I used to be the same exact way, but try to look into it more. I'm still a noob with 200 hours in, and I know 4 types of bunkers and how to set them up fast and efficiently. it's confusing now but take an hour out of the day and you'll see how simple it really is. I used to hate seeing it and now it's becoming second nature to me.

The roof access you can see at 14:42, would it not make more sense to have a lower garage door and then a full size wall and another garage above it? Same stone cost to build, but means a roof raid costs 2 garage doors instead of one?

@@Nurofaen just tried using a triangle ladder hatch instead of a jump-up, and it's kind of nice because it keeps the entire roof at the same level, eliminating all overhang gaps. Of course, this means you need the BP+mats, but there's still your lower garage/double door immediately below in the meantime.

As a complete beginner at this, I am baffled how some of this is even doable without noclipping. Right from the getgo, I can't even place that second box on the floor near the TC. No matter how tight to the wall I get with the first box and the TC, the second box will not fit in that space in that orientation without clipping the first box. I have to rotate it to get it in there. Secondly, how in hades do you manage to jump up onto that shelf to place the other boxes? No combination of jumping, crouching, or standing on objects will get me on that shelf. So I can't even place any boxes on it without destroying the ceiling first to have head clearance. Then I have the same box placement problem as the floor, the second box won't fit in that orientation. Is there some tutorial somewhere that explains these building techniques?

TC room box placement is infuriating, but I managed to replicate this on a build server. This is a really nice build! You can put ramps in the square storage areas if that's your thing. It's also possible to airlock the second-story entrance if you want. I also like that you can cram all the benches in this base due to the square jump-up area above the refinery etc.

3:14 I’d consider using the empty triangle as furnace space by enclosing it in, using salvages shelves in the loot room, and placing the boxes along the wall. That being said, I don’t know if the triangle will be used later on in the build, if not, that’s what I’d do.

hey Reks. I'm new to rust and i see all these dope base designs with turrets and everything but once I get to the electricity part of the build they place a windmill and the turrets and show an electrical circuit a prof. electrician would be proud of. i guess what I'm saying is the base design is awesome but I can never build the thing fully with protections because I don't understand how the wiring of the base works. in future videos could you possibly not gloss over the wiring phase. It doesn't seem like it is hard or tedious to build so if you don't mind could you do a wiring video for this base or future bases.

Used this base design for a wipe and it's been solid but has a bit of a flaw. Got offline raided through to the storage room on the furnace side and into the funace arear and they stopped there (was stone and had sheet doors at the time but had upgraded the TC room to metal) and then got onlined with raiders taking out the sheet small door. I had just completed the third storey but hadn't moved any stash of kit up there and didn't have the roof level sorted, but it demonstrated a weakness in the design that due to the jump up being right next to the front door that it was hard to defend at this stage. Trapped attackers in the jump up on a couple occasions by using the dark to creep up and shut garage door, and by spawning outside few times was able to distract them and then F1/Kill and spawn back into core and repair doors on the jump up, but they eventually got themselves sorted and blew themselves through to the lower level and then gave up as they ran out of boom 😅and I decided to despawn all the random loot I had collected into the store, at which point they gave up. Collected as much stuff back up as I could and carried on with my wipe 🤭 by looting and taking over the raiders furnace bases.

12:04 This corner (as well as the symmetric one) where you have window frames meeting at a 90° this is a ECO raid weak point even after you put up embrasures. A clever raider can twig upto your window and knock out a window frame through the window. This only lets them onto shooting floor, but why give them that much?

Hey Reks love the build! I was just thinking tho, wouldn't you want ur battery somewhere close to core so it's not easily destroyed? Like if someone top downs ur base in a raid then it's only one door to the battery where they can deactivate all ur turrets and that seems like a weak point, just thinking out loud haha

For this application tho I think a single door would be perfect yea it will make wiring a bit harder but it can be completely hidden by the locker

If someone top downs him, it’s actually beneficial that the battery DOES get broken. There are no auto turrets inside the base, so if someone destroys the roof turrets and then the battery, it will only deactivate outside turrets and aid any counters who might help defend the raid.

@@Tofunator that's actually a great point I didn't consider with the turret system still active they could effectively ward off any counters and once they're that deep it wouldn't matter anyway altho if core turrets are added then a separate electrical system closer to core would def be beneficial

I make sure to leave a space for a repair bench . I Never leave repair bench out it can be pick n place as much as u like. I don't want people repairing as they raid me so I leave a space for it. Did u know u can fit a bed locker BBQ small box campfire and a large or medium battery all in 1 square?

The electricity in this game is confusing at first, but not complex. Maybe you've already figured it out by now, since your comment was posted before I was even playing RUST, but I jumped in hard. Easiest thing is to Google each circuit you decide you want to do, and you'll eventually learn how it all works just from building the things you wanted anyway.

Those single fences are not adequate, you need 2 fence layers to protect those turrets, but you know that.

The refinery gives me a silly idea for a video. A player-made pseudo outpost with peacekeeper turrets. Already a thing people do to some extent with hotels, but instead of selling rooms (or in addition) and marketing as a hotel, sell access to amenities and such like refineries.

Nice start up base, but if anyone else like to make a start up base do the 1 or 2 of these the same concept that was done for the oil refinery But instead do the 1 square out to walk to then do that oil refinery floor like this video but instead of oil. U can put a indoor LG Furance For 3 wipes now I never been raided where my base was over took by someone. My base is a framing cook base it has 4 floors 1st floor is under floor the bunker TC and most important Room of boom or Best guns. And sleep bags last time got raided they never found the TC because it was under the main room of a fake 18 Rockets room so after they wasted all boom trying to get through the many Double Doors Of HQM to find nothing. Also my base has the oil refinery and 2 large Furance inside nothing ever outside The only thing I have outside us the 8 Turrets set up with Shot gun traps guarding ea turret from ladder climbers Anyway after finalizing my base custom design I survive 100 prop severs in high location areas with no one ever getting even close to getting into my base for 3 wipes now. All my base is 3 honey comb outside sides with 1st Turrets 2nd layer vendor machine inside and third HQM

@@Pablojenkins3rd Well I was thinking about making a video, but unlike PC players you guys can make bases without being attacked. When I do my base I start off farming for 3 days 4 hour per day and putting all my farm in the ground near sleepy bags once I get my basic bunker items then I build a 1x.5 base near the area I want to build Then I start building a piece of a area at a time I usually get killed about 6 or more times before I even get the full 6 square floor bunker built. Before even starting the next part of it. Anyway it always takes me 1 week to get my base to 3 lvs then a few days to get the 4th level done by the weekend I grind cargo for Laptops and Camrea that way I can get the turrets into the honey comb. So to do a video on my base I guess I can do it when done because on console gaming as a solo to build you die alot. And since am no PVP player only a farmer cooker all my bases are designed like that.

@@Pablojenkins3rd Cool I'm ps4 lol. But my HardDrive been molded with a SSD Seagate 16TB so my ps4 runs smoothly I hardly ever get lags plus my 24MS Monitor helps too. When I'm home I'll send u a friend invite. Am also have 25 to 40 friends on Rust so I do most of the time Play in a village Team but as a solo base . Everyone has their bases in a big village. This also helps out from raids . I didn't play this wipe because everyone says it's much harder now since it's like PC u need power to make your Turrets work.

Because in rust an airlock is implied. Don't use one and you'll find out why quickly. It has come about over time as players learnt it was necessary and thus is always mentally included now. Most rust players don't need to be told you need an airlock and it's always optional.
