Everyone Losing Tons of Subscribers From YouTube Glitch? - AlphaOmegaSin

AlphaOmegaSin talks about the recent KZbin subscriber purge. Every year KZbinrs lose subscribers which is supposed to be dead accounts. Lately it's been unsubbing accounts without reason, adding tons of subs that aren't actually there so they're just artificial numbers, taking them away and then some later on. None of this has been addressed by KZbin yet, but I think this and the many other issues need to be addressed.

Oh yeah, I actually noticed this too. Someone asked me about the Gold KZbin Play Button which I had previously never heard of, so knowing I was kinda close-ish to reaching the 100k mark, I've been more aware of the sub count lately. Kind of a distant _what-if_ little goal. But yeah, recently I allegedly had 83k, only to see last night it went down to 81k. It was really confusing since the analytic subscriber page didn't show any record of the sudden loss (it said I had gained 250 in the past 28 days). So thanks for clearing that up! I do think it's really stupid that KZbin / Google is unsbscribing actual people from accounts, no matter what the reasoning. I've had people approach me saying they'd been auto-unsubbed, and others who say that regardless of being subbed, they don't receive notifications when I upload something. It's a bit disheartening to say the least; Honestly I think I've reconnected with more fans on other social media platforms than KZbin itself, where I started my whole online gig to begin with. As for fake subs though, I'd rather not have that at all. But it's understanding how discouraging it would be to think you have so many, only for them to be taken away, for seemingly no real reason.

I feel like it's a mixture of both bots, dead subscribers, and the dumbass subscription page-which brings up another point. The subscription page has an algorithm where if you don't watch a certain channel long enough or some other things, it won't show that channel to you, or some of the videos. Why the fuck is there an algorithm in the first place. If I don't want to watch a channel anymore, I'll fucking unsubscribe myself. Don't just assume what people want out of the channels they want youtube.

I noticed I was averaging 800 subs per 28 days for the past year or so. Then this month it dropped to under 200. Thought it was just me. It was weird because my views, watch time and other things were all up but subscribers dropped so much. This explains it lol. I had talked to a few people about this and it is supposed to be only dead accounts that KZbin deleted but the numbers dont reflect that in the analytics when I look at closed accounts. I think that the part that is particularly exasperating is that to smaller channels, 100-300 subscribers is a LOT! Like, two or three weeks worth of gain... all flushed down the toilet for no reason. For channels that are larger (i.e. PewDiePie, LeafyisHere), losing people in the tens of thousands is annoying, but it's not as arduous of a task for them to make up that loss. Ugh, what a headache. >.

I noticed this all year long as well. I lost 1K subs to yesterday's purge. I don't like that a ton of lost subs this year was under the other category. If a normal sub unsubscribes you can see it in the normal analytics. But this year my channel has been bleeding subs under the other categories all year long. I have also noticed I have been unsubscribed to channels I watch all the time.

It is hard as FUCK to get new subs, and then youtube decides to take them away from the creators! I lost 140+ over night, I was preparing my 3000 special, and even put it on my wall, I was 30+ over 3K so well over that I didn't have to worry. I know fellow creators who grew along side me, who lost Over 2000 subs, bringing them from 4K to 2K! KZbin needs a rival so they will straighten their shit up. I don't use youtube because I love the platform, I use it because it's the only way I can get my content out there properly. If a rival came and was successful, I'd say FUCK KZbin and leave. I have enough of a following that we'd all go together and I wouldn't have to start over.

I was wondering what was going on ... You, CBG19 and Geeksiders are just a few of the channels I had to resubscribe recently (among hundreds of them). I used to think this happened because of some rehaul of the channel or some kind of update, but it seems to be something else entirely. Thank you for shedding light on the problem. I thought the problem was on my end. In any case, I doubt this "purge" is for inactive accounts or something like that, as I use KZbin practically everyday. Great video! I have been saying that KZbin takes subs away about every 3 months since 2014. When I first did a video about it (KZbin Deleting Our Subscribers.... Y!! ) , AVGN shared it out and was wondering why also, KZbin said it was a one time thing but it keeps occurring, they also say it's dead accounts, but sometimes accounts are not dead just haven't been used for a while. This month I have been uploading lots of videos to celebrate my 10 Years on KZbin. I suddenly gained 305 subs I thought my hard work was paying off, but as you said the views didn't add up to the amount of subs gained. Then 2 days later, they deleted 340 subs. I e-mailed my KZbin contact about it and was told it was a bug and sub counts are normally adjusted daily but because of this bug it happened in 1 big hit. But as I said I have seen this happening over and over again. I'm annoyed. I only want KZbin to delete subs accounts that are purely made for spam. Even if an account becomes inactive, why should I loose that sub... when the account was in use, they subbed I should be able to keep that. Also sometimes people re-activate there inactive accounts to use again. :/

Just looked at my account and I saw that I lost almost 20 subs :'( As a youtuber since the beginning of youtube, with only almost 400 subs, this discourages me a lot. I could never even dream to think of ever getting 1,000 subs. As a small youtuber, this makes me just want to quit and stop this. any good youtuber wont complain because of this cause if your channel has been inflated artificially, or those accounts havent been used in a very long time/deleted, those numbers dont reflect on what you true viewer base is. if you have been doing well and your channel has been growing cause of your hard work maybe you can dedicate more time and then more resources to what you are doing right and see the fruits of your labor take fruition. Artificially inflated channels are one of the biggest problems of youtube and just because you have a lot of subs it doesn't mean your content is good to begin with. i love your content Alpha and you will see that your fanbase and subs grow if you grow with your content.

Im glad some one made a video about it because i have recently had to refollow a number of YT channels and i would have never known i was unfollowed except for the fact that I have watched enough channels similar and saw a new video posted on other channels and clicked and found i was unfollowed. I hope this problem gets fixed soon because I am tired of having to look thru and find what channels i have to follow again.

As a live streamer within the "KZbin Gaming Fam" I know and speak to several direct employees of youtube on a regular basis, so I guess you could say I've "talked to youtube" about this issue. Look up a recent video by a gentleman named "Christopher Schmidt" aka "Chris Plays Games." In less than 2 minutes, he lays down all the facts about what actually happened and why and how. The fact that you may have been unsubbed from any of your subscribed channels has NOTHING to do with this so called "purge." Please keep ALL the facts straight, AlphaOmegaSin, your influence in this community is so strong and far-reaching, and the last thing we want is more info circulating about this whole thing that may or may not be completely true.

I think it has to be a purge of old accounts. That makes sense. Maybe 5 years of inactivity? Also alpha, you should do a n64 episode, perhaps multiplayer mk64/smash bros stream with beers and such like your FFVII stream!

definitely a lot of issues with KZbin (besides the fact that it isn't the website it used to be). The subscription purge doesn't discriminate, either. I remember a friend of mine who has a couple hundred subscribers said she has been losing them, too. It's disheartening, even if it is a system error

I have noticed that KZbin occasionally doesn't show subbed videos, I watch KZbin daily as I can't be bothered with TV and I have had to search peoples youtube videos to see new content as sometimes it doesn't show up on my subbed new content. Hope it all gets sorted

I lost a couple of subs to the purge. I don't really understand how it's possible for those channels to be inactive considering every sub I have gained I obtained in just the last month. My channel and my content is brand new this shouldn't affect me lol

I only lost like 10 subs thankfully. I guess it's good if they're deactivated accounts so you get a more accurate number, but at the same time it kinda sucks for people who lost thousands.

I noticed this a while ago so I started visiting my usual subs just in case the notifications didn't' appear on my list, lo and behold often they have more than one vid I haven't watched yet, but still it's pretty lame if people are losing subs over this

I subscribe to quite a few channels these days and watch their videos all the time. But i very rarely get a notification of new content being uploaded on the channels that I subscribe. Notifications happen very rarely, 98% of the time I just have to manually check those channels myself for new content. It is indeed kinda ridiculous to not get notifications sent, when it shouldn't be that hard to do.

So, this is neither a defence, nor is it a solution. Just a little insight as to WHY this MAY be happening. As you said in the video, KZbin wants to get cozy with Hollywood, but there is a second group they want to get cozy with: Advertisers. That advertising money is HUGE and they want to keep it rolling in. One of the biggest issues with any from of social media today, are fake accounts/fake clicks/fake likes/etc. Advertisers are rip roaring pissed that they are paying for fake clicks, which give temporary gains but they are just spending money (since it's a pay per click, or more specifically youtube, pay per view scheme) on fake accounts that aren't giving them revenue. On top of that, there are metrics to track, Advertisers won't want to spend money on videos from creators with low subscriber amounts. Now, this needs to be fixed. REAL accounts should work, and it's clear that the KZbin purging algorythm needs work. This is just another potential reason why this might be happening.

It is such a shame that a great social media site such as KZbin encounters so many different problems that does need to be fixed and addressed. Unfortunately the KZbin we all came to know and love is slowly getting killing off what makes this website great. I am also a victim of this KZbin glitch, I went from 80 subscribers down to just 20 subscribers within one day. It is irritating because there are people in this community that worked really hard to gain and entertain audiences only to lose it all. This is such complete and utter bullshit.

I don't get notifications on half of my subscribed channels all the time. Then I get notifications for channels that have nothing change, not even videos being added to a different playlist. The shit makes no sense what so ever to me.

I feel somewhat better now. I lost 33 or so subs the other day and I was like "did I upload too many videos in one day" which for me is a lot. It was 6 or 7 videos in two days. Plus I've made some changes on my channel and thought people didn't like it. I left my channel for about 5 months (previously jlo138) and decided to come back to it. Then noticed I had 800 subs more than before. I was really stoked and then I lost the 33 and thought the changes weren't going over too well with my neglected subscribers. I couldn't be mad but at least now I have an explanation that it wasn't all me anyways.
