This video is one whole growing season on my lawn. A year in the life of a lawn lover if you will. I have never taken this type of view of my own or of lawn videos before. Seeing how everything evolved and grew throughout the year, it really puts the struggle into perspective. I agree 💯 with you on gas mowers! I have a battery string trimmer and a gas blower. I’m not switching. I’m not a creator and I don’t have companies “sending” me their crap to try out. So, I really do appreciate the effort that you put into producing and creating videos. I have learned so much from you. Merry Christmas!

Thank boss! I bought two of those toro mowers before everyone saturated getting them for free. I sold both of them. The blower shocked me from day one and the battery lasts 8 minutes. The string trimmer is the only think I use consistently and I’ll probably upgrade that to a multi tool. I could use a little More torque for bigger weeds and grasses in the areas around my property.

Great year end video John. I’m still on the gas train too. Pre-Ordered the Revolution 26 from Reel Rollers back in late September. Can wait for the 2024 season to get here.

I think I maybe used one full gallon this year and I actually mowed the lawn a lot.

This year didn't go as planned for a lot of people. Personally was the worst weather for turf in NW indiana in years. With that I learned a lot and continue to test products. Good luck next year I'll be watching.

Yeah it was all over the place for sure. Bad droughts in a lot of the country and very late Springs. We take what we can get I suppose

It was definitely a tougher year. But we made it and the lawns survived. I watched the entire video and enjoyed it. Whats up with the gas mower? It seemed like it has COPD here at the end of the season. Ill see you at Lawncology! Old fashions and a few bourbons to chase them down with our buddy Rod.

Love the video, JP! I will be doing my annual soil test at end of this month and will send to you for my yearly Lawncology video review. We haven't gotten a freeze yet in Phoenix but I am pretty much finished watering and mowing until Spring. Once I take my soil samples, I am thinking of doing the 4 bio stims with my hose end sprayer (as opposed to EZ Flow) for next few months so I can improve my organics which were lacking in last soil test. Any Issues doing that? Thx, Marc

John, I don’t remember your exact words about granular fertilizer but you said you’ve been wanting to have one for quite some time now. It sounded like you’re looking to fill a void that you see in that market. Can you share your thoughts around that ?

There’s opportunity to bring a value fertilizer with enhanced benefits to a market that’s trying to inflate certain inputs to take advantage of consumer needs. What be seen over the years is that adding particular components will enhance a soluble fertilizer to the point where you can compete with the longevity of certain coated materials.

Holy crap dude! A whole hour! So, you keep telling us you can get by with 2 pounds of nitrogen a year. While your lawn does well with it older lawns may not. I have one of those 30 year old tall fescue lawns. I'm believing it just actually require 4 pounds a year

I don’t think it has anything to do with “old grass” Things to consider for me this year is this: First feeding in June, last in September. Dormant by 10/15, awake around May 5. That makes for a very short season. That makes me not have to use much N. I’d say that depending on your fert and your soil, you can easily get down to 2lbs happily maybe 2.5, Given your growing season. It all depends on how much nitrogen loss your having.

@Lawncology It was a unusual year. Your lawn did rebound well. Going fully automated might be good for some who don't have the time to be on the lawn. For myself I enjoy being out there and taking care of it. The exercise is good and walking it each day minimizes the problems that occur by catching them early instead of after the fact.
