I'd consider 1 1/2" PEX for your run from meter to well-house. PEX can swell 300% if it freezes (without bursting). PEX is also very easy to graft/repair as needed too.

Second source of water is a good idea. No filter needed. Consider running yellow caution tape about 10-12" above your water line to help identify it the next time you dig. Might also consider running copper wire to help locate it. Thanks for sharing

I longer the line is the less water pressure. You'll need a 2" line for more water pressure up to the well and the more freeze shut off the more pressure. So you will need a 2 inch line.

When running water lines at greater distances it’s better to think about volume before pressure, especially with a rural water line’s pressure will remain unchanged and depending on location some will have more than others. It is important that you run the proper size of water lines to maintain the volume of water that you require. Most people think that they have pressure loss when it is more of a volume problem.

Usually it's raining 3 nights a week in winter and floods. Now it's draught times again. His going to try drilling for water to flood his lands. His got a property that's quater the size of Texas. I love bull dozing land. Leave a few decent trees for shade. I forgot to do that and my uncles angry at me atm.

1.25 inch poly pipe would be a good choose for your service line. You will need to sand backfill around the pipe in rocky conditions no matter which type (poly, pex or pvc) you use. The are all vulnerable to rock damage due to the fact that they move some as the water pressure changes, That movement can can cause a hole if the pipe in in contact with a rock.

PEX is the better choice than Poly. PEX can withstand a wider range of temperatures. I had to replace my water line a couple years ago and had to run about 475ft. from the meter to my house. I had 2 connections, one at the meter and the other inside the house. The PEX may cost a little more but then poly pipe, but I think it is worth the difference. Also run a copper wire taped to the pipe so that you can locate the pipe if needed.
