I am level 1 finally diagnosed two years ago at age 54. I am so much like you! I joke with myself that I have “uniforms.” 😂 Because I also have clothes that I like that are comfortable and soft and don’t have tags and so I just get them in several different colors… whether it be for winter or Summer. I don’t bother with make up because I can’t be bothered. When I did wear some in high school it was basically just to bring out my eyes. I also grind my teeth at night and have to wear a night guard. I have a theory that it’s heavy metals in the body that make us grind our teeth. Those very same heavy metals may have caused the autism as well. So I make heavy metal detox smoothies for myself every day. Look up the medical medium heavy metal detox smoothie recipe if you’re interested. Oh, and I don’t really have any style to my hair. I just wear it long and pull it back in a headband. Also, I only wear comfortable shoes. Although I’m middle-aged now so I get to regardless. 😂

I’ve had obstructive sleep apnea for the last 40+ years. It is not weight related. I’ve recently self diagnosed as being autistic with evidence observed by others going all the way back to preteen childhood. This is a new wrinkle! Please, please, please do the apnea / autism video! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I"m sure I'd be level 1 if I had a diagnosis. I relate to what you mentioned about your clothes, hair and eyebrows . Thank you for sharing your story <3

Yes I think it’s more about the level of abstraction u live on. I can’t do how’s ur day, but I live on “time is not linear, it’s all happening in the now”

Not all the time, but sometimes I walk exactly like this. I definitely did it a lot more as a child. I think it's just a fun, stimmy thing!

Now I'm having memories of doing this as a little kid and getting so caught up in the sensory enjoyment and flow of it that I would accidentally bump into people. Thankfully, they were usually really nice about it and commented on how much fun I seemed to be having.

😂 I was diagnosed with OCD ages ago (which I think was a misdiagnosis). One of the things was “not stepping on cracks.” My doc keep insisting it was indicative of OCD because it was tied to the thought “step of a crack, break your mother’s back.” But I kept telling him, “No, that is *your* thought. My mother is a B and I am no contact with her. Trust me: if I could step on a crack and break her back, I would!” He kept insisting I was not in touch with my true thoughts because I insisted there was no thought behind it just a horrible feeling of ick.

Autistic, i have a form of Apnea called Hypopnea. This is when you take in shallow breaths for 10 seconds or longer while asleep and your airflow is at least 30% lower than normal. But your breathing doesn't totally stop since your airway is only partly blocked. Basically your brain does not signal your body to breath in a normal manner. I have had a C-PAP machine for at least 15 years, and would not sleep without it.

I just got diagnosed with autism recently at 26 (they didn't assign me a number, but I would probably be 1 as well, I live alone and have a full time job). I like your videos. I don't know much about autism, but I am learning!

I read in a book that this is more a historical effect of bias than a gender difference since "male autism" is also observed in women and "female autism" is observed in men. Definitely interested in the topic!

That is a skill that anyone has to practice. I would caution you, to not wrap just any thought and occurance you experience as something related to a mental health disorder. Any neurotypical person might struggle with memory retention, shot or long term, for a variety of reasons and to varying extends and any given time. It is a skill that can be practices and improved. Certainly, neurodivergent people might find this to be especially difficult, and people with physical ailments or injuries such as TBI will likely have externally caused factors that make this difficult or impossible. But the way you present this, has the potential to lead people into poor communication habits. It is not necessary to claim, "I have such diagnosis. Therefore, I can not be an active listener and must speak whenever I feel the need to." This is removing accountablilty fro. the person participating in a conversation based on a misplaced "excuse". Rather, you could in your video ask "do you struggle to remember what you wanted to share by the time it is your turn to talk? Try these memory jogging exercises to imrpove your skills of how to process and retain information, so that you can become more effective at communicating."

Hmmm... I think if two independent professionals have examined you and told you that you are not autistic, chances are, you are not. Your "friends" likely have a reason to confirm what you apparently want to hear (they want to soothe you or perhaps avoid a conflict). Instead of trying to self-diagnose, I would encourage you to return to one of those two physicians (or both) and have them explain their conclusion to you and THEN AND MOST IMPORTANTLY ask them for therapy. It seems like you have some underlying need that is unmet or maybe you are suffering from a different disorder. Maybe it is asbergers or ADHD. so don't chase a diagnosis just because it is "popular". Get yourself the help you actually need.

Maybe the feel of the water hitting your skin or the sound of the water hitting your skin and a hard surface ate too overwhelming. Scooba diving, the bubbles would have closed to the same effect. Slippery surfaces might have something to do with it as well.

It’s the feeling of calm. The dislikes increase your anxiety. A shower makes you feel rushed. A bath is calm, you’re in control. You like being on boats but not in the water cause being in the water scares you. Your mind fills with images of what’s in the ocean that can hurt you. Being on the boat you feel safe and calm. You like hearing the rain but not being in the rain. Inside you are safe and calm. Being in the rain you feel trapped, out of control, rushed to get somewhere dry thus safe. Once safe you are calm.
