Fiction has a way of bending clothes to in thrift shops to his size. Though occasionly it is mentioned that what he finds is overstock from uniform companies whose clients changed cut/color/logo or just plain went out of business. Use the donation of what would otherwise be trash as a tax right-off and lo and behold clothes in Reachers size. I don't think it is ever mentioned in the books but he must also have relatively small feet for his frame as he is also always able to find shoes.

No partition in her car but there are bars on the rear windows. Radio and lights but not a work laptop mounted over the passenger seat. Missing center console mounted service rifle, too. It's either a command staff cruiser or the department doesn't care about the officers' well being. I've been in _quite a few_ police cars on occasion for almost 30 years... only getting rides home, seriously... and just look around a bit. The only thing which really differs is how plushy the rear seats have become. Criminals used to get thrown into the back seats of squad cars which had been gutted then fitted with those cheap plastic "seat" shell things which may not have always had belts in them. It wouldn't matter since it's a wee bit hard to buckle up when one's hands are cuffed behind the back. Earliest ride was when I was 5 years old. Winter of 1994. Abandoned in a local park in the dead of night. That was some trauma and why I loathe people who consume alcohol.
