Good job. This is very interesting to listen and watch. I am also a Filipina married to an American we currently live here in North Carolina. We are moving in the Philippines next year for good. I love everything he said about my country. I hope you will have a good and happy life in the Philippines. Continue doing this you are helping a lot of people looking for the best place to live and retire. Stay safe.

Welcome to the Philippines, David. First thing I would like to say is, always be in touch with God, because it is what makes us Filipinos capable of overcoming obstacles in life. This is what makes us who we are from the core. Everywhere we go we can have problems but just hang on to the God who created us.

Would have been retired in the Philippines but had changed my mind because of a rare medical condition, and would cost me a lot of money with my maintenance medications over there. I have Aetna Medicare Advantage which covers most of them. But you are right, the cost of rent/groceries/gas are unheard of. Am glad that a I don't have to worry about housing since it was paid off decades ago. Good luck and enjoy : it's more fun in the Philippines 🇵🇭! From Georgia, USA 🇺🇸.

Hey Mark, I am a Filipino but still working here in the US. I'm looking at completing the requirement so that I will be qualified for monthly pension. Question is, if I eventually settle back in the Philippines after I start getting my pension, will they discontinue giving my pension? I'm asking you the question because I thought I've watched one of your videos where you said that you are still receiving your pension.

It's sad he's bought into a lot of political nonsense (immigrants voting, etc..). But seems like a nice guy and hope for the best in all he does there in the pi. I was in the USAF for 22.5 years myself and stationed in Berlin, GE for 6.5 years of that, married a german girl, had both kids there, but I wasn't a cop thank God. Was an air traffic controller and still doing that now, but will retire like he did to the pi once I'm done working as a contractor. And I fully agree, it's no one's business about your relationship. Hope they have many years of joy together. Great interview Mark, all the best to you and Jen!

As an American living in Asia for 16 years, this guy is in the Philippines for all the wrong reasons. Clearly, if Trump was still president, he wouldn't even be there. I will be retiring in Bohol if this is the kind of people coming to Dumaguete. The last thing I want is to belly up to the bar as an American retiree in a beautiful place in the Philippines and be engaged in a discussion by a Trump supporter. No thanks. Living abroad is all about escaping American politics, not discussing it.

David is right about the homeless issue. If people are working hard & barely getting by recall your recent interview with Paul Old Dog who told you about the look on the Walmart employee's faces; a look of concern on those he passed by. Food is expensive, as I said before rent has skyrocketed which is why people are living in the streets and those who can leave Calif (and have a work from home job) are leaving because you can't save any money here. Living in CA is paycheck-to-paycheck. And you know, like a lot of others receiving social security, that there's no way you could survive on that benefit alone in the America. To the concerned expat out there; if you have nothing saved for retirement and you're in your 60's you better find an affordable place live like the Philippines. Otherwise your retirement will be work, work, work.

It's confusing that he rails against the US for having to wear a mask, but then when he says he STILL has to wear a mask in the Philippines, he shrugs it off. That's the power of the right-wing media in the US. They told him how to think about masks in the US. They don't have influence over how he thinks in the Philippines.

The experience of someone who's in short time in the military (like me) versus a career man (like my nephew) is very different. You're more valued after you've had 15+ years of experience and they do try to give you choices. My nephew is in the navy and was told he could choose any base he wanted for his last two years before retirement, so he chose Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

I agree with this man about all he said, except some of his political views. The US is going through a very trying time as the new president is a polar opposite from the previous one,and they all make mistakes, and think that our President has his moments! I agree about stopping the extension of the pipeline, and trying to force feed electric cars down our throats, without having the infrastructure that will be needed to take care of the future, and don’t even have enough computer chips to build even gas powered cars and trucks. I am planning on going to Calisiao, Pangasinan, within a year, on Luzon, within the next year! Thank you for all the greatVlogs full of information, that helps me understand the environment, culture, and what it is truly like to live in the Philippines! God Bless You all!🙏🏻👌😊

This is an interesting interview Mark. So let me get this straight. Freedom loving Floridian Trumper leaves the U.S. for a country that is semi-authoritarian. I am on the fence about this interview. On the one hand, I wish people like this wouldn't leave the U.S so they don't spread their fascist right wing propaganda; on the other hand, I'm glad he's gone. People in the US invest their money in stock and pension funds. These funds, managed by Wall Street guys, in turn invest the funds in China for good return (low cost of manufacturing and therefore better returns). As a result, manufacturing moved from the US to China. Several Chinese companies even lost their shares on the NY stock exchange to raise money from the US to be invested in China. With Western capital, China has attained such level of development that it is now able to challenge the US. What irony. Investment bankers should think about the ethics of investing hard earned money of Americans. Why would they want to invest that money in a country which does not share America’s and the Americans democratic ideals? Instead of bring that money to China, they should invest that money in countries that share America’s ideals like the Philippines which is democratic (never mind the current occupant of Malacanang Palace; he is gone in 3 months time) and shares Americans’ religious affiliations. People of the Philippines will always love America and the American people.
