She kept everything, including my car, so I bought an old 1999 Honda CR-V for $2,000 and restored it myself, buying parts on eBay, Walmart, and Amazon. The parts cost roughly $500, and I replaced belts, engine mounts, headlights, O2 sensor, alternator, light bulbs, sockets, pins, lids, and changed the oil and fluids. The car runs smoothly now, with no noises or leaks, and I’m not a mechanic, but KZbin and AI helped me diagnose and fix things on a budget. I passed the inspection and got back on the road. The debt based economy is the main reason for inflation. The artificial demand that is created by credit cards, car loans and giant morgages drive prices sky high because people and landlords/businesses can use money they DONT EVEN HAVE. Zero hassles. Only routine maintenance required. ZERO car payments for the last 10 years, allowing me to put money in my retirement / rainy day funds. most of those accounts you are talking about are people exactly like I am: Bought the car prior to 2020, economy crashes, and even though I am making more money now than ever before I cannot afford the payment And keep my family fed. So something has to slide. While I let myself go a day or three between meals trying to save some money, im not letting my 4yr old do that. So... car payment gets delayed until I can pick up enough second job shifts to make up the shortfall. Dont act like most of those loans arent getting paid because people have just decided they dont want to make the payment anymore. Most of them Cant make the payment on time anymore.

As a society, we need to stop victimizing people on the bottom of the ladder. 25% to 30% interest, on a used car, this is not taking care of our fellow man. If you're a fan of humanity and perhaps a churchgoer, hearing 25% to 30% interest for a very used (up) car is painful. It's shocking. Shame on anyone charging that much interest. It practically guarantees those folks won't be able to sustain the payments. .
@coryboedeker6300Ай бұрын
It's that high BECAUSE those borrowers can't be relied upon to make their payments. The lender is taking a huge risk to lend to them.

@NomenClature-o8sАй бұрын
Greg, what’s your plan to fix this ?
@Greg_ChaseАй бұрын
@@NomenClature-o8s I'm in business too. I get that owners want to protect themselves. 25%, 30% interest rates could be eliminated, and the risk of loss to a dealer could be eliminated, by charging half or less. 25%, 30% the dealer almost guarantees many (most?) of those high-payment cars are going to be repo'd (and in what condition, as Brandon has pointed out, with repos). As a businessperson, I can think of several ways to mitigate the risk of a 'comeback car'. AND TAKE THE MARKET at the same time. All the buyers who might subject themselves to being fleeced by 25% to 30% rates would stop buying at those places. *_EXAMPLE_* 1) "75% down, 10% interest rate" 2) "50% down, 12.5% interest" 3) "30% down, 15% interest" Brandon is a successful dealer. HE REQUIRES CASH PAYMENT. He's a great example of risk mitigation with this type of buyer. Give these 'challenged' buyers some options. it reminds of payday lenders. What Brandon does is: 1) sells to the lower-tier buyer 2) requires cash That 100% protects the dealer. And it also proves this type of buyer is able to raise at least SOME cash. So the three options above (the example) - maybe it's reasonable. .

Everybody is missing the forest for the trees. What has actually changed has nothing to do with cars. It's all about greed and taking the last few bucks from the vast majority who have no hopes to ever make this kind of money. The Earth cannot support over eight billion people who don't have jobs because we've automated everything and are driving AI to be sure we don't need workers at all. It's a viscous circle, no need for workers because we have robots and AI. But without gainful employment these cars just aren't affordable. Step back and look at the big picture, not just ragging on this guy who's actually got a valid observation and is trying to make a few extra bucks off his KZbin side hussle. This was mathematically predicted to happen way back in the 1990's. Go back and listen to a guy like Ray Kurzweil. He and others saw it coming. Y'all younger generations need to figure something out 'cause this ain't workin!

The AI development is what the capitalists are betting on. However, the AI development has failed to deliver the promise in key areas like self driving. In short, we are not victims, we do have more power and authority than you seem to believe.

There are great new car deals and values out there. I bought a new Subaru paid in cash about two months ago and the advertised price was 10% below MSRP. There are plenty of offerings from Mazda and others in that + or - 30k range. Too many people out there think they need to flex with a giant SUV or full size pickup when something more reasonable would meet their needs. And with that also goes higher insurance premiums and higher fuel cost. Also some people never do the math on how much they're spending of things like Starbucks, eating out, Door Dash and other random things.

As I have aged it's just to dang low for me to get in and out of it. So next week I will be going to look at a one owner, super awesome repair history 2012 Toyota Highlander Limited. The dealership said they will write a check for the difference. I know what my car is worth, and I know what the Highlander is worth. I know some might think that I am weird to do with. But to me I will have more cash in the bank. A SUV for the wintertime and cheaper car insurance! I also like how those older Toyotas ride vs the newer ones.
