The media is 100% responsible for what happens to CC in the WNBA. They put her on this high pedestal and made her the new face of the franchise. It's almost as if they were expecting her to be the Lebron James of the WNBA which is insane. The truth is all the hype they put on CC only made the current WNBA players for more focused and competitive than what they already were because all the women are special in what they do on the court. I believe the media used CC as a pawn to overall increase the level of competitive play in the WNBA. Of course women are going to become jealous when a rookie is getting all the attention and the way they are going to deal with it is by outplaying her every chance they get. Now CC is going to be in a out all dogfight everytime she hits the court. This is her test right now to see if she will truly rise to the occasion and be the champion she's being paid to be or simply become just another body wearing a new WNBA jersey. Only time will reveal the answer so let's patiently wait and see what happens.🙏
@lisareynolds9799
@lisareynolds9799 21 күн бұрын
That's so not true. CC is doing exactly what most people thought. She's carving her niche...She's a great player and will get better and better. Btw, you act as if she's terrible. She's one of only 3 players ever to score 100 points, 30 assists and 30 rebounds in their first 6 games...haha...So there's that little tid bit. She's also 4th in assists, averages 16 per game, 5 rebounds. Pretty damn good. If she can cut down on the TO's a little, you'd have one hell of a player.
@J.Crooner
@J.Crooner 21 күн бұрын
@@lisareynolds9799 I never said or am I acting like she's a terrible player. She's a fantastic hooper otherwise she wouldn't be in the WNBA but you must admit she's been chosen to be the new face of the franchise. When you're the #1 draft pick you got to show people why and most people already would know without question. For the last three decades #1 draft picks can literally come straight out of high school and be legitimate stars on day one. I'm not saying it happens all the time but unfortunately those are the expectations for her because of her multi-million dollar contracts. The real question that must be answered is what advantages and new weapons does she possess right now that will allow her to dominate in the WNBA the way she did in college? She literally would have to be an assassin with shooting the basketball meaning no matter who's guarding her she's never going to ever miss a shot on offense and be a master pickpocket thief on defense on every possession just to even be in competition at this level. In all honesty the worst thing that can happen is that she ends up having to end her career with an excuse for why she doesn't want to play anymore. So blame the media because they chose her and it's up to her to rise above the expectations starting right now. We all know it's the truth.🙏
@dfattyadams123
@dfattyadams123 21 күн бұрын
@J.Crooner You are absolutely correct. And Caitlin's fans want to blame everyone BUT Caitlin for turnovers, poor ball handling and minimal three-pointers. WNBA already had elite guards. And are they supposed to just roll over and not do their jobs because of Caitlin Clark fans????
@brannoncash5806
@brannoncash5806 13 күн бұрын
You said they are putting her in a pedestal and expecting her to be the next Lebron James. Well maybe you need to go back and look at the way media for the NBA have treated players like Lebron, Kobie, Michael. They were talked up by the media. They asked other players in the league about them they were hyped up by the media and fans and tickets were sold. The difference is that the NBA players didn’t show the hostility and jealousy that women do. The flagrant abuse that CC has taken on the court is ridiculous and I don’t think race has anything to do with it. It’s all jealousy from women in a league that has never had any hype now getting hype because of an exciting new player.
@dfattyadams123
@dfattyadams123 13 күн бұрын
@brannoncash5806 So these vets are jealous? Taurasi, B Stewart. Aja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, etc (to name a few) have always been good/great at what they do. THE play is just physical and SOME players take it too far. Draymond Green comes to mind. Ever heard of Dennis Rodman, Isaiah Thomas. It's not women; it's competition in a team sport.

It’s not the current WNBA players that are causing the problems. It’s a lot of people on the outside in the media who are causing the backlash against CC. A lot of her fans are also extremely obnoxious, constantly telling people that the only reason why anyone is paying any attention to the WNBA is because of her, which is untrue and irrational because it’s easily disprovable, but they say it constantly even when the topic has nothing to do with her. Caitlin herself is handling the situation well, with composure, graciousness, gratitude, appreciation, etc. It’s the media and people who are using her to push their agenda who are creating the issue.

I played low level basketball in the '60s. I stopped watching NBA long ago. It's not basketball as I learned it. NBA is all about massive dunks, prima donnas, and prestige. It has nothing to do with below the rim basketball. And I don't like it. Caitlin has brought strategic basketball back to those of us who love the strategy game. For the first time in decades, I'm watching basketball. This women's game is awesome. It's about ball handling, feeds, step back jumpers, and beating the defense with movement and strategy. Thank you to this new crowd.

I have always disliked basketball. Even playing it in pick up games as I kid, it seemed chaotic and had all sorts of useless roughness built into the game. But I like women's sports. Prefer women's tennis to the men, prefer women's soccer to the men. There is a different energy and passion about it, whereas the men come across much more as entitled millionaires. But I started to watch women's basketball to find out what all this Caitlin Clark noise was about, and have become intrigued by learning about it through her journey. It is a...story line. Story lines make all the difference. In the process, though, I am also learning about blocks, screens, moving screens, etc. and actually gaining some basic understanding of how the game is played.

Media trying hard to get that clickbait. They make it seem as if Caitlin is turning water into wine and eventually one of these women are gonna call it out. Then they'll spin it like the player just randomly spouted that off. Media is digging for hot responses. These women have set records for attendance, merch sales, viewership, and revenue a few years running and growing. Some people want to give all the credit to Caitlin, which she is a driving force, but she isn't the only one drawing. Of course her demographic plays a huge role, it should. People are seeing a little(by athlete's standards) American white girl hitting Steph like shots and they're all in for the latest sensation. Angel has a lot of black support, as does A'ja, as it should be. Representation matters. They don't hate Caitlin, but I'm sure they have a chip on their shoulders to prove themselves while folks discrediting their skills, and work ethics. They're professional athletes afterall. Bill Russell wanted to make $1,000,001 because Wilt made $1,000,000 while Russell was the MVP. This is the 60's and two black men, athletes are competitive and egotistical by nature.

@@lilikaramirez1848 that's my point. Calling character into question and saying they're not good people, because they don't like how the hype is painting them and the game as a whole, but are now leaving the conversation on a positive note by giving Caitlin some grace is very shortsighted. Yes I listened to this interview and read A'ja's previous interview on Clark. Breathe and think bigger picture. Let's not be so quick to call people bad over a disagreement.

@@lilikaramirez1848girl you commenting on everyone post. You know nothing about basketball. Aja is way better than Caitlin and deserves more but because Caitlin is white she’s getting the attention because yall can’t beat us. Aja is saying from the media stand point, espn and y’all children of the corn it’s about race because she’s the top player with 2 championships and mvp. From a player standpoint it’s not about race because the other star players on her team are white.

Race doesn't play a factor. There's been white players who are LEGENDS, and still, those players don't have the same fame as Clark. Clark is so popular simply because of her play style. No one in wnba history has had Caitlins play style which is extremely entertaining to watch. She just so happens to be white. If she was black, she would get the same popularity if not MORE in today's age

@@chefchavarrerace 100% plays a factor. And that's okay. Samething happened with Eminem in hip-hop. Race played a factor there too. It's okay to acknowledge that.

@chefchavarre 23 күн бұрын
@@mckenleymason1212I agree race has a factor in Eminem. However, the eminem situation is completely different because no white rapper was killing the game before Eminem. In the WNBA, before Clark, there were/are LEGENDS/GOATS who are white. Ex, Diana Turasi who's arguably the goat. Sue Bird, Breanna Steward. They are white as can be my brother lol and still, they haven't done what Caitlin has done. Everything isn't about race or at least shouldn't be about race.

@@chefchavarreThe difference is those players. Never got half the attention Caitlin Clark has. You're not gonna tell me it's not about race. Being black i can tell when black people are making it about race. The majority of people bringing up race or saying sly race ist comments have black profile pics. They do the same thing with Jokic.

@@dapopebfrank2265 You can argue she was playing the victim, but you would be hard pressed to make a sound argument for her hating on Clark. All she said in regard to Clark is that part of her popularity is because she is white. Funny thing is that a whole lot of people are up in arms about that, but it almost certainly has some truth to it. Her being white makes what she is doing a bit of novelty that people are latching on to. If a black woman was doing the same thing a lot of people would just ignore it because it's not out of the ordinary.

Aja had the chance to clarify her remarks recently, specifically and that would have squashed the haters. Not a black / white thing, not who got the first shoe deal, simply a ton of talented Ladies raising the roof. One other thing, The WNBA pushing equity rather than equal opportunity would make this old, grizzled follower and fan of the WNBA happy! Capitalism is not built on equity, it's built on everyone having the same chances through hard work,
