Solid advice. Its seems way too many KZbinrs give bad advice selling a dream. After visiting SE Asia several times its about 1/3 the price of a Western Country. If it takes you $6,000 USD to survive here then expect to pay $2,000 in the Philippines. Then expect a $10,000 to $15,000 setup costs to get into a place, moving, scooter, cooking items, furniture, etc. Sure if you don't mind living in a bamboo hut and no indoor plumbing you can live for $600 and listen to roosters at 2am and fight bugs at all hours of the night. Otherwise expect to pay $1,500, $2,000 to $2,500 month depending on location and lifestyle. Then if you have a family or girlfriend that price jumps up by another $500 to $1,000 month. Its easy to see how someone that believes they can live off $600 or $800 month goes broke especially if they get a woman pregnant.
@metalmike570Ай бұрын
Well the KZbinr Warren Redlich says his condo is $700 month there. I have a feeling that is 100% spot on. You're showing US prices so I don't buy all you information. If a dude goes there and gets a lady pregnant I agree with you 100%, game over.
@franciscoaguilar123Ай бұрын
@@metalmike570 When you have a $700 condo and then start adding in food, electricity / air conditioning, scooter, internet, eating out, entertainment, cleaning, insurance, phone, etc. you're going to be getting close to $1,500 real quick. A lot of expats eat out almost daily and their food / coffee / bar bill can easily be $400 to $600+ month then electricity is expensive and can be $80 to $150. Just add in all the expenses and you'll understand that $1,500 is not that much to live on the Philippines and exactly why all of these people go broke. Its very easy to spend $2,000 or $2,500+ if you want to have a fun lifestyle plus travel some.

I've been living overseas for 4yrs now and have seen first-hand guys going broke. Guys on KZbin selling this idea that you can live in another country for a $1000 per month is a lie. There are two ways you're going to go broke. The first is a woman. Funding a woman's lifestyle has and never will work. And the second is not knowing how to budget. You have to live below your means. I sit down with my wife every day at 7pm and do a daily budget. We know what our daily limit is. It's easier to make up ground when you do a daily budget rather than a monthly budget.

There is a restaurant by the pool; most meals are 3-7 dollars. My rent is $207/month. I have a new wall unit A/C, that I run 24/7 and my electric bill is $30/month. Down trodden ? I was medically retired in 1975 with a mental disability. I couldn't, and didn't have any conversation with another human being for 40 years until May 10th, of 2017 when God healed me. When I could control my own thoughts, I saw for the first time what had happened to me. I was hurt angry and disappointed. I was screaming, crying angry everyday for over 6 years , imagining what my life might have been , if I had had an opportunity to have a life. For almost a year now, I suppose I'm almost "normal" , but beat down by life at every turn almost every day I've lived, so I'm not very optimistic about the "wonders of life" I'm going to experience at 72 years of age. Even if I was , I can't join any conversation about BS , so I still don't talk to anybody. It's great to meet people with similar life experiences. Western women of any SMV will not take up with a basement dwelling loser very long even if he is physically attractive because men also need to be able to provide wealth and status to women. Women in the west typically only pursue the top 10-15% of men on the dating sites even when the woman herself is a 5 or less. Most men are therefore invisible and as Asian Women are exposed to more of these losers it is only a matter of time before they raise their standards also. @@Ego-Kills All I know is what my retired friends tell me. "100% disability" status doesn't necessarily have anything to do with current bodily ability. There are even private companies that you can pay to get your disability status increased. It's often very shady. But I'm not casting judgment on those who actually got hurt and need the help. I hope they get all the assistance they could ever ask for! Like anything involving government, there's too much room for the liars and politicians to bleed much-needed programs dry. And that hurts the people who actually need and deserve the assistance.

50K is absolutely nothing. I could see maybe 500K work but even that is rolling the dice. A million in cash/investments is probably a good amount.

You don't understand your US dollars are worth about 3X as much in the Philippines. What you just said makes no sense.

To me, the amount of cash you have doesn't matter as much as monthly cash flow.

@@metalmike570 Go there with 50K and let me know how it works out for you.

A million is FIRE amount (it assumes a 4% annual return) is considered enough to retire in the West. 500K would definitely work in PH.

If you want to maintain your higher standard life style, you need at least $2M. Even 100k meant nothing. Younger generation think they can roam around on a low budget. Too much deception on social media. It ain't what you've expected.
@marktapley7571Ай бұрын
Do you mean 2 million dollars? Only about 2% of Americans have savings (investments) of that amount. 80% of retirees (wealthiest subset) in U.S. have 200,000 or less. Ap. 50% have only SSI.

@marktaplebut COLA means that ssi is a reliable source for income no metter how long you live, provide you budget. Savings on the other hand are destroyed by inflation over a 20 year span, and many now routinely live 20 years beyond retirement y7571

You just cant do it on less than $2000 for a single guy. For a family youll need another $1000 more. If you dont have that you can survive but it wont be comfortable i guarantee that.
