Yeah playing up his angry side is part of his comedy, partly because of his look and partly because he's so funny with it, but as soon as you see him with other comedians it becomes clear that he's not an angry guy at all, is very humble, generous to his friends and probably pretty optimistic about people and life. tbh I think there is a very distinctive difference between the two. Most of brown/black folks dislike for white people come from a place of hurt, speaking as one myself. Yeah, but you look at a country like Japan where racism is a lot more culturally acceptable than in Western countries and you see a lot of open profession of xenophobia. There is something to be said for growing up in a diverse society that constantly bashes racists rather than growing up somewhere where everyone or most everyone is the same race and immediately everyone else becomes obviously foreign rather than ostensibly a member of the diverse group you consider yourself part of. If you have a few generations of diversity people start defining themselves by nationality over race. It's better for the empathy and relating to people if you view them as being a member of your group and with the way a lot of people have been living these past few decades that definition of the group will preclude race more and more. I think "society" has a big impact on the way individuals act. Races aren't racist, but cultures can be.

Everyone just accepts James slagging off white people as he is being woke but respect to Romesh as he keeps trying to get his point out and he knows it doesn't make it ok to be racist towards white people just because they have a history of being racist to black people. Racism is racism and the only way to stop it is to be aware when you're being racist and question your prejudices. I can imagine a lot of black people feel they have a right to make racist comments about white people but then they're just doing the same thing that's been done to them. It perpetuates it.
