Now before I say anything I do think the OG battlefront was a good game especially for its time. So although the new battlefront's campaign is short and the story is bland the OG wasn't much better it was also pretty bland imo. Also the OG battlefront 2's campaign is around 3 and a half hours when the new battlefront 2's campaign is around 5 hours long if the walkthroughs on youtube are anything to go by. Also I have no idea how game development has changed over the years but the new battlefront campaign is way more detailed than the OG in every way imo. Also I could be wrong and you could be right but I don't think it took them 2 years to make and even if it did like I said it's way more detailed. Also at least battlefront 2's campaign has some cool visuals and set pieces although like the one mission where you fly into the rebel ship was so cool. Now I know what you're gonna say that the OG had a bunch of missions like that, and this really isn't fair to say since the OG is a lot older than the new game but like I said before the new game is way more detailed. The OG ship interiors are so bland but in that one mission I can believe that if I walked into one of those rebel capital ships that's exactly how it would look. Also a lot of the missions are a lot more unique than the OG or they're just as bland. Also I'll admit the AI is pretty bad and it can be argued that it's one of many reasons why the new battlefront 2's campaign isn't pales in comparison to other campaigns and the OG battlefront's campaign but the AI in the OG isn't much better but they're also two different kinds of AI one is made to navigate the very open map that are in the OG and the other is made to navigate the more structured maps in the new one. One AI ducks behind cover the other one dodges. Also the map design in the OG multiplayer again this probably isn't fair but the is so bland the maps in the new battlefront have so much detail and some are based off of the iconic locations in the movies like Theed even the worst maps in battlefront 2 are still better than the maps in the OG. Like when I look at a battlefront 2 map I just think how much work it must've taken for them to make that and whenever I look at the OG I'm like this probably took a day to make with one person on the job. Yes, it's older so who knows how game development has changed since then. Yeah the OG has a ton of maps that battlefront 2 doesn't, but I don't really see that as a feat over the new game by the original because the maps aren't interesting at all so much so if you told me that the OG battlefront was getting a new map I wouldn't care because the map design is just so boring (some maps are okay like Polis Massa and Coruscant but still compared to the new battlefront 2 maps it's not even close) now if you told me the new battlefront 2 was getting a new map I would lose my mind because they always make interesting maps that look beautiful and really make me feel like I'm in Star Wars. Sorry for using the word bland so much there really wasn't any other words to describe it for me besides synonyms for the word bland, and sorry for the long comment. Also don't get too mad with me about what I've said I would love to hear your thoughts and have a civilized conversation about this. I also know that a lot of my criticism can be linked back to the fact that one is a lot older than the other I just thought I would challenge the opinions that say that OG game is still better than the new game.

The only thing that it really has over the old game in terms of content is the sequel era but that's only because ep 7,8 and 9 didn't exist in 2005. Classic still has mustafar, mygeeto, coruscant, polis massa, utapau, tantive IV, jango fett, mace windu, aayla secura, ki adi mundi ect They pushed the clone wars era really hard in the marketing for EABF2 and we didn't even get anakin or obi wan at launch. We then had a whole year of clone wars content but even after all of the updates we still don't have mace windu or jango fett which is pathetic. The classic bf2 had all of these in from the start and the modders added new era's from the expanded universe and obscure planets and characters. Battlefront 2017 modders on the other hand had to create jango, mace, ki adi and aayla because dice couldn't be bothered and even then they just replace pre-existing characters unlike classic bf2 mods that add their own era's.

While Battlefront 2 DICE has gotten better overtime, Battlefront 2005 still reigns supreme for everything it was able to accomplish, from the iconic moments in Campaign where you kill Jedi and fight Clones as stormtroopers, its campaign has vast replay-ability when 2017’s does not. And the whole way through you play as the bad guys and end the game on a victory against the rebellion. Would’ve been great if 2015 or 2017’s battlefront actually capitalized on where Classic battlefronts story left off, having you play through the aftermath of the victory of Hoth, and throughout the story you have glimpses of your past-perhaps even revisiting past missions as the 501st. That would’ve been far better then what we got in my opinion, a continuation rather than a reboot.

Dices bf2 as it currently is def reigns supreme. Dont overlook all that it does better. The graphics arent the only thing. The animations, heroes dont just do the same 3 swings on repeat. Unique abilities instead of basic force powers copy pasted to most characters, the old one had more maps however all the maps he new one has are 1Ox better. Look better, more verticality, way bigger The new maps also let you move through different areas as the game progresses. This keeps longer games from getting repetitive. The customization and class setups shits on the old one. This one has trooper skins, classes can actually choose different weapons and attachments, hero skins, cards to change core abilities and playstyles. The old one has 0 of any of that type of customization. In fact the old one had 0 progression whatsoever, nothing to strive for. The lightsaber combat is shitty but still 10x better than in the old one. The old one didnt have real lightsaber fight mechanics like this one does with dodging counter attacking from behind. I could go on and on

Gabe Newell the thing is that the new Battlefront 2 primarily lacks excitement and Thrill, sure there’s excitement to be had when you get on a Killstreak as a hero and Hold certain choke points, after a while it gets pretty stale, and the lack of weapons is also a major hinderance. and the Campaign is about as entertaining as watching paint dry. Sure when compared Battlefront 2 2019 has advantages, but it will never have the replay-ability the classic does.

Mykel Thomas Despite the technology advancements since 2005, all you have to do is measure original SWB2 to other Star Wars games around that time. KOTOR 1 & 2 as well as Republic Commando had much more love and effort put into them. KOTOR 2 wasn’t even finished and yet it still rises superior to SWB2. I played all those games and thoroughly enjoyed them, but I felt it was easier to enjoy the replay of the former titles rather than the latter.

Truth is modern games are just more based on fancy looks and monetization and while I appreciate great graphics I miss the possibility to mod and use custom servers with custom rules and games that were made to be fun and not to make money. It's a shame that the developers have no other realistoc choice than this, because these people would have given us so many more insane games.

Nothing beats playing local splitscreen and I was the ace pilot taking out the different parts on the capital ships like the life support systems so they would slowly die or there engine and while I was dog fighting and doing bombing runs my friend would take a squad and go into the capital ship and take out the turrets and the parts from the inside nothing that open and creative is in battlefront 2 2015 everything is fucking scripted even when you go into a capital ship which is scripted you have to follow a set of things to do to destroy the ship and it’s just disappointing to see such wasted potential

Combat is infinitely superior when it comes to gunplay. TTK, health system, limited ammo, weapon variety and SIDEARMS. My gosh, it's so simple. Why not just give us sidearms? When the main and only weapon needs to cool down before you've killed anyone a pistol given to your class is just being humane.

I remember flying around and thinking how do I want to take down these ships? Sometimes if I wanted to cripple them I'd go inside and start ripping the ship apart. Or I'd choose different ships to take out different parts. It would have been cool had EA gotten starship assault right. They had the blueprint from the outset wtf. I would have loved if they expanded the starship assault and let you take over starships instead of destroying them.

Consistent DLC’s and new content, whereas it took DICE one year to release new content (The Last Jedi DLC is the lone exception, because that’s a giving). The heroes actually felt like heroes. This game was one of the first I ever played, back when it was new for PS2. I have logged literally thousands of hours in it between the PS2, PSP, PC (steam), and the release for Xbox One. This is my favorite video game of all time and I agree with nearly every point in this video, especially about space battles and galactic conquest. Remember in the original when your droidaka would glitch out, and give it infinite shield? Or engineering your ships shield for 10 min while your brother bombed the fuck out of your life support systems? Or discovering that you can use cheats in the pause screen, but for some reason it was really hard to do on ps2 controller because you couldn't figure out if it was timing or how hard you pressed the buttons to activate cheats?

I really hate when people say that battlefront 2015 only has 4 maps when meanwhile battlefront 2 has like 20 maps. This has been said so many times and it is completely not true. 2015 only had 4 planets at launch but so many maps within those planets. But 2017 only has one map per planet.

My roomate and I started a galactic conquest game in college, and it attracted pretty much the whole floor of the dorm. We had people cheering for one side or another and everyone was swapping in and out who was playing, it was like a full day event and super fun. 2005 is still a way better game. Yes SWBF EA 2 has better graphics but something like Capital Supremacy is a joke. You don't actually fight on 'ground and in space', its just a crappy cut scene. In 2005, you actually could fly to the capital ship and land. It just shows the lack of creative vision for all Star Wars games since EA have had the licence. Hell, even SWBF EA 2015 had more content, map selection, better map design, skins and WEAPONS.

The graphics arent the only thing. The animations, heroes dont just do the same 3 swings on repeat. Unique abilities instead of basic force powers copy pasted to most characters, the old one had more maps however all the maps he new one has are 1Ox better. Look better, more verticality, way bigger The new maps also let you move through different areas as the game progresses. This keeps longer games from getting repetitive. The customization and class setups shits on the old one. This one has trooper skins, classes can actually choose different weapons and attachments, hero skins, cards to change core abilities and playstyles. The old one has 0 of any of that type of customization. In fact the old one had 0 progression whatsoever, nothing to strive for. The lightsaber combat is shitty but still 10x better than in the old one. The old one didnt have real lightsaber fight mechanics like this one does with dodging counter attacking from behind. I could go on and on. The only thing the old one does Better is the story itself and boarding capital ships. The story told btw not the gameplay of the story. Because its the same old maps multiplayer and 15 second cutscrenes with a random narrator..Everything else is done better in the new one. You're blinded by nostalgia and hate for EA. i get the old one was amazing during its time but youre just lying to yourself if you say its better

@Darth Kellious Not one but 3 shot maybe. Seriously, you can kill all heroes with vanguard in a matter of seconds. I've been doing this since day one and they still haven't nerfed it. Even Vader who was tons of HP can die in like 3 shots, 4 at best with a well placed Vanguard shot. Heroes with smaller health like Boba? He can die in 2 shots. If you ambush the hero from behind and you have Vanguard, they are finished even with full health. Before you judge others, you should actually experiment with different play styles and learn about the top tiers weapons and abilities. Then again, perhaps I'm expecting too much from casual garbage who pretend that they are gamers. I'm the the 0,2% and 0,3% who has platinumed both EA Battlefronts. I think I know what I'm doing.
