Even if just for the story I would totally recommend playing AC1. To see Altaïr’s growth from arrogant to wise is awesome and does a great job of setting the foundations for the series’ philosophical debate. The confessions with the Templar targets are simply among the best villain dialogue in the series and, for those of us that played AC1 and the entire Ezio trilogy, that final moment of: “No books, no wisdom… only you… fratello mio…” hit that much harder. I nearly broke into tears upon seeing Altaïr’s body on the chair.

I especially love how beautiful Istanbul looks at sunset with the track "The Crossroads of the World" in the backdrop. That honestly carries a lot of weight when it comes to seeing this as the end of a long road for this wandering protagonist. And after his long life of betrayal and loss, it's very fitting. 😢

Desmond’s first person platforming memories were perhaps my favorite piece of this exquisite game, as you got to learn, not just through words, but by sound and emotion Desmond’s story as if he were a real person. To learn how to separate that from Ezio compartmentalizing his own life, and Altair doing the same… one of the most timeless Assassin’s creed games. This, AC 3, and AC Black Flag I feel really we’re able to grasp the archetypes of story and myth and wove them perfectly.

Ezio might be a 'messenger' in the grand scheme of things, but if it wasn't for him, Desmond wouldn't have known that the world would be ending in 2012 and he wouldn't have sacrificed his life to save it. It's thanks to Ezio that the world is safe. He is the "prophet", just like how he was referred to in AC2 and he brought the savior, Desmond, into the world.

0:38 Ezio's darker robes are meant to represent how far he's come since he was a young man. He's incredibly experienced now, and he's looking for knowledge. I do love the nod that he's struggling a bit with his "identity" as an Assassin and his "identity" as Ezio Auditore da Firenze. I also love how Ezio sounds in this game. He's not a young man anymore, he's a hardened fighter and his voice accurately reflects that.

Considering Desmond accesses Altaïr’s memories through his mother’s side, that could be why Ezio sees Altaïr and this portion of his life is so open to Desmond and not his father (whose side Ezio and the Kenway generations came from). That he’s doing through a safe mode of the Animus and not normal function could also factor in, like it wouldn’t be recalled this way through the normal interface even Rebecca or later Layla (who overcame the genetic match requirement for the user by drawing genetic memory from actual remains) might have designed.

When I klicked on the video, I thought to myself. “Huh I don’t remember a lot of this game”. So I klicked away the video… I replayed the game and I felt like a kid again! After 2 weeks I completed it (work and school don’t judge😂). Now I am back to watch this video!

I don't know if you read comments but I feel like its worth mentioning in the first game the world outside was described as post apocalyptic and then retconned later to be some sort of "hacker". Which is just a great change of direction cuz eye roll for shoehorned apocalypses.

AC1 does not have outdated gameplay. A lot of people say it does but that's not true. It holds up as much as the Ezio trilogy (obviously this ones have been adding slight improvements over time as you can expect from sequels but the core it's the same). People say the game is outdated because of the mission structure. And I also disagree with that. The game makes you do a set of activities before you can access your target and people usually say that the activities are "repetitive" but that's because the activities aren't the focus of the gameplay, it's the information you get from them. Once you have it, you'll need to use that information to locate your target and plan out your kill. And yes, I mean you, the player. The game isn't going to diplay that information anywhere else. To put it in perspective, is like if the black box missions of Unity were the whole game and it didn't showed to you the different "routes" or "oportunities" you have, it just lets you figure things out for yourself. Edit: Altaïr's VA is different. The one from Rev is not the guy from 1.

You said earlier in the video that the music in this game is great. And yes, that is absolutely true. But that song during the 'destruction flashback' scene hits so hard and doesn't let up until the end and gives that slight kind of hint of rebuilding and hope, but you'd never know with how hard it hits before that. Always gives me chills years later to listen to it and still essentially visualize the cutscene while listening.

As someone who is going back and binge playing the entire Desmond saga (AC1, AC2, Brotherhood, Revelations and AC3) I can personally say AC1 is definitely worth playing and would love to see a video on that, only criticism I can say for it is that there is some things you can do that the game never tells you like if you dodge and attack with the hidden blade that’s a 1 shot kill

I actually used this trick by accident when facing off al-Mualim in AC1 and i was surprised that he can be killed with only 1-hit

Does anyone notice how when ezio raises his sword at the sultan it looks a lot like Connor? From the way he hold it and stands to his pure silence.

I know this is a channel of positivity - but I can't help compare the chills I got when Ezio talked to Desmond, him knowing on some level Desmond was with him on his journey, with the apathy and eye roll I got when *spoilers* Kassandra just pops up to meet Layla then just... Dies

@@brennanmann4178 Unity was pretty fun, Arno story was pretty interesting (most of the time), and the multiplayer is pretty fun. I personally recommend it, however it’s always best to seek a couple of peoples newer opinions as well.

Honestly, getting to relive these games and see so much more because of a different POV, thank you... so much. I never knew Abstergo was latin for "I cleanse". Even so many years later, on a game I have played multiple times & I tout as one third of the best trilogy I have ever played, you still taught me something new. I love that. Also, hearing that you're going to make a video on AC: Embers makes me happy but I know I'm going to cry. Ezio's final words/letter are some of the many words from Ezio that struck me hard, meant something strong to me, & that I've taken in to shape myself with. His words are not only beautiful, but insightful & profound, but in a wonderfully understandable way. I know that sounds kinda contradictory, but it makes sense to me. haha :D I CONTINOUSLY look forward to your videos & can't wait to see your next one. Always love seeing your POV & the similarities/differences we have. Helps me think even more about a game I love.

Know it's an old vid but on the point of 16, he WAS related to Desmond, through Ezio, so the Assassins were indeed part of his heritage. I like to think that was part of why 16 was so willing to help out Desmond, other than the fact that they were put through the same stuff by Abstergo, helping your distant cousin seems like a natural thing to do considering the circumstances.
