I'm thinking of getting a lift ticket for next week, I've mostly been snowboarding at Sugar Bowl and want to try out a bigger resort. This is a great overview, I was looking at the map as you were talking to familiarize myself with where everything is. Just one question, if you park at California Lodge, is it possible to go to and from the Nevada side?

Hi Ruben, thanks for watching and I hope the video was helpful. Yeah you can ski between California and Nevada, just be sure to check the weather as on the windy days some lifts may close making it harder to get back across to Cali side. Most days moving between the two is fine. Have a good trip

A good tip, especially on a fresh powder day, is to drive over to Stagecoach on the Nevada side as it's always the last run people think of. Has some awesome tree runs and a few different runs you can carve new lines in all morning until you see another person. Just beware that the route up is often closed to vehicles that aren't 4x4 or have good chains if there has been fresh snowfall.

If you park there at the CA Lodge, the only way to get to the Nevada side is the Sky Express Chair, which might not be running due to weather reasons (wind or overnight ice). If it is running, you take Sky, and then turn left at the top on Skyline Trail which takes you to Nevada. When you want to get back to California, take the California Trail. Usually, if Sky is running, you can get wherever you want on either the CA or NV side. If winds pick up and they shut some lifts down, they will run free shuttle buses to get to the various lodges, which of course is way less fun.

Hi Dave, thanks for watching. I parked mostly at California lodge. I took the gondola from the village once just to do it. But if you want to ski on Cali side I’d just head to California lodge. It’s free and easy.

Just went to heavenly, incredible views but with out snow you’ll find that this place does not have that many runs (that aren’t straight mogul slopes). The tree runs are so sick but you need snow to enjoy them. With out the snow and the tree runs, this place is just a basic resort with an incredible view

Gutted that you didn't get good conditions when you visited. Tbf Tahoe and Heavenly had so much snow at the start of the season that everyone was jealous... Just the way it goes sometimes. Hope you decide to return in the future and get better conditions

I have a cabin in tahoe, and I suggest going on the nevada side. This year I expect it to be decent snow, last year it was pretty bad especially with covid. My favorite run is sams dream, I suggest heavenly to anyone who wants to ski.

Hey Valerie, yeah there is a base lodge with a bar/restaurant at California lodge. There is another popular one at the top of the gondola, but you will need a ticket to access the lift first. Enjoy

Hi Jessica, There are a few. Patsys is a pretty mellow place to start on California side. There are also some runs at the Cali base lodge before you head up the chairs that are great if you’ve never been before.

Hello Simon. Good videos - THX. I have a question if you don't mind. My 3 girls are beginners/ novices who are at the Green level. I was looking at the Heavenly Trail map and it does not appear that Heavenly has a lot of options for them; I don't see many Green runs on the trail map. What are your thoughts on this and would you recommend we look elsewhere? Thx so much.

Hi Joel, there are a couple of areas for beginners but I wouldn’t say Heavenly is the best resort for beginners. Don’t get me wrong, you can definitely learn there… and once turns are sorted there are plenty of great blue trails for the intermediate. If your daughters are first timers… I’d probably look to save on the lift tickets (Heavenly can be pricey) and head somewhere more beginner orientated. Obviously this also depends on your ability level… as maybe you want to get out and explore an epic mountain 😀 Whatever you decide… hope you have a great trip and I’m stoked you are raising three more skiers!! The future of the sport 🏂

If they are ok with blue terrain then high five is great. Similarly stagecoach and lower stagecoach on Nevada side makes for a nice long run back to a chair. Maggie’s off Powderbowl chair if your looking to stay to Green.

Definitely want to ski heavenly as I usually ski sierra but wanted to change it up. Im really nervous about going to a new place and was confused how to get to heavenly as I always see a ton of people in the village. Why is skiing so expensive though lol.

Heavenly has a gondola directly out of the village... but also check out parking near California lodge or Stagecoach lodge as it’s free and generally less crowded.

Yes. There are ticket offices at the base of Cali lodge, the gondola and over at Stagecoach on Nevada side. Buying on the day definitely the most expensive way to do it though… are you planning on skiing for 1day or multiple?

@@mariacastilla5149 you will definitely be able to rent equipment from the village but I am unsure as to where rents clothing, sorry. Check Heavenlys website as they may do a deal with pass, rental and lessons etc.

Hey Zeus, thanks for watching. Down lifting is if you take a chairlift back down to the base area, rather then ski. Lots of people do this at California lodge as the runs to the base area are challenging mogul fields.
