Bali for some surfing bendy soon. Surfing has been a game changer for this guy… Keep producing great controls Mark!!

Thank you Mark. Yeh. I agree, I was in a very lucrative healthcare position before covaids, and then mandated out of my job. I am now happy picking Strawberries and having no stress. Investing in the Philippines with my wife, would love to get out of the West. Going back again this Christmas foe 6 weeks to Mindanao, hopefully can get to your place for a coffee and a chat. But being Christmas, with the family, it is a very busy time. Stay safe Mark. Thank you for the philosophical content.

Life is like a river-always flowing, never stopping. But if we spend all our time trying to measure the speed of the water, we miss the beauty of the journey. Jesus truly is the answer. I lost everything due to Big Pharma poisoning (Propecia/Finasteride). Lost my career, divorce after 22 yrs being faithful, and ended up on disability. I was making 6 figures for many years. All gone. I realized none of it matters once I returned to God. We can live forever in paradise if we get saved through Jesus. This world is just a testing ground to prepare us. Read the Bible and have your eyes opened.

I'm always surprised how Americans break friendships and family ties over politics. Here in Belgium we have a multi-party system. One of my closest friends votes extreme left while I lean more towards moderate right. We get along just fine! Most of the time we avoid talking about politics and when we do, he voices his opinions and I voice mine without raising our voices. We are still the best of friends and why shouldn't we be?

A very under-rated benefit of the retire-abroad phenomenon is how refreshing it is to leave so much of the politics of your home country behind. Something I miss most about the 10 years I spent in East Asia - despite being a news and politics junkie before (and since), all of that just melted away over there, somehow. I couldn't even have told you for sure who the Prime Minister of my home country was during that time. And you just never need to care so much about the politics of where you are over there: "I'm just a guest. It's not really my business, and I can't do a thing about it, anyway. Let the locals worry and fight over it." I'm really looking forward to returning to that 'blissful ignorance' one day.

There are many reasons why people in the Philippines die earlier than expected, but it's well known that life expectancy tends to be shorter when living in the Philippines. It comes down to a choice: live happily while you're alive or live longer but unhappily in your home country. This doesn't apply to everyone, of course, but I asked the Norwegian embassy about the average age of Norwegians in the Philippines, and in 2011 it was 59 years. Alcohol, traffic accidents, and lack of funds when ending up in the hospital are likely some of the reasons. Excessive alcohol consumption and unhealthy lifestyles are common for many who live in the Philippines. I recently spent a month in Cebu-Dumaguete-Dipolog, but it will be my last time-it's just not for me anymore. However, many people enjoy it, so it's probably good for many.

I learned that life is a second away from ending 6 years ago when my leg was crushed in a machine at work. I still haven't been back to Thailand or the Philippines since 2011. That is when I brought my Pinay wife and daughter to the USA. They have returned 3 times but I have stayed at home at first because we needed my income. But I am also happy here or content is probably a better choice. But I still worry about my wife and daughter so I continue to invest as much as I can. And yes, I can't take the money with me, but I can make sure my wife and daughter are taken care of when I am gone. That is probably the number 1 thing that I can't understand. Is the Philippine attitude that tomorrow will take care of itself.

So glad I've retired early in my early 50s and about to retire in the Philippines with my gf in a condo overlooking the sea. Who wants to work anyway? 🇵🇭👍

When your Telomeres run out, and get really short and turn white , Its game over no matter how healthy you were or unhealthy you were, regardless of good or bad genes when your Telomeres are Gone its the END ! So Get busy Living or get Busy Dying ....50 yrs from now NONE of this will all matter , be happy and enjoy the short life we really have on earth : )

I had the realization a month ago. I am 63 and was thinking of working until 70 to be able to fund my retirement. Then people die, some younger that you and you realize that your time is limited. So I am retired, and if I am broke before I die at least I will have had 10 good years of freedom and just me.

I want to work as long as I can. It doesn’t matter to me whether I die lying on a tropical beach or sitting at a desk. Tired of seeing old men sitting on park benches crying that their pensions aren’t enough. I eat good and have no trouble making ends meet. When your time comes, there’s nothing you can do to stop it. Steve Jobs said, you can’t pay anyone to take your place. Working is a good distraction to your mortality.

I just heard about a friend in the film business here in Georgia who passed away from cancer. Way younger than me. Time is precious, we absolutely need to make the most of it.

Good advice, as always. Been in PI since July 18 and got a general practitioner Doc last week and went in for blood tests she recommended today at Silliman and was really impressed with the efficiency. Just like the US or better. Then, I come home and cannot access my bank account and get a fraud alert on my credit card. Oh, well. Just a few little bumps in the road. Stay well.
