Avoid purchasing LTT Screw drivers; they are overpriced and of poor quality. Instead, consider investing in a Klein Tools Precision Screwdriver, which comes with 27 bits for $20. I guarantee that their new screwdriver (Ripping off iFixit) alone will be $39.99, and with a complete kit (Ripping off iFixit), it may be priced at $59.99 or even higher. The charge-o-matic thing is clearly a repurposed garden watering controller, but that's actually a pretty ingenious way to use it. There are a lot of things that would benefit from being charged for like and hour or two a month to keep them alive.

It's a simple way to get things done, but personally I'd rather get a smart plug. All of mine have a timer function, which is a little less convenient, but it's around $10 per instead of $30. It could also be programmed with a schedule, for example, only starting charging later so that it finishes charging shortly before you need it, or periodic short charging cycles for something that's plugged in indefinitely.

As the local system integrator, I use one of the rechargeable blow-e-matrons all the time. Makes cleaning up used parts FAR faster than by hand and cheaper than canned air. Without the concerns with condensation or over-pressure from a compressor. Paired with microfiber cloths, spray cleaner, electrical cleaner, a toothbrush, rubbing alcohol, etc ... Covers 99% of those needs. Mine was less than $25usd on Amazon. - I also get asked by customers regularly about how often and how to clean their PCs and send them a link. A regular blow-dust can go a long way towards keeping thermals under control and increasing hardware lifespan.

Just hijacking your comment. If you're looking for something a step up from the blow-e-matron they were talking about in the video, the DataVac blower by Metrovac is amazing. I spent $100 on mine about ten years ago and it's still going strong. I find it way better than the USB rechargeable blowers, plus the blower engine comes with a 10 year warranty and it's made in the USA. Only negative is that you need to plug it in every time you want to use it

While I agree personally, from watching WAN show and listening to how they do stuff, I feel like these comments are pointless. They know which videos get the most views better than anyone. So if they start producing something you feel is not worth watching, it probably means there are a huge number of people who think it is worth watching. Thus, when you say "we" care about this content, it means almost nothing. The replies you get will be from the people who agree with you and the (potentially huge) proportion of the population who disagrees will remain silent

You could certainly do that, but I'm not sure for most folks it would actually be a better solution for the problem it is supposed to solve by its naming. As it would still need a timer to turn back on and top the self discharge back up, and if using it as LTT seem to intend to - as a common controller for a whole bunch of devices the current will drop erratically as some devices finish, or when using it for something that slow charges only the current might be rather small and hard to read anyway.

Considering all the neat tech people build in their spare time and then put in github in formats that only geeks can understand, LTT could start hosting tech (guess-it-would-be) competitions for said neat things. I mean for a lot of the people sharing their neat toys just spreading the word could be rewarding enough but nothing stops you from giving out like 1k$ price or something. DIY tech things are interesting but I usually give up after Arduino compiling doesn't work easily as documentation or tutorial claims, or I can't figure out which tiny electronics parts I actually need to make a thing.. Or if I have to order parts from 5 different places online, each promising delivery times from week to 2 months. My bookmarks are stuffed with neat projects, and my shelves are stocked with random electronics for forgotten projects.

I bought an air duster/vacuum combo... I actually really like it for working on computers. It blowsd air out of a thin tube in one mode and vacuums into a little chamber in the other mode, the vacuum has an extendable bristle brush that lets you brush dust while vacuuming it at the same time. It doesn't blow as hard as canned air, but frankly it was $20 and a 3 pack of canned air is almost that much, so it was an easy switch for me.

Good to see the Deej! An alternative I've liked to talk about is using a Midi Controller with knobs and faders like the Korg Nanokontrol 2 and free software called Midi-Mixer. No building needed, just buy hardware, install software, assign programs to faders or knobs in the software, and bam: hardware controlled individual app volume control! Its awesome!

I use a nanoKontrol 2 with voicemeeter, so I can adjust individual app volumes, my own mic volume, and multiple output volumes (headset, speakers, etc) all on the same board. Voicemeeter also allows me to use a rackmounted external compressor, so I no longer get my ears blasted by people with very varied mic levels in zoom meetings!

@@mychamycha27customization + finer control for example, I use a controller with midimixer to specifically control Spotify and my browser volumes, this lets me leave my in-app volumes at 100% (like a yt video or the spotify slider), and instead I can use the tactile control to change the windows "master" volume for the app it's convenient compared to having to change the volume by either opening the app and setting the volume or opening eartrumpet/the windows audio menu and adjusting it there

1:00 what i do is i look at the batteries, match voltage, increase capacity, put together a bulky enclosure in cad, print that, make a makeshift temporary connection to the motherboard or gadget (permanent) and tape it secure onto the device as an external battery pack. i have increased capacity by 5x on my old cameras this way. only downside is that it's semi permanent so i do have to cut the tape, pull the cells, charge them 2 at a time and reinstall the whole thing. but damn it worth the hassle to have 4-5 hours of use time instead of 20 minutes. 18650s rock! you find them in portable vacuum cleaners, drill batteries, basically anything portable that runs on electricity and people throw away after a year or so. also if you aren't afraid of sticky fruity quite possibly toxic liquids and saliva, you can find tons of batteries from disposable vape rods you see on the street thrown not into a bin but onto the sidewalk. Worth the effort, just need a bms or an external lithium cell charger with protection.

Ive had one of those Air Blowers for almost a year now and its saved me so much money and hassle compared to the cheap cans of compressed air i was buying from the dollar store for $4+/can. I found that the Air Blower is even powerful enough to inflate a twin size air mattress, and the USB-C charging makes it really easy to recharge the same as any of my other devices

Steer clear of their subpar products.

Steel Series has a software volume mixer called Sonar that is way better than the deej (and its free), can do comms, game, media, aux and mic all seperate, with the ability to boost the volume and put an EQ on all those things independently. It even works with ASIO devices Like the Focusrite line of interfaces. Basically a newer version of Virtual Audio Cables and Equalizer APO + Peace in one piece of software.

That volume mixer solution is way more work than it's worth, even if it's not that much work. I'm not going to constantly be adjusting these individual volumes that often, and the few times I do it's just way easier to open the volume mixer with a quick click of my mouse.

"way more work" Well, there's your problem. If you see building something like that as "work" then of course it's not worth it. For a lot of people it's a fun project. They have fun while building it. And building something that also has a practical use is just so much more satisfying.

The Deej is absolutely amazing and I had been looking into it for a while myself before buying a great GoXLR knockoff for $100 CDN. It's honestly really awesome though. I'm pretty sure I have that same rechargeable duster, or at least a rebrand of it. I do something similar with my rechargable batteries for lawnmowers/snowblowers/pool vac with smart outlets and some Home Assistant code if they aren't capable of doing what I want them to do myself. When I think I want to mow my lawn, I ask google to turn on the outlets for the batteries, and then they aut shutoff after an hour or two, making sure they are charged but not overcharged (hopefully). Great video, super handy!
