Recently, there have been a lot of changes to New World. The expansion is also on the horizon, which will be coming with a gear score increase that will make our current gear obsolete, since we won't be able to upgrade it. As such, things are different for returning players now.

To not be at a disadvantage when the expansion drops, I would recommend buying some 600 GS gear from the trading post if you don't have any yet - or get some 590 gear from the current world event. That way, you avoid entering the next zone with 500 GS. - We haven't heard anything on Gypsum Orbs yet, but I expect they'll keep some kind of value in the expansion, so I don't think it hurts to grab the easy ones while doing various ingame activities. - The faction chests for trade skill XP might also be worth a little less now as the XP resources will be capped at 3 uses per day. They're still not *bad*, but less important than before. I would definitely grab a few to be prepared, but no need to hoard massive amounts. - Regarding Umbral Shards, I wouldn't change anything I said here. It's a lot of effort to get to the point where you can consistently farm them, so with them being removed in the expansion, absolutely not worth it! The devs haven't even confirmed that we'll actually get gold for them when asked about it.

What a coincidence, I just recently came back from a huge break, well i basically stoppef shortly after the watermark update came in. I really wanted to play some mmo, like in the good ol days, and I thought sheesh, I already have 600 hours in new world (yes I had 600 hours by the time watermark update came in lol, we were kings), so why not play it, see what changed, you know, give myself a day or two, damn, it's been a week and I'm honestly amazed by the good job AGS did with this game. I found myself enjoying this game again and it looks like another 600 hours is coming in shortly lmao, ah yea so the coincidence , that's the video I needed hehe.

I'll be honest, I don't think me talking about it in a video is going to change anything. They are aware of the issue and are working on it and it's obviously a high priority issue because it affects a ton of active players. My voice in the mix isn't going to make them find a solution faster when they clearly struggle to pinpoint what's causing the issue. I might still discuss it in a video soon, but I highly doubt it'll in any way affect the speed at which a fix is found!

Question Duke, I hope you can answer. From The faction vender I’m buying the fishing containers and it gives me unusual bait. When I go to the vender it changes to journeyman notes and no fishing exp. How can I use this towards fishing levelling? Thanks

Once u buy the fishing container is should pop up in your inventory, then u just click on it and use, there should be no reason to go to a vendor. Hope this helped 😅

Thanks! Regarding Umbral Shards, I wouldn't change anything. It's a lot of effort to get to the point where you can consistently farm them, so with them being removed in the expansion, absolutely not worth it! Hey Duke, since they just recently implemented the ultimate trophies. you think its safe to invest the money into crafting them? dropping 400k+ is quite an investment and i wouldnt put it past AGS to make them obsolete. lots of people are specualting the gear score increase with s3. would you consider investing into bags and tools now since the prices dropped?

I wouldn't invest into the trophies at the moment, personally. I don't think they'll be made obsolete all too soon, but they're extremely expensive for a minor benefit. Bags and tools on the other hand may remain valuable for a while after the expansion, since they likely won't be the first thing you upgrade. So IF you'd get a significant upgrade out of getting a better one at the moment, I don't see why not!

You could just craft three Ultimate combat trophies, and that will take care of having multiple spots on the wall taken by them. It’s by far the best one to craft. Then you can hang a crafting trophy up when you need to without having to invest in a ultimate crafting trophy which is not worth it. Also save as much money as you can cause you will want to buy stuff when it comes out.

I think I heard something about that in the new xpac, like expertise won't matter in the new content, you'll just get auto 625+ loot no matter your expertise.

@@bruised7347 Yeah, Genesis non-mutation farm is pretty much almost exclusively done for Expertise increases. Might be that some people also do it for Transmog tokens now though, but there would be better options for that imo.

Players spam run genesis regular, because there are a lot of higher level gear drops there. A player gets 25 regular expedition chances a day. Some players spam gen (genesis) 25 in one day. Many of these players do not even bother to make it to the mid boss. They spam the mini bosses close to the start, then quit and go back in to get their 25 a day limit. Some players call this a Gen Reg Taxi spam, because the miniboss Tax'i has a lot of 500 to 600 GS named gear drops. They get the named gear and also the gear score increase.

Thank you for the informative video, it was great, but I personally checked out right after hearing about a season pass. My disappointment towards AGS has only grown since I quit after the gypsum update, and it makes me sad because I put a lot of time into the game.

It is much better to level the character as soon as possible. This allows the use of better (higher gear score) gathering tools. Higher level gathering tools speeds up the gather rate and the xp gain. Using lower level gathering tools is mostly a waste of time, and should be avoided. Selling green wood or other raw matts for 0.04 to 0.07 is also a waste of time. Lower level players do not have the bags' space to increase carry weight, so not much they can gather, anyway. Higher level players also have access to more locations' storage, so the player can store matts and put in buy orders at trade post. Getting the character to level 40 will allow the use of starmetal tools, which have much faster gather rate than iron tools or steel tools. There is also no real reason to do a lot of gathering early game, less than 40 level. With the new system, a player could probably hit 40 in 20 hours or less just playing the quests. No real reason to do the lower level expeditions at less than 40 level. Just go full quest line and side/ faction quest until 40 level is reached, then a player can also be a little more picky with the armor attributes and perks than a plyer under 40. Also, players should buy low level tools with the xp boost perk, so it will make leveling the gathering faster. When I started playing this dumpster fire of a game, it was much much worse to level gathering. Now, it is a lot better, because it requires less grinding gathering xp. The xp boost perk is not really needed after a player gets 200 level gathering.

​@@willw8011 Because there's a large portion of players who played the game at the start and then quit before most of the things I talked about were implemented, as they found the lategame at the time too lackluster. In fact, you can find multiple of them responding in the comments here. Gypsum, Rafflebones, the new weapon mastery farm and double XP tokens, Transmog tokens, normalized gear score.. all of that didn't exist. I'm not sure why you wouldn't be aware of this unless you started playing later yourself?

Still no cross realm expeditions? That is the only problem I have had with this game. Takes about 2 hours to find a group to do hell runs.

Not yet, planned for Season 4 this year. You'll generally have a hard time finding groups for expeditions at the moment since most people stopped running them due to the expansion changes. It feels a bit pointless to grind to M10 if you have to do it all over in 1 1/2 months!

The quest for the heartrune gear slot is in Brimstone Sands. It is a side quest line given at the outpost nearest to Ebonsacle Reach. Internet search for how to unlock the heartrune gear slot and it will give all of the information.

META is totally overrated... i have not played for about 9 or 10 months ... joined my 1st OPR yesterday and smashed everything with my oldscool GS/Hatchet with Medium and shirking fort :) 200 str / 150 dex / 150 const - and my gear is absolutely NOT BIS ... i am sooooo happy it still does its thing with my playstyle nowadays :)

Unless your interested in running the same expeditions over and over and over and over again players shouldnt return. PvP (OPR) is dominated by annoying range which has the most damage, most tick damage, longest slow, most range. Open world PvP isnt incentivized so it doesnt exist.
