Neurodivergent kid: Has behavior issues because is struggling
Them: That's normal behavior for their age
ND kid: Goes undiagnosed indefinitely
ND adult: Expresses an ND struggle about basically anything
Them: Everyone does that
ND adult: Goes undiagnosed indefinitely
To everyone coming into my comments section when I share a common autistic struggle telling me "everyone does that"... here's what you need to understand....
The non autistic experience of that one thing I was talking about in that video you happened to see is NOT THE SAME as the autistic experience... because the autistic experience is compounded by hundreds, if not thousands of other common autistic challenges.
Your non autistic brain may experience that one thing... but then you get a break.
Not autistic people, though.
Our brain wiring creates an incessant and unrelenting onslaught of autistic challenges. And guess what? They come as a package of commonalities for people with autistic brain wiring.
So, when I share about a common autistic experience... it's not just me sharing about that one specific common experience... it's me creating a pathway for undiagnosed autistic people to learn about the common autistic experience as a whole.
And if you're not autistic... these videos are not for, or about you. So please stop chiming in with your unhelpful commentary and let undiagnosed autistic people find the answers they are so desperately looking for.

I feel like there would be a lot of people who would dismiss all this anyway because they're kinda jerks, but as an AuDHD'er, I look at it like this: everybody deals with itchy eyes, runny noses, and sneezing. But if you get all three at once, all day, every day in perpetuity or even just under very specific circumstances, you might consider whether or not you have an(y) allergy/ies. So it goes for neurodivergency. There is no autistic or ADHD trait that doesn't just sort of exist in someone, or many someones, anywhere at any given time. What separates the neurotypical from the neurodivergence is the frequency, intensity, and quantity of those traits.
