I like your videos but when you watch your videos on TV it isn't in the best orientation as KZbin is a wide format platform. Your videos would look better if you turned your phone sideways, just a suggestion.

great vid on a great plant. in fact, it is the most sensitive of mint family to wet feet. not that it does not need water, it is that it will not be well if you water it too much. if you live where it rains often, or have soil that holds water, this is not a plant for you. i never water the mound it dominates at all and i have the healthiest most robust and continual summer flower patch around. perfect for the mountain nw usa where i am. one of the favorites of native pollinators as well. keeps my little orchard humming 🙂 to plant where you want it, cut off a flower head after frost and shake it over where you want the seed to go. let it overwinter (it needs cold stratification for germination) and the following spring you will have a carpet of babies 🙂 after the first full year, the plant will be established and will give you abundant flowers all summer long. one of my favorites 🙂

How would this plant handle fun sun in the Texas heat? I have one in container that doesn’t look good. Wondering if I am over watering. 😢

@@BKsWildlifeWorld if you are wondering, you are! you are hotter in texas than me here in n. idaho but i only water mine a couple times in the hottest summer period. i do not grow them in pots though. if i were going to plant in pots, i would not use plastic pots but porous pots that breath. they should be just fine in the ground in texas. i cannot imagine them needing water more than once every 2 weeks and that would be considered high watering rate. when they get too dry, they get a bit droopy. if you water them, they will bounce back. if you keep an eye on them, they will tell you when they need water and after a while you will get a feel of their needs at your location 🙂

@@AlsanPine Thanks so much! I might transplant to unglazed clay pots and back off the water and see what happens. I don’t have much room in ground unfortunately.

@@BKsWildlifeWorld clay pot will help. i use them medicinally so i have a huge patch of them so i can eat 10 leaves a day. while you are transplanting, you should do it in a large pot so you can let multiple plants grow from seeds. also note that the seeds have to be stratified to grow. the plants do not last very long so you want to let new plants come up each year in rotation so you can perpetuate and not have to buy new plant. cheers 🙂

For winter how far do you cut back before the snow ? I just bought some to add to my garden 🙂

I killed several by cutting them back in the fall. Not 1 made it through winter. I now dig planting holes deep and fill with sand and compost so the plants don't sit in water (which kills them super fast), and I don't prune them until some new growth starts in spring. Wet feet are their enemy. They were frustrating, but once you have a grip on them, they are awesome!

I live in 5a at 7000' original plant died, but a volunteer came up 8 ft away next to my Pinon tree. It's very happy

My agastache looks like it got fried in our recent heatwave. I want to trim it back to the ground, but I'm afraid it's dead already. I'm in zone 9b.

You tell people to ask questions and then in your replies you tell them to email. How hard is it for someone to reply with an actual answer for all to learn? I like reading comments and seeing answers on KZbin videos but i dont like it when channel operators are hypocritical saying do one thing but mean another.
