Man the OD3 is an amazing pedal. Tbh it did used to get a lot of recognition, I think it’s sort of fallen by the wayside a bit now with all the boutique pedals offering shiny things to distract people. If boss stopped making it 100% it would be an instant classic and trade hands for hundreds of dollars tbh. Now. The ODB3 however. The old dirty bastard of bass pedals. That should have been replaced by an odb-5 and a dsb-1 long ago. Don’t get me wrong for a bass pedal in an era where there were very few it’s actually got some great ideas - blend control, bass - focused drive, etc. But it doesn’t actually know if it’s a drive or distortion, it’s too noisey, etc. It’s a first draft really that should have been replaced, but because it was one of the first big bass pedals it’s also kind of it’s own thing…. Even if everyone loves to hate it

I agree with Lee in the idea that the boutique market plays on the idea that people want to be different. I’m a huge fan of many boutique pedal builders and have often times viewed the more common brands as being “generic” or less desirable due to their popularity. It wasn’t until recently when I was looking for a chorus pedal that I realized the folly of that mentality. I hadn’t owned a chorus in probably 10 years but couldn’t find one that fit the sound I had in mind among the boutique options. Checked out the MXR stereo chorus and loved it. It reminded me that sometimes not being overly different isn’t a terrible thing haha. Great video guys!

I love that he ran his reverb going into the delay... this is what I prefer but I know most will tell you reverb is always supposed to go at the very end of your signal chain, unless you have it running through an FX Loop if your amp has one which I've found is where a reverb sounds the best. As far as the Delay goes I prefer it in front of the amp at the end of the chain so you have those perfect tone-tails when you kill the signal abruptly. I have religiously ran these two Boss Pedals on my board and still do, the DD20 and the TU-3 Tuner though I upgraded to the Waza Craft a few years ago after giving my original TU-3 to a young bass player who's tuner burned out just before a gig ( I was guitar teching at the time). For a long time I ran the CE-5 Chorus Ensemble, BF-3 Flanger, OC-3 Super Octave, and of course the immortal DS-1. This was the early to mid- 2000s when the market place didn't have as many makers. I've since expanded my collection and now am a full blown tone-junky, but I assume the vast majority of us in the comment section are. 😜 Anyways... Loved the video and all the jams at the end!!!

When I started noodling in the mid-'80s, BOSS was tops. I still love them. In addition to a full-size GX-100 processor a Pocket GT processor, I have....... MT-2 DS-1 BD-2 GE-7 OC-3 (for my bass)

This is why I play mostly Boss pedals...and I love their straight forward design. The BD-2 and OD-3 are my favourite drive pedals of all time. The delays. The tuner. Everything sounds great. I think the chorus and the reverb are the two pedals that is lacking a bit. I never liked sea sick chorus - I prefer detune...and I use that instead...mainly in the Yamaha SPX90 rack...and the reverb just doesn't hold up to the Lexicon rack reverbs I use most of the time. But Boss has always been my favourite pedal brand. I've never cared for boutique pedals. I've never heard a boutique pedal that made me think to go away from the BD-2 and OD-3 :)

BOSS rules! 😤 Angry Driver w/latched, Noise Supper, Comp, EQ as solo boost, DDL, & a Phaser. Methinks I’m good. Add on the ENTIRE 200 Series, plz! There’s a AutoWah in there.

Reverb into Reverb is a little too much for my ears. But outside of that, it sounded great. I typically like lower to medium gain more than the high gain stuff, but I loved the sound of that PRS Rob was playing.

Boss is still Boss! They were elusive as a kid in the 80s, where we had to make do with Arion and Rocktek pedals instead, and then by the 2010s the consensus was that Boss pedals were too generic as everyone touted “boutique” pedals at twice or three times the price. But this video shows the reality: Boss still make great sounding pedals!

I have a Boss ME-25 which sounds great with a broken or extra cable in the phone jack to give it more realistic tones, but I had to get a chorus pedal so I could have more control and it's the best classic sounding chorus I have heard. Boss make great classic pedals except I don't like metal zone pedals or the DS1. I also have Bias FX 2 so I have many different tones available for me. I also believe that the sound of a pedal is more important than the looks.

My first ever pedal was a Boss OS2, I absolutley loved it and still do. However, I think a lot of people either don't know about it or see it as pointless. Would love to see a bit more documentation on it
